| You will most likely get spoiled before you even watch it. Personally I don't care whether I cried on it or not, it's still one of the best Anime ever created, so you don't really have to cry while watching to enjoy it. Just chill and immerse yourself in it to get the most out of it. Both Clannad and Clannad Afterstory are great anime, so you should watch them and have an opinion for yourself rather than go and try to ask others. |

| I just started watching Clannad this morning and finished the first season, hm I cried like twice because of two of the sub stories/arc I guess whatever you call it. I heard Clannad AS is sad af.. so I'm not really ready for it. Probably gonna start watching the 2nd season later. |

| Only Clannad: After Story, which is it's sequel. It isn't necessary to watch Clannad first, but I highly recommend it for it can have a bigger emocional impact on Clannad: After Story. |

| It honestly depends on your sensitivity. There is a lot of tear-jerking scenes in the first series, and while these scenes are legitimately tragic, they'll only make some people tear up. After Story's saddest moments, however? It's nigh-on impossible to avoid tearing up at that. Maeda is a master at getting his viewers to care about his characters and the small victories they form as they bond with others, so when the high point of emotion occurs in the second season, you'll be hard-pressed not to let it all out. |
