I love bedroom pop but someone else may think its the worst genre and nobody can argue because its all based on preference. My question is what is essential for YOU in a good song? | If it sounds good in my ears, it is a good song. If I were to state my preferences though... - A rhythm that catches my ears. Catchy rhythms are what get me to listen to a song in the first place. - Just the right amount of sound. Overproduced music can do more harm than good. - Memorable lyrics. At the very least, there should be a part of the song where the vocals have a section that you want to sing along to. - Some kind of twist in the second verse that differentiates it from the first verse. That slight variation can catch my attention even more. - A powerful bridge. I think the bridge is the part of the song that I anticipate listening to the most since it's where the song builds up before the final chorus. - Repeat the final chorus twice. I personally love it when the chorus at the end is repeated a second time but with a stronger voice. - A good finish to the song. Songs with a good closing have more impact to me than songs that don't. Not every song has to cover each of these criteria for me for them to sound good, but many of the songs I do like tend to cover most of these preferences. |
