I can't believe I'll start to ship gorou x fumi what are you doiNg tO mE sEnSeI
OK WHAT UP I literally came here to post because I was so mad at Akatsuki sensei in this chapter and the last. I mean I get that you're not good with relationships, but really? 51 chapters in, at 20+ years of age and you're still like that??? God.
SPOILERS AHEAD.
So for those who aren't caught up, he has this editor/assistant/whatever girl he's been working with recently who happens to be a long term fan of his. They even went on a work trip together out of town, and it's blatantly stated that the girl is interested in him. Fumi is jealous because she thinks the girl is mature and pretty and everything she isn't, but as usual she keeps her negative thoughts bottled to herself.
That girl (I can't even be bothered to find her romanised name) is a down to earth and really sweet girl. She's shy but also low key making a move on Akatsuki (trying to extend their work trip, inviting him to discuss about work in a restaurant BUT treating it as a date), but here's the thing: she asked Akatsuki if he had a girlfriend. He said no, there isn't anyone like that.
And at that very moment I was like ????? no???? N O??? R U SURE???? and I thought OK calm down, he's probably going to say something cheesy to make up for this by the end of the chapter...
But no. Nothing happened. Okay so the night before Akatsuki had a slight quarrel with the previous night over the phone, because he felt unhappy about Fumi having dinner with Gorou while he wasn't around. And no of course he didn't tell her how he felt, and of course the best way as a reasonable adult is to chide her for not going to bed early because she's a kid (/sarcasm). Wtf?
So because of that Fumi hung up on him (she felt incredibly guilty afterwards though) and the next day he cancelled all his appointments to go back. This warmed my heart a little because he clearly cared enough about Fumi being alone with Gorou, since Gorou has outright hinted about his fondness for her in front of him.
Which brings me to the parallels drawn here. Because of his denial, the assistant/editor girl assumed he was unattached, but she was still sceptical. At this point in time she felt friendly enough with Fumi to try and confirm it with her... Can you imagine it? A nice, older lady who's pretty and happens to be a fan of your boyfriend who can understand and help him with his work telling you he said he was single, and that she will try harder so she can win his affections. Yeah :)
Fumi acts like she doesn't know anything because she wasn't sure how to react. The next day she wakes up and sees Akatsuki all dressed up, turns out he has a meeting with the editor girl to clear up all of the work he left behind previously. He gave Fumi the souvenirs he bought (nail polish) and she's really happy about it... until the doorbell rang, lol. Editor girl is here, all dressed up for the "date" with souvenirs too! She sees Fumi holding the nail polish and said she's glad Fumi likes it, she chose these colours because she thought it would suit her. Fumi is stunned because obviously she thought Akatsuki had chosen those himself, and I think that's when she couldn't take it anymore, especially after noticing how the girl dressed differently today.
So she musters the courage and tried saying something wilful for once, She told Akatsuki not to go because she's jealous, and hurt that he said he was single. The girl obviously has her motives by choosing a restaurant and dressing up like that, it's obvious she's treating it as a date. Here comes the WTF part, after an entire night of forcing her to say what was making her upset the day before Akatsuki finally gets it, but he proceeds to dismiss her feelings and berate her for badmouthing the girl (I quote, "she isn't someone like that"), implying she's immature and that he has no time for something like this. Blah blah, Fumi runs out of the house and goes to the park, thinking about how immature she is and how it's natural that Akatsuki would take his editor's side. She starts crying because of how hurt she feels (IT ALSO STARTS RAINING FML), and the chapter ends with Gorou holding an umbrella above her in concern.
I'm okay with whoever able to make Fumi happy. As for sensei, if he wouldn't out more effort in the relationship, then I think he should go out with someone else who could bear his indifference. I also don't think the editor girl would be his match. He's polite and kind because she's his editor. I know he still has feelings for Fumi. But he's too cold. Too cold it starts to hurt both of them.
It's turning into another Hirunaka no Ryuusei I better start shipping her with Gorou, I was never a fan of Sensei's personality in the first place but I had hopes he'll work on his flaws instead of complicating their rs.
I hate thissssss why ;_; i feel so sad this is so frustrating. seeing fumi crying just made things worse. Akatsuki is so daft and needs to take a fucking hint and express his own feelings honestly. He may call Fumi a kid but he's doing no effort to be open and considerate or put himself in her shoes.
