| Rebooting FLCL in the first place wasn't really needed, the original won't be topped, but, while we are able to say whatever we want with the second and third series (for me, Progressive is super bland, tries to be the original but never really succeeds, best part of it is the ending song, but, Alternative, while still not having the same spark as the original, has nice characters as well as being a better story, as it wasn't trying so hard to be the original, but be its own thing, sharing some motifs, of course), I think that, if they are going to bother rebooting it, as they did, might as well make everything possible out of it. It's a smart approach to have none of these sequels connect too heavily to the original or even connect at all with each other, as, while I don't think anyone's expecting something to reach the heights of the original, I think this approach lets them be creative with each season, potentially striking some gold on the way. We'll see. |

| haven't actually gotten to watch the newer series myself but the subtitle of this specific entry intrigues me, I do hope we get more shoegaze in anime. |

Looking forward to FLCL: Doom, FLCL: Drone, and most of all FLCL: Death, because this fucking franchise needs to die before it degrades any further. Make something new already instead of piggybacking on top of cool stuff creative people made in the past.
