The anime is only halfway through but do you think this is getting another season? I feel given the current popularity the show has been getting lately a season 2 should be expected. Though I have my doubts we will see one, at least not within the next 2-3 years. I know this is just me being skeptical but popularity does not necessarily mean that they're gonna make one.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

Then what’s the point of this forum? You said it yourself, It’s popular. Which means better odds for a sequal in general. There’s nothing else to be said.

for a 2nd season it needs more chapters first, given that this is a 2 cour and probably ends not far of where the manga is.

Honestly, it's more of a matter of when we'll get a second season. The manga currently sits at 119 chapter. Based on current pacing the anime will adaptation will end somewhere around chapter ~60. They could give us a season 2 relatively quick, but it would probably leave little to no manga content left after it if they want to have a double cour second season. My best guess would be a 2 year gap.

its already popular and the highest rated anime so its a 50:50 chance that its getting a 2nd season.

aint no way this thing gets past 1st mage exam and continues with tbe next arc its ending right at the end after they leave the 1st mage exam town

i will have a second season and it will be as good as this one but i think the arcs arent as good as 1st class exam or the battle with aura other than 1 of them

still I don't think it won't be enough for another 2 cour this quickly. Maybe give it like 2 years then yeah I can see that.

It might be too soon. The manga still has to go a bit far I suppose. But alas, you can never predict the future.

@RopeBuny There was a point to this forum post but clearly everyone is 100% certain this will get a season 2. It's quite possible this wont get more seasons at least not for a while. As I said at the start of my post things don't always get more seasons even they're popular. And it's also quite possible that season 2 will come out just with a very long wait to it. A prime example is blue exorcist which is just now getting it's 3rd season. And it's 2nd season came out 6 years after season 1. Besides Madhouse has other things they've animated that still don't have s2 or had a s2 but animated by another studio. One Punch Man, CCS just to name a few.

@BDMax
The anime has been really consistent in being 2 manga chapter per episode. If you check manga chapters for an episode is like episode# times 2 plus 4 (give or take). Looking at the manga it would make sense to finish the two-cour in chapter 60 (which matches that formula for episode 28, and note that 28 is an unusual episode count).

Manga is already around chapter 120. There is material. But I don’t feel the same approach would work, it may not be a good “end of season” point right there.

I an pretty sure the number of episodes and the chapters-per-episode were carefully chosen to end at chapter 60.

In the manga many chapters are quite self-contained, and it shows in the anime. Mid-episode you get a different story. It even felt weird to me in the Aura-fight episode where we got two different Flamme flashbacks, with a very short Aura talk in-between. That was a cliffhanger at the end of one manga chapter. It is amazing that you can take the manga and it really looks like the storyboard of the anime. Such a respectful adaptation, even in places where the anime episode may look weird. Hope it continues that was.

I think it will definitely get a season 2. Maybe Madhouse will announce it right after season 1 ends and then they will release it after 1 or 2 year. In that way they will get good amount of time to handle it and their will be more content to adapt. I just hope that the current staff members remain for season 2.

Maybe there would be a movie to try and make it more popular before a s2. Tbh I struggle to see it getting mainstream popularity but with the talent they have on board maybe they could make it work.

@eli_shmeli It would be but I’m sure they’ll make the best choice for their team. It’s not impossible but I doubt they’ll rush things as low quality animation would ruin much of Frieren enjoyment. They seem to have a good team behind it who really know what they’re doing so I would prefer they take extra time if it means a better quality production. But as always more time and money does NOT always mean a better production.

I would be interested to see what a prequel would look like and I'd be critical of it tbh. like what else would it be if not the ten year adventure?

What can be said is that the manga has enough chapters for Season 2.

What is doubtful is that the director is also holding the Bocchi the rock project, maybe if he is working on BTR at this time it is not impossible that Frieren will get a master's degree in 2-3 years again.

I have no idea, it’s clearly very well received, but I don’t know on what blu ray sales and streaming numbers it will end up on, I also don’t know how the staff feels about making more and I think these pieces of info are kind of needed to say something substantive.

I definitely would like more made by the same people, but maybe after the director gives us another season of bocchi.

It's very popular in Japan so I would say there is a good chance it will get a season 2 maybe a full adaptation if we are lucky enough. I hope season 2 can keep up the quality because season 1 already put it amongst the best adaptations of the anime medium. And if they can keep up the quality, It will just only get better

@BDMax They're gonna adapt first 7 volumes and there's 12 out, so not necessarily.

Even with what is out at the moment they have material for 20 more episodes after season 1 ends.
If they wanna do another 24 episode season they can do it as soon as next volume is out (previous volume took mangaka 6 months to complete and finished in November), but they could also do 12 episodes for season 2, 12 for season 3

@musubi3 Make me wonder how does One Piece do it when they release episodes nonstop without any significant delays and have source material as well supplementing it.
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.

@Janethan23 The same way Detective Conan does, they use filler when source material is low. Also they probably have multiple teams working on that one series. They stick to the same art style but the animation can be quite a bit different depending on the episode. And in some cases you'll be watching and suddenly one episode has pretty bad animation. More of a question to me is how they have the money to keep doing it. The popularity for shows like that can vary quite a bit over 20-30 years.

@Janethan23 The One Piece anime usually only adapts a chapter, sometimes even less, per episode. This is why some people complain about its pacing, but its the trade off they've decided to make in order to release episodes weekly.

@mitsuru326 second season for sure, I don't ever see the need for a prequel though, that misses the point entirely of the show. The best part of the show is the allure of the nostalgic regret of the events before the show

@Janethan23 one piece adapt 0.75 chapter per episode it's how they do it it's why it's one of the few long running series with few fillers (12% in 20 years) as a result pacing is awful for comparison Naruto and bleach have 40% of fillers but a better pacing in canon arcs.
