Not that I have anyone to exchange contact info with, but still, get with the times everyone that's not glorious nippon!

everywhere but glorious nippon:
Gaijin A: "My number is 000-000-0000."
Gaijin B: "000-000... Sorry, what was that last part?"
A: "0000"
B: "000...0?"
A: "No, 0!"
B: "0"
B: "Okay, mine is 000-000-0000."
A: "000-000... Sorry, what was that last part?"
B: "0000"
A: "000...0?"
B: "No, 0!"
A: "0"
A: "Okay. See you later, BROSKI! FUCK!"
B: "Oh, wait! What's your email?"
A: "XXXXX@X.com"
B: "XXXX...?"
A: "X@X.com!"
B: "X@X.com"
B: "Okay, mine is XXXXX@X.com"
A: "XXXX...?"
B: "X@X.com!"
A: "X@X.com"
B: "Okay. See you later, DUDE MAN! SHIT!"

glorious nippon:
*both hold out phone*
"ja ne!"

So....what if you inadvertently give your personal info to someone you didn't mean to cuz your phones were close by or whatever?

Also....aren't these the same Japanese that still have fucking flip phones and shit?

No thanks.

I think you have to press a button or something first.

Also, they're advanced flip phones.

Oh ok....it would make sense to push a button so you don't just send your info to some random person...

lol, advanced flip phones.

For a technological giant, it seems Japan, hasn't realized that it's the [Current Year]...

Because unlike those ancient flip phones, most smartphones these days don't even have infrared in the first place. IIRC, cellphone manufacturers stopped including it because with faster technologies like bluetooth and especially wifi, there wasn't much use for it.

I'm not entirely sure, but can't you exchange contact info through NFC? Turn on NFC on android device, and slap it on another android device, then bam. I'm not sure though cause I don't have real friends use NFC.

Wow, I can't believe I got ninja'd.
I don't think I've used NFC either, but that's apparently what it does!

that's pretty outdated and back in the day we also had this technology. if i remember correctly, my pre-war motorola could do it - never used it. nowadays there are better methodes, e.g. QR codes

wow, cos it's so hard and inconvenient to give someone your number. Sounds like one of those pointless lame technologies that hardly ever even works.
Also, flip phones are so 2005

Technically we use this technology on a daily basis right?

E.g. when you're at a bus stop, advertisements would often have QR codes for their promos or products. Smart phone users would just use a scanner app and aim it towards the code. Boom you're done

Same goes for social media like Snapchat for instance. To exchange contact info on that platform, just take out the app and have the opposite user scan your own QR code then vice versa.
