My take on this is that there was another element that clicked with NTR and traumatized you, probably a trait of the girl/couple you unconsciously idealized. Perhaps reading unrelated NTR could give you a better idea on the situation, if not all the NTR make you that uncomfortable then it was something else. As for the mental scarring, it won't likely disappear completely, I talk from experience here.
