I watched FMA:B a few months ago and i thought it was excellent.I heard there was an older version which was anime original.I heard its dark and shit,i don't mind dark. But does it follow the same thing till how much.I mean how much of it does it follow the manga's plot.So i can watch from the episode the anime original starts.Sorry for bad english. In a hurry and typing on phone. Also im not sure to which board to post this in so if this is the wrong board, please dont ban me and move it in the right one

No. FMA: B > FMA.

Brotherhood is the remake of the 1st one.

2003 follows manga plots before Nina's Arc and it could be considered as original anime. You could watch it from episode 1 because it has different plot and ending.

Do watch! It has an almost completely different feel from Brotherhood. Bro'hood is more cathartic but if you don't mind a grim ambience then you ought to enjoy the first series. I know I did. For an anime-original story, it's remarkably well written.

I first started with Brotherhood then I stopped a few episodes in because I hear FMA (2003) was worse than BH. I'm so glad I did, I don't think I would have been able to finish it if I had completed BH first then 2003. The plot in 2003 just went to shit near the end X_X

Lust is better in the 2003 version, and Lust is great, so yes you should watch FMA 2003, for Lust.

If you're craving more FMA then go ahead. (Remember to watch the movie also!)

The original FMA is worth watching because it offers things that FMAB does not. It's ultimately a very different story. If you can watch it with an open mind, it's very rewarding.

You would have to watch it from the very beginning, as there are plot-essential alterations from the source material that happen gradually throughout the show.

FMA:B was better than FMA, but if you have time then go ahead and give it a try, then proceed to Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shamballa after finishing FMA.

Eh, Shamballa can be done without.
