Why does MAL say this anime is a Shonen anime. The only things shonen about it is whenever Anzu beats the crap outta Riri

IIRC, according to the author, it's Shoujo. But marketed by Shueisha as Shonen.

I mean, it certainly has a premise that's more typical of a shoujo, but in execution it's clearly a shounen series through and through.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

How is it not a shounen? It might be a shoujo premise, but it's so obviously a shounen in just about every way.

Shōnen manga (少年漫画, transl. "boys' comics", also romanized as shonen, shounen or syônen) is an editorial category of Japanese comics targeting an audience of adolescent boys.

Not sure why u would copy paste wiki to reply to my comment
I even gave a eg of another show which is reverse harem again published in shonen in above comments. While i have not seen this show yet, but i assume trick is the amount of comedy

I guess if it's from jump that automatically means the TARGET demographic is shonen= boys? But IMO this show is wayyyyy more like shoujo in every way. This is actually something that really annoys me about modern anime. There's barely any shoujo anime compared to what we used to get. Everything that would have in the past been a shoujo gets presented as shonen nowadays, its maddening. I'm not saying girls cant enjoy shonen or vice versa, but I think its ridiculous how the standard is now for boys first and everything else second.

Reverse Heram's target audience is generally female. It is listed as Shounen only because it was published in jump+ magazine.

Hard disagree, the shoujo elements pretty much stop at the premise, it easily feels like a shounen.

I can only assume that you haven't actually watched the show with this sort of mindset.

This is not a shoujo that's inexplicably marketed as a shounen, it may be a shoujo type premise, but it's so obviously a shounen in terms of execution.

I love the way it scrambled genres so well, Anzu is a nerdy teenage cat lady with a hardcore chocolate addiction, far from some kind of ideal shoujo princess character.
