Has the overall rating for a series ever influenced anyone's individual rating for it?

When you felt that the overall rating for a series or a particular season is blatantly overrated or underrated, has it ever affected your own rating for it even you know that one rating wouldn't do any change to the original rating?

Or I'm the only weird one?

You bet it did. Remaining impartial and objective is, like, a very developed thing to do, scoob. With the world we are living in, such level of personal development is not a common virtue.

I had a feeling that the average rating was affecting mine once I found myself going back to change my ratings for a bunch of shows. That's why, when rating an anime now, I consciously ask myself what my rating would be if the average were a 5. This helps me recalibrate.

My ratings are always independent from the rest of the world.
They are all based solely on my personal experience and expectations for that particular show and genre.

When I cared about the community's opinion I didn't dare to give series like Mushishi and Wan Piss a score lower than nine. Now that I have a mind on my own I can say that these boring, bland snoozefests that are Mushi(t)shi(t) and One Piece of Hot Garbage are 5/10 and 4/10 respectively because they're terrible, horrible and bad in nearly every aspect.

I used to rate based on "how much I'd recommend a show to a general audience", which was influenced by my perception of what general audiences might like.

Then later I stopped doing that because I realized it's just arbitrary what exactly I try to assume as a "general audience".

I realized I shouldn't "waste" my own ratings to try to voice the opinions of others. So I made the ratings entirely about my own opinion.

I select the anime I'llwatch thanks to the score, among others features, but it won't influence my final rating

Of course. All the time. I hate that everyone likes something which I dislike

I am pretty sure Digibro`s SAO video correlated to a decreased score for that anime. I think negative or positive reviews seen before watching a anime sets a precedant for expectations and enjoyment for that anime.

I'm asking myself to time to time why is the score so low or why is it so high.

But if it's have a impacted on my own raiting, no.

I give shows the raiting I think it deserves.

Scoring a show based on what mean score it has, sounds stupid as hell.

No I don't find it reasonable to have a bunch of faceless strangers affect my opinion

Imagine caring about MAL scores in the first place.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Sometimes I think, but I've rated anime series higher than the MAL scores, just like I've rated anime series lower.

No,i don´t like having other people influence my opinion when it´s supposed to be an accurate indication of my subjective tastes.Basically,i want someone going through my list,to get a good idea of my tastes and sensiblities when it comes to anime, not other people´s tastes.Or else what would be the point if all of your scores are based off what other people think?

Actually I'm saying that if you all think that any series is overrated or underrated.

For example, ideally the boruto manga would have been a 7/10 for me but I felt that it is too underrated. So I rated it 8.
On the other hand, the Tokyo ghoul √a anime felt too overrated so I rated it a 4 instead of 6.

Maybe a time or two I thought of riding off up or down because of that (when I felt something deserved things like 8.5)
