 Avex Pictures opened an official website for the television anime adaptation of Tomoko Yamashita's Sankaku Mado no Sotogawa wa Yoru (The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window) manga on Thursday, and revealed the main cast, staff, first teaser visual (pictured), and teaser promotional video. | I haven't finished the whole manga but it's a great series. It has a heavy character-driven plot and the romance is almost minimal, so it'll be different from most BL adaptations so far such as Given/Umibe/Sasaki to Miyano (but it is indeed a BL, a lot of their interactions have a feeling of eroticism even though there's no smut). The staff is rather new but I'm hopeful they'll do a good job since the animation and music look nice from the PV. (Also I'm glad the news didn't put the SuBLime synopsis for the manga because damn that synopsis makes the series sound like some weird ghost porno. I mean they do sort of have metaphorical ghost sex but they're totally underselling the well-written plot.) |

Yes the plot definitely takes priority by a lot. I'd hesitate to even call it a "romantic subplot" though because their relationship lacks the typical butterflies, blushing stuff you'd see in regular romance storylines, and they certainly are not "in love" with each other for majority of the story, but they do have a very intense emotional bond and some sexual tension (but no smut). And don't expect a pure, wholesome relationship like Banana Fish/YOI/Given, the love interest is a messed up person and his behaviour is supposed to be occasionally unsettling/shady, but ultimately their relationship is complex and well-written. |

| Oh my god!! This looks good!! The art and soundtracks are nice and creepy, which really goes well with the story. Maybe I am a bit unsatisfied with Rihito's voice. He sounds like an old man, even though he's only 30 or 31. Or, it could just be that I am used to hearing his live action actor's voice. I have read the manga (not completely), but I still don't know if this is actual BL. It is a great occult detective story, and the BL is mostly just dialogues with sexual innuendoes. Still, I love occult detective stories, so I am looking forward to this one. |
