I was worried about the animation style at first... until I realized it's from the studio that animated Houseki no Kuni. The CGI looked really good in the first episode. The character animation was solid; facial animation was expressive, not stiff at all. The storyboarding was great as well.

(For rough subtitles click CC and auto-translate) There was a murder right at the start. It was kind of an afterthought to the highschool drama, but it will definitely come back into play later on. This is shaping up to be one of the front runners for the Fall 2019 season. Looking forward to it.

Can't get better CGI for a TV show honestly, which is a great compliment knowing how few have actually used this animation effectively (ok, except most Mecha flicks !)

Now I'm just excited to see the full episode instead of being cut in the middle of interesting tidbits, lol.

I did not expect much. But the CGI is better than expected.
Studio Orange knows what it does.

Now it's hoping they don't cut so much manga content.

What does fafner exodus have to do with Beastars? Idk about you but this CG is literally some of the best in years. It's so expressive and well done, which is a staple for Orange set up by Houseki no Kuni. Yes, the Cg is very different from the sketchy artstyle of the manga, but that's the beauty of an adaptation. It's not just some copy/paste kind of stuff, it's something unique and also interesting. Your expectation for 3D CG and your unwillingness to give things a chance shows your ignorance, that's all I'm going to say

The CG is weird on this one vs houseki no kuni, it goes from amazing to weird from scene to scene.

Also I know why they do it on 2D anime but why do they keep the 12(or less) frames per second when they move to 3D? it's not like they have to manually move the models each frame(and if they do they're crazy) and it just makes perfectly fine looking scenes look janky as fuck.

The scenes with loads of movements and expressions aren't caped from what I'm looking at. Honestly, I could probably identify like 2/3 moments this happen specifically.
Anywoo, I'm no expert, still so I don't know any specific reason to do that than maybe because when scenes have higher frames they feel smoother and it goes well with the action/movement on the screen.
I'd maybe weird if more subtle, talking and simply standing shots had the same frame than when stuff is supposed to race.

Not sure, but I think they lower the FPS for better 2D immersion. Sometimes they merge 3D with 2D, so lowering the CGI's FPS doesn't leave too much contrast between the two.

The problem IMO are those scenes, scenes where the focus are the character movements since the camera is not moving, from that trailer I know there are several times this happens but to me the worst is the girl talk at 0:48 and there is nothing else than the 3D models so DimitriTheodisen explanation that does make sense in most instances doesn't work there.

Yeah, Kai (Mongoose) is dubbed by Bakugou's VA xD
They say there's no such place... as Paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the earth, there's nothing there. No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road. It just goes on and on. But in spite of that, why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me. It says 'Search for Paradise!' "

I knew it. Okamoto Nobuhiko is perfect for Kai since he's great when it comes to voicing short-tempered characters.
