What happened to all the dedications and building your waifu a shrine ... now all I see are cheating pigs who cheat on their loving wife with seasonal whores fapping to their hot doujins, the anime equivalent of pornstars (not to be confused with hentai as nobody seems to care for those)!

To all to do this and have multiple wifes... you should feel ashamed! She deserves much better than a filthy cheater like you!

Well that's why we mainly refer to them as "best girl" in this current era.

As a guy who watched and read Kimagure Orange Road, I can say there's nothing wrong with cheating on your waifu. If a hoter girl appears, go with her, then, continue to go on dates with waifu.

I don't know many people who have Waifus, however I can say that I have indulged in the concept of having a Waifu for only about 3 years. If it is dead, give it time, it'll pick up.

As long as individuals like myself exist, waifuism can't truly die.
As long as you of the light exist, I of the darkness will continue to exist as well. Attempting to destroy me is a futile effort.

I've never really understand this topic. A majority of characters who are considered "waifu" material, if was somehow brought to real life, would be annoying to be around. Maybe I'm missing something.

Same, same. Why choose, if there are more great characters out there? I love them on the same level. Also, most of them aren't waifu- or husbando material. They are just characters I love. Some of them are waifu or husbando material tho. It depends on the fact, if I'd fall for them in real.

Waifuism will never die. In fact most of the idol shows are popular because of waifuism and they are certainly best selling ones in japan.

I wouldn't say that it's dying. I'm not sure how waifuism looked in the past, it's possible that the nature of it is changing into less extreme form as it's becoming more widely adopted. Nonetheless plenty of people have waifus (including me) and will probably continue to do so for a long time to come. And lusting for other girls as well doesn't necessary mean one is cheating on their waifu imo. In the end waifus are matter of the heart, so as long as one does not cheat with that I don't think it can be considered cheating.

The way I see it is... having more than 2 or so 2D waifus is considered cheating to her in the 2D verse. Not even to mention if they are from the same series. That is just wrong on a moral level!

With 3D waifu it is different because she is from your dimension and you can be in love with her romantically as your 2D waifu also may have romantic love for her lover in the 2D world, that is natural. Also I think loving and lusting after them are two different things.

Love and lust are different things yes, but if you apply real live logic to this claim it is still cheating and the person/character in question may or may not be ok with it in real life so why does the 2Dverse make a difference? I guess it also can depend on who you waifu ofc.

But waifu'n a sweet precious girl and then cheating on her with another hot slut cause of lust leaves a bad taste to me...

Firstly I apologise, since this will be long.

I have always had a waifu, a mistress and a girlfriend. So I have in a sence always had a harem, not just a single waifu.

Also a pure relationship with your waifu is described as admiring her and looking forward to her performance in anime, manga, games and protecting her from others who didn't like her character for whatever reason.

I feel that enjoying my waifu in a doujinshi or fan made p**n pics manner is also acceptable. Not to mention that it's not cheating if I crush on a character from a newly airing anime, since I am and will never discard any of the waifus in my harem. I love, respect and will always remember them, from my first crush 15 years ago to my recent crush in 2018.

I'm not polygamous so for me the whole harem notion seems unacceptable and shallow, but you be you... I guess.

I don't think so as long as you are not in love with one character already while doing so...

Yeah, I agree having several waifus is a cheating of sorts which is why I prefer to just have 1. Though occasionally there are other girls that are rather appealing as well I don't really call them waifus and keep that for only 1 girl.

What I would disagree with is that masturbating to other girls would be that same as cheating on her, just as doing that with a real wife/girlfriend would be hardly considered cheating on her. I would say that's rather extreme form of waifuism which I don't even was a major part of it and I would expect is more of an exception than standard.

It certainly depends on waifu too though. For example Nero Claudius from Fate/Extra
so if she is your waifu it could hardly be cheating. Though for vast majority having several of them could be considered as such. But in the end I just wouldn't take it that seriously as to accuse people who have several waifus of doing something bad.

Hey, hey, heyyyy! What's "cheating," really? I say free love, maaaaannnnn! There's too many waifu/husbando fish in the anime sea to cuff just one. I'm more than willing to have other people take my waifus and husbandos as their own, so why shouldn't I also be allowed to have multiple spouses, as well? Amiriiiiiite?
Have you done your punches of gratitude today?

Feel free to wank on however many 2d girls you feel like mate, goodness knows they won't care.

Boy did my LtA IQ just drop a notch just by writing that. Do carry on.

And just to be pedantic, a harem has nothing to do with polygamy, that's polyamory if you really want to classify it in such a way (in anime it's not really even that but let's not delve too deep today).
"The problem with defining even an aspect of your personality by something that you like, is that criticism of that product appears to you to be criticism of you personally. I find it to be a very harmful attitude, [...] you can't rationally discuss a product because you've started to define yourself by its very existence."

No, it's just that the fandom is growing and people then get introduced to these concepts and they change as a result.

I don't like seasonal waifuism either, that feels more like treating the characters like disposable cum-dumps and waifuism was never about that at its core. I've grown more tolerant of people claiming waifu harems, but I refuse to claim one myself.

The H&E server has changed a lot on this topic in the past couple of years as well. It used to be that as much as changing your waifu was a bad note, the memberbase would give you shit for and your name color in the discord server would be changed to a shit brown. We had a dumb event a while back where we mimicked the Protestant Reformation and the Thirty Years' War with it and allowing people to have harems versus people who didn't want people to have more than one waifu, which was a lot of fun imo. The Thirty Years' war may have only be the Four Days' War, but meh.

Either way, yeah, it's changing but not dead. I don't like a lot of the changes myself, and I guess I'm conservative/traditionalist when it comes to this topic, given that this is the point of view that treats it as only ever being applicable to one character and one character only that's being elevated above the rest as something special.

A harem is surely not the same, generally speaking.
Usually a harem treats one of the people (like most times the male in these series and in real) as someone above the other members of it and the women in his harem as his property, more or less. Of course they aren't his property in these series, but it never feels at eye level.
Poly stuff is more about treating everyone in it with the same affection, fair and at eye level.

Btw about fictional characters, I can't see why this would be shallow? You like them for different reasons, but not less than only liking one character?
