Am I the only one that finds similarities between the Parasytes and the Piller Men?

I mean , both are not human , both feed of them (depends of Prasyte´s owner), they can modify their structure and they can also posses humans and give them abilities

Seeing this, do you think that the Piller Men inspired the Parasytes or was it the opposite way?

The parasites are not as fabulous as the Pillar Men, though.

haven't watched Jojo so I wouldn't know
but I do think the parasites are similar to the Thing in a few aspects

JoJo and Parasyte both deal in similar brands of body horror, though as far as I remember most of the examples of similarities are in Stardust Crusaders.

JoJo Part 2 came out 2 years before the Parasyte manga started so IF anything influenced anything here it's pretty clear which direction the influence went.
I probably regret this post by now.

well it can't be the opposite
according to the Jojo wiki the chapter they first appeared in came out November 9, 1987
and Kiseijuu’s manga came out Nov 22, 1989
now if they are inspired by them is something up to debate but I don't think we can find a clear answer
but they could of easily been inspired by The Thing from 1982 which is based off a book from the 1930s if I'm not mistaken as well
darn 4 minutes to late after @Pullman

I believe pillar men can feed on anything with their favourite prey being vampires.
Since when do pillar men posses and give powers to humans
I'm not knowledgable on Parasyte, but I don't see how a weird sentient hand is directly influenced by the Aztec Gods of Fitness. Maybe the body modifiying by even then it is kind of a stretch.

Moved from Anime Discussion

This isn't really an explicit vs. thread, but it strays very close to one. But, I'll treat it as being a thread trying to understand the relationships between the two and leave it at that.

Well... I really don't believe that the Pillar Men of JoJo (who were first created and introduced in 1987) inspired the Parasytes, but I think that both can be inspired in the 1982 movie The Thing.
