So I was originally just gonna make CE thread about the Grid Girl being banned, because they are seen as objectifying women but I think there is a a more obvious thing that people seem to be forgetting... these women are losing their jobs lol. It's not just Grid girls either "Walk on Girls" in professional darts are also getting fired.

It seems culturally this sort of thing is going to spread throughout all sports and women that are just there for promotion or accessories are all going to lose their job. I don't think this will affect cheerleaders though considering that actually takes skill, but I imagine any other sport where there are just girls around holding signs and looking pretty are probably not gonna last.

As for my personal thoughts... I actually think this is a good thing. Aside from straight up modeling (which I still don't find that great) I don't really feel like people should be relying on something shallow and superficial like appearance. They should really focus on more useful and permanent things rather than something that fades away with time and that can be replicated with make-up and filters/photoshop. Its good that these girls are getting a wake-up call and either they can go into modeling full-time or they need to actually go and develop some real skills.

i just finish watching that Jordan Peterson video on VICE youtube channel after reading your thread about it and he implies that male and females in the work place is wrong right? because women tend to be sexualize with high heels and lipstick making the men sexually arouse so there is tension in the work place, so you support Jordan Peterson on that one?

I chose no. Objectification is interacting with any human with an impersonal intent. It’s like treating anybody like an object. But the thing is I ask myself all the time, why is it bad? Everybody gets objectified all the time. You have to elaborate more in your post.

Well as far as who is pushing this... it should be pretty obvious, if you just look at the video you can see the type of women arguing for and against this.

These are high paying jobs they chose of their own free will, does it even count as objectification?
they were basically human advertisements, same as models. /modeling Full time is probably the only option they'll have and Modeling as a 'by commission' job so they wont be earning nearly as much unless one of them makes it big or some of them go back to college.
They got fucked over, there's no excuse for that.

Yeah that's exactly what I don't like lol. That's definitely a perversion of what feminism means, of course women can still get jobs just for being beautiful. In my book at least ;)

I mean, if it's for something like a sporting event O_o

Obviously you don't want to do it in journalism too... hnnnnggg... hot journalists....

I feel like the foundation of the against position should be "Nobody cares."
Humans can value each other using more than one quality. Even if we wanted to "humanize" this objectification, we wouldn't have the time to get to know everyone who makes our lives easier. If I took a few minutes from my day to talk with anyone who provides a service to me, then I wouldn't have any time do anything else.

I don’t care. I really don’t care. If you want to have a job where you objectify yourself, I don’t give a fuck.

They aren't banned for objectification they stopped hiring them to make larger proffits in a dying sporting event and just made the other stuff up to cover their ass.

Objectification is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away

It's not the companies that are on the news shows defending the banning and firing of these women.

I'm not saying that these professions should be kept. I actually agree with the feminists in the sense that they are just there for decoration and not really a part of the sport and that this is just promoting superficiality and shallowness. If they want to model, they can do modeling full-time. If they want to be a part of sports they should learn how to play the sport and get to the professional level.

The people that hired them are literally the only people capable of firing them. Like I said the sport is dying so they aren't making as much money. They were just looking for a scapegoat to disguise their real reasons to also act as a PR stunt to get attention.

Yes it's ultimately the companies at the end of the day that are letting go of the positions, but if you think it's only because they want to save money, you're mixing up cause and effect. It's like that doing this might even make them lose money, considering a lot of the girls were used for "promotion" and people that don't like this move for w.e reason (they might think its politically correct or they don't like that the girls lost their jobs etc.) might just stop watching. It's a pretty divisive thing to do.

Notice how you never heard of this till now after it happened and nothing before? Where were all these people trying to get rid of it? I don't think there ever was a significant amount to have any impact.

Even feminists object with their eyes, there needs to be a better reason to justify banning it.

Absolutely not, because that would mean porn stars would be out of work.

Nobody should lose their job unless they can't perform their job, it should have nothing to do with political views or appearance or any of the other retarded reasons.
