Akira Toriyama died March 1st of this year, he aged 68 years.
His death was announced on the official dragon ball website, so sadly, its likely not fake.
This legend inspired an entire generation of kids, and probably made them all think that they can shoot kamehameha waves lol. Hate it or love it, Toriyama truly left an unforgettable legacy with dragon balls. Rest in peace Toriyama, we would really revive you if we had dragon balls.

May he rest in peace. I am truly sad that the legend who inspired the new generation of legends is no more among us. May the legacy and his best work (DRAGON BALL) that he left behind will inspire people.

Dragon Ball was one of the first animes I watched during my childhood , I cannot describe the emotions it made me feel with words alone. He was an amazing writer. Dragon Ball is a masterpiece that has shaped so many animes and will continue to do so in the future, along with his other amazing series.

The legend will live on.

From being a kid to a man in my 30s, Dragonball has been a constant thing in my life for nearly 25 years.
His imagination and creativity will be missed, but his work lives on and will continue to do so for many generations into the future. Let's hope that whoever takes up the mantle does his work justice!
Much respect to his family at this time. May he rest in peace.
Thank you, Akira Toriyama.

Toryama was a legend indeed. It is not only because of DB, DBZ and DBS. He inspired generations, art styles, he defined a number of features that are copied until this day. For example, so many anime copy the style of the SSJ for angry powering up characters.
Likewise, not so many (in the west, at least) talk about how good Toryama was in creating Sci-fi. He had an unique style in depicting technology and futuristic artwork. You can see the pinnacle of his mastery in Chrono Trigger, which, to this day, is considered one of the best JRPG ever made, and Toryama was a BIG part of this game success.

Man… first Miura, now Akira. May Toryama be always remembered for everything that he inspired. Absolut legend INDEED.

Rest In Peace. Dragon Ball definitely was one of the anime that brought me into the medium of anime back in 2010. A time when I didn’t even know what anime was. I was just amazed by the show. Akira Toriyama brought me some happy times all these years and all I hope is that he was happy with the work he did and left behind in this world. Gone but never forgotten.

The tree of might movie was the very first anime that I ever saw. So obviously, he left a very lasting impression on me. And I also saw all three series (dragonball, dragonball z & GT) as well.

May he rest in peace. 🙏
