| I have been looking for a place to chat about anime and manga stuff. MAL's message system is a bit uncomfortable for me. I haven't explored clubs much. Reddit is only good for posting if you have a specific topic in mind. Maybe a discord server would be a good idea? If anybody wants to invite, I would be happy to join:). I'm looking for a place to be constantly talking about the topic, seeing what others are up to and getting hyped to read/watch stuff. Especially if it's a place to talk about all kinds of anime and manga and not only mainstream or new shows. And ofc, maybe make some online friends along the way. Thanks! |

| The MAL forums are definitely too slow for meaningful discussion in my opinion. Just comment or DM some users on here with similar taste to you, it’s not hard to talk to people on here (or maybe I met some cool people in DMs lol) As bad as it sounds, subreddits dedicated to certain anime’s can often have some nice discussion every now and then. But more importantly, I think almost every big anime subreddit has their own discord server. So just go on the Bleach reddit for example and join their discord server from there. There is no way that they don’t talk about other anime’s on there. |

Yeah, I have had some good conversations in DM's, it's just that the UI is uncomfortable and I'm looking for more of a "group chat" experience. Thank you for the subreddit discord tip. I think that's what I'm looking for. |
| You can probably have some good one on one conversations on here if you find the right person. Leaving a comment on someone’s profile if they are an active member will probably write back. Reddit is kind of good, but eh, the upvote system really ruins any discussion. If you have the “wrong” opinion you just get downvoted and that isn’t fun. Something like /a/ is nice since there is no filter, but that can lead to so much trolling and memeing that you can’t have an actual discussion. The best thing would probably be to have a conversation with someone on here, or just find some anime discord servers. I’m only in the One Piece discord (mainly for chapter notifications), but when I look there are often people in the open channel discussing the anime/manga. I imagine there are discords like that for all sorts of anime. Since you want the “group chat” experience, I’d say a discord server is probably your best bet. Unfortunately I can’t really recommend any, so you’d have to do some research on your own though. If you wanted to talk about anything specifically though I’m down. I don’t have a large completion list, but I’m down to talk about anything. |
