Akira Toriyama, the creator of our beloved franchise Dragon Ball, and other popular ones as well (such as Dr. Slump), who worked also on well-known games like Chrono Trigger or Dragon Quest series, passed away on 1st March 2024, due to acute subdural hematoma. Read more on X/Twitter here.

Thank you for all those years of fun and excitement coming from tracking your works, Toriyama-sensei...

Same here. Dragon Ball was what got me into reading manga. It was the first manga I ever read when I was a little kid, almost 30 years ago, and it still remains one of my favorite manga to this day.

RIP to a legendary mangaka

Going to start rereading Dragon Ball in memory of Toriyama-sensei.

I was really sad when I heard the news because I owe this man my childhood; my parents even got my name (Roehan = Gohan) from him, and also because hes the biggest reason why I watch anime and read manga; hes probably the most influential person in the anime and manga industry; he inspired a lot of authors to make their own series; if it weren't for him, there would be no One Piece, Naruto, or Bleach.

It was just so sudden that he didn't even see his new anime series’ (Sand Land and DB Daima) air in March and October.

I just want to thank him for the memories he gave me, but not just for me but also for other people who grew up on his works.
Rest easy, legend.

Until We Meet Again…

RIP Akira Toriyama

R.I.P. Akira Toriyama. In my opinion his influence is probably only second to Tezuka. Personally Dragonball and Dragon Quest VIII were a massive part of my teenage years so his work will always mean a lot to me. It's been really heart warming to see all the tributes to him today 🐉♥️

Dragonball and DBZ are among the first Anime i've seen. i was obsessed as a 6/7 year old and i've been enjoying his works ever since. The Manga/Anime and perhaps even the Gaming Industry wouldn't be as big as it is today if it was't for him. Thank you for changing our Lives Toriyama. RIP

Dragon Ball was the franchise that got me into anime as a kid. In other words, I wouldn't be on this website if it weren't for Akira Toriyama. Rest in peace, you truly were one of the greats and impacted my own life in some truly amazing ways.
Take care of yourself
