Anime Guild's Toriyama Power Ranking Committee:
Winter 2022, Part 1/4

BEST GIRL HAS BEEN DECIDED, AND YOU CAN'T DO NO SHIT TO STOP ME!

A blatant self-celebration Happy Birthday to myself for reaching 28 years of age :)

BREAKING NEWS:
2022 is off to a VERY PALTRY start, but that does not mean that here in AG, new records can't be made!
And for very once, correct me if I'm wrong to remember that Re:Zero broke records before,
Sono Bisque Doll and Winter 2022's Best Girl Marin Kitagawa a.k.a. Shizuku-tan
HAS SWEPT ALL 4 PRC CLASSES IN QUICK SUCCESSION!
YABAI DESU NE!?...ooooops, wrong show! PECO PECO! xD

True to be very honest, I'd expect the juggernaut that is Shingeki no Kyojin a.k.a Attack on Titan's 2nd Cour of the Finale Season
to top the list, or AT THE VERY LEAST make Top 5, BUT NOPE.

Instead, Winter 2022 has you covered if you want these things:
1) Cosplay greatness and best couple of the season
2) The deaf child that still does wonders with his Shadow friend
3) Sweet, inducing and comforting BL
4) Male version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
5) A hardcore mushroom bowman and a doctor that heals and kisses you to remove bugs in your body

Even waiting for the juggernaut that is Spring left to go with less than 2 months to go, I am definitely pumped to serve to the best of my abilties as your beloved Toriyama head, and as I age a year older plus a number, you guys keep me going and I'm never too far away to enjoy more anime in the months and years ahead! It's more re-hashing I know, but I'm always encouraged by your efforts to go this far, so much so that it puts a smile on my face to go the extra mile for you guys!

Results are below, and it's never a guessing game!
My impressions are there too...if you need it as well :)

Directory:
Winter Togashi Power Rankings Part 1/4
Winter Oda Power Rankings Part 1/4
Winter Character Power Rankings Part 1/3

1. Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru / My Dress-Up Darling
(674 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 1]

The best of the 3 CloverWorks shows this season, and it really shows of the dedication and passion of CloverWorks
giving this show the utmost priority in its adaptation. Loving this a lot, and it really is a testament to how good the manga is.

2. Ousama Ranking / Ranking of Kings (2nd Cour)
(626.75 Points ๐Ÿ”ฝ 30.25 Points / 1st-to-5th: ๐Ÿ”ผ 11.75 Points)
[๐Ÿ‘‘: 2][โ‡•: โ‡… 0]

The Return of the Kings is back for the 2nd half...though there's a teeny soul in me that feels like this show,
as great as it was building the hype, is using that hype to push forward with declining effect.
Still a great show nonetheless, would've need to see the entire package to make of this one.

3. Sasaki to Miyano / Sasaki and Miyano
(533.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 3]

For a BL, this was pretty enjoyable. Studio Deen is back emanating their Junjou Romantica days of old
and reformatting into the modern day with this show, and I'd thought that it worked out quite well.
The fujoshi have something to rejoice this season. Also, BL Horimiya FTW.

4. Vanitas no Carte / The Case Study of Vanitas (2nd Split-Cour)
(447 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 4]

The continuation of Jun Mochizuki's epic vampire adventure, and this was a short stopgap
to continue the greatness of the source material, which has higher stakes now.

5. Sabikui Bisco / Rust-Eater Bisco
(432.5 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 5]

Now this is what you call anime: unhinged, expectations run wild, whatever you want to call it, this show has it all.
Reminds me a lot about Deca-Dence in terms of execution, and I can't wait to see more of this.

6. Shingeki no Kyojin / Attack on Titan: The Final Season (2nd Split-Cour)
(412 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 6]

7. Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu /
The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt

(389.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 7]

At first, this sounds a lot like Realist Hero, but it's actually more entertaining than the former by
balancing the dialogue and the comedy that makes it more enriching than what you expect.
Definitely a better Realist Hero being very realist.

8. Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to /
Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout

(364.5 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 8]

This is by far the way the best Isekai of the season, and the author knows the gags and tropes well,
but executing them magnificently so much so that there's fun to be had
Definitely the most promising Isekai of the season, bar none.

9. Koroshi Ai / Love of Kill
(356.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 9]

Fe's spy show that is a cinch like Spy X Family, but more in the veins of Mr and Mrs. Smith.
It can take many heads to understand what does this have going for the audience,
and it has the mystery to back it up, though subtleties are one of yonder with missteps.

10. Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku / Akebi's Sailor Uniform
(350.25 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 10]

The 2nd CloverWorks show, but the aesthetics are just WOW. Sono Bisque Doll may have the highest production,
but that doesn't mean that the people working behind this show can't get to flex all the fetishes of the manga
in pure, jaw-dropping, eye-watering detail so much that it can hurt my eyes in a good way.

11. Hakozume: Kouban Joshi no Gyakushuu / Police in a Pod
(348 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 11]

Another one of Madhouse's adaptations about the police force, and this is Uramichi-Oniisan
levels of realism and reality when it hits most. Has hits and misses for a decent ride.

12. Slow Loop
(328.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 12]

A simple CGDCT about fishing, and it's very enjoyable.
Just sit back, relax, and have some cute girls time doing what they always do better.

13. Princess Connect! Re:Dive (Season 2)
(301.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 13]

Being a fan of Season 1 just 2 years prior, and then transitioning into the game, this more than makes up
for what holds my high expectations for the sequel to knock it right out of the park, and it most certainly did.
Now that I'm daily-driving the game, it'd be fun to see all the small points of what holds the anime going forward.

14. Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki /
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (2nd Split-Cour)

(271.5 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 14]

The continuation of Realist Hero, and this already makes it so much better than what the 1st Cour
had it out with its foundation. Overall, it's still not great, but there's progression and that's where it counts.

15. Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san / Teasing Master Takagi-san (Season 3)
(265.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 15]

I mean, come on. This show has existed for 3 seasons and the simple premise of "boy teases girl"
is the most sweetest thing ever. The pinnacle of young puppy love is defined as this series gets.

16. Leadale no Daichi nite / World of Leadale
(216.25 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 16]

This is Maho Film's Kami-tachi Otoko, only more refined and a bit better. A generic Isekai with its own finesse,
and a slice-of-life that actually works out for itself being a good relaxing show.

17. Cue! (1st Cour)
(195.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 17]

This is yet another Liber Entertainment adaptation about voice acting, and god forbid how many shows have
we been seeing adapted from this prolific Japanese game developer. A3! was rough but came out good,
Iโ˜…Chu was just a disaster, and this show being a 2-cour will really see if it runs the race decently.

18. Tokyo 24-ku / Tokyo 24th Ward
(182.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 18]

As the usual CloverWorks standards of 3 shows per season with the originals being the most sufferable,
Tokyo 24-ku follows Wonder Egg Priority's trend of being pushed right until the very last minute.
As if WEP didn't already outline what a lambast of a rough production cycle it was,
this show certainly feels like a project made to completion at the deadline.

19. Ryman's Club / Salaryman's Club
(159.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 19]

Oh look, it's Hanebado! but gender-bender for Ikemen. No, seriously though, Liden Films is back
expunging their prowess from the days of Hanebado!, repeated to this show. And it's decent all things considered.

20. Baraou no Souretsu / Requiem of the Rose King (1st Cour)
(143.5 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 20]

Of all the unique shows this season, mangaka Aya Kanno's work has to receive the short end of the stick
with J.C.Staff's shoddy work, with the director having already done Satsuriku no Tenshi a.k.a Angels of Death
4 years ago that doesn't help really much. And this being a 2-cour just hurts too much.

Honourable Mentions

21. Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san /
Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department

(131 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 21]

This is a parody series that has works tied to real life, though it doesn't take one to see that
the comedy in this can be quite shallow and on repeat. This is OK, I guess?

22. Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou /
Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest (Season 2)

(130.5 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 22]

A very noticeable improvement from the abominable prequel which had pacing and production issues
back in Summer 2019. At the very least, this is Ryo Shirakome's source material adapted right,
learnt from past mistakes to become another decent Isekai show.

23. Tribe Nine
(89.5 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 23]

Kazutaka Kodaka of Akudama Drive is back, and this is another one of Akatsuki and Too Kyo Games'
adaptation featuring baseball, but extreme. While this doesn't quite have the finesse of Akudama Drive,
the show standalone still needs some work to make it entertaining.

24. Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja / The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest
(75.75 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 24]

This is so awfully average, a Maou Gakuin rip-off but without any of the fizzazz that the former
offers to make it interesting. Seriously, does this show think that the audience are idiots of something?

25. Atasha Kawajiri Kodama Da yo: Dangerous Lifehacker no Tadareta Seikatsu /
I'm Kodama Kawashiri

(75.25 Points) [๐Ÿ‘‘: 25]

#3 is so high? Didnt expect it at all.
Overall I'm happy that SnK is not top1, but there are two things that broke my heart more than anything else. Takagi-san at #15 and absolutely no love for Yuuki Aoi the Animation aka Atasha Kawajiri. Smh not appreciating best seiyuu.
Also I love the "NANI THE FISH" addition. It makes me way more curious to check each rankings read them... and... I got 8 of them...

Attack on titan not being first on any of these bothers me. Is it some superiority complex thing hating popular things because it's objectively phenomenal.

I think it's interesting Akebi is 5th/10th on all scores. I think that's kinda cool we were all on the same page for a middle ratings

Dishing out the Tori results, even on his birthday, that's some real dedication right here :blobpat:

Results looking good, my Top 3 are in the Top 5 :3
But damn, I should've watched more than 20 shows, so that I can get myself a NANI THE FISH??? as well T_T
