I don't really watch anime(one punch man is the only anime I watch) so I don't know if this happened already but is it the first anime where a villain's defeat will make you sad? I think Boros defeat will even make me cry if they play their usual sad OST on that scene.

Because it's tragic. Saitama will never find an opponent that can fight him equally.

It's rare but some well developed villains can make one really sad or emotional sometimes. As an example you have Meruem from the anime Hunter x Hunter

It's pretty common, if it's a sympathetic villain.

So he's gonna be sympathetic? Shit, just when I expected a Broly 2.0...

I don't think it is gonna be "sad" ... it is gonna be an epic moment between Saitama and Boros.
Boros is a realy good and powerful character and villain. And realy enjoyable to watch... but Boros is more of a villain that brings goosebumps instead of making you sad. He is badass.

boros is not sympathetic at all. but he's not on broly's level of psychotic evil either.

As a manga reader I didn't feel all that sad XD But I will say a villain I got really attached to in OPM would be Garou. Although he was introduced in the anime for like 3 seconds XD I really do like him in the Manga. So when he goes against Saitama I'll be pretty upset XD But then I might not be after a while. I've seen some stuff about him in the Webcomic but i'm gonna wait until the manga Reaches the Saitama vs Garou Arc.

People can't understand anything that isn't spelled out to them. Boros is basically Saitama. A guy that became so strong he stopped finding his match. He left his home and traveled the universe just for a reading someone gave him in the hopes of finding that match. He's not just some evil villain that came to destroy Earth because "I'm supposed to be evil". Really he couldn't care less about the place.

Now see it from Saitama's point of view, a guy that traveled for so many years around the universe didn't find his match until he arrived there. What does that spell out for Saitama?

It's not "bring me the tissue box" sad, but it isn't so simple either.

Garou is really not sad either, but he's a great villain. I really don't want to see him die cause he does have a lot of potential

Nah, it's hard to have Sympathy for Boros, Saitama tried so hard to get him to just stop fighting since he understood what he was going through, but when Boros realized everything up to that moment was just Saitama pitying him, well...he forced Saitama's hand (literally) to finish it.

I don't really recall any villains I saw as particularly sympathetic. Garou is a little bit... but he doesn't exactly qualify either.

Did you cry or felt sad for Mumen Rider?

If yes, then how can you not feel sad for Boros when the same thing literally happened to him

That's like a trillionaire complaining that he can't find anyone as rich as he is. Not really that tragic lol.

Are you implying that having lots of wealth is equal in terms of excitment as having battles that bring you close to the border of life and death? If you say so...

"I want to get hurt in battles. I want pain and suffering. I want to be in a life or death situation. Such exitment!"
Eh, thx, but I guess anyone in their right minds would perfer having lots of wealth, honestly. I don't know how can you find exitment by having yourself beaten up xD

That's an extreme misunderstanding you are making there. "Wanting to get hurt" is not the motive here. Being hurt is merely considered proof that the enemy is skilled and the thought "if I make a mistake it's my death" is what gives the same feeling of excitement as extreme sports. Triumphing over an enemy that is seen as "dangerous" gives a boost in self confidence.

Take Saitama's dream in EP1 for example. Did the wounds make Saitama feel good? No. He clearly says what does: "This rush, this tension! It's been so long, I forgot the exhilaration of a real fight!". Nowhere does Saitama mention that being wounded in itself make him in any way happy...

Infinite wealth and infinite strength are somewhat the same in the sense that the perceived tragedy of not having anyone on your level is a result of being way way wayyyyyyy too successful.

But yeah the extreme sports example is a better one: Saitama is like a tight-rope walker that's gotten so skilled, he can hop on one toe across a flimsy tightrope on the Grand Canyon even on the windiest of days. And because he can do that, he no longer feels any excitement from tightrope walking, and thus feels so very very saddened. >_> <_<.

I.e. not all that tragic. You can understand why he's unhappy, but it's not exactly something that would make you scream "OH THE HUMANITY! D:" :p

Hardly the same thing.

LLR sacrificed for the good of the people, despite knowing his limitations and wanting to do the right thing, even if it was only to buy time till the people could run away or a stronger hero could come to save the day. A Behavior he's had since at LEAST middle school.

Boros was simply selfish and wanting to get his rocks off on fighting a close battle and was having fun all the way up till he realized what was really going on. Hell he ENSLAVED HIS ENTIRE CREW after crushing their worlds and forced them to serve him or die.

I will tell you what is tragic. It will be tragic if the author will keep writing super badass villains that fall to one baldy's punch. That is beyond tragic.
