I lol'd.

Anyway, no, I wouldn't name my kid after an anime character, even if that character did have a normal sounding name. My interest in anime doesn't extend that far into my life.

There are some very strange names in anime but also some very good ones. So even if you don't live in Japan and especially in an English language nation names like those can be helpful while you search for a good name for your child.
Here are some:
Saya
Kari
Claire
Al
Edward
Rei
Anna (That probably goes with most countries of the world)
Faye
Nicol
Andrew
Mai.
Actually you can find even names like John, Frank,Alex,Eva and more in anime. So you basically have no problem naming your child after an anime character.

Maybe, if it could be taken as a semi-normal English name. I wouldn't give my kid a Japanese name since, well, it would just be weird around here and I'm not even Japanese so...^^;

Aya, Amane are names that we use in my country, so it would be ok to use them, but using Japanese names? nah, it would be very awkward

It's up to you..and anyhow it really depends on the name.
There are soooo many names that are pretty in their meanings, especially in japanese =]
But they really sound weird for an american child or any other.

Yeah, prob. Some anime names can also be other asian names, like Yuri and Yuki, and since I'm asian, it wouldn't seem very odd (unless the surname is not). Risa, Rena, Ren, Rika sounds pretty normal, too.
;DD

I was thinking, at a point, to name my kid Nana, Ayu or Yuri.
ANDDDDD, ad one point, Nanami, but I think that really doesn't fit the kid if they weren't Japanese. ;x

However, it sometimes is very cool to have a unique and foreign name, IMO. Like my friend's name is Mei Ling, and me being Chinese, thought it was very pretty, but she looked completely white (although she's half/half).

And like Brangelina..
MADDOX? Pax? Zahara? Shiloh? Knox? Vivienne (although I like this one a lot!)
A lot of people praise the name Maddox and some others, so yeah.
Go figure.

I should be a real fanatic over a certain character to name my child after him/her. Just for the fun of it won't work. Kids are cruel and I wouldn't want my chilcren to get all beat up because they have an odd name from a cartoon. My kids are destined to have normal mortal people's names. Although, if I were Japanese, those Japanese names could work. Other than that - no way.

No. But I have a list of all the characters of all anime I've ever watched so I name my pets after them. xD

The last one was Shigure Sohma. :3 (the poor dog died last year though, he was only 2 years old =( )

It's not technically anime, though there was an OVA. I plan on naming My first born son Lloyd, after both the character in ToS, who had many characteristics that I wish I had, as well as a character in a book who had many characteristics I value in myself.
