Nope. I am a male, meaning I am superior, and women are supposed to keep their mouth shut, and do what I tell them to at all times, or else they receive a sound beating.

When you've grown up around classical enthusiasts like I did, you pick up a thing or two.

Believe me, they're out there

I've been nothing but classically trained in music. And there aren't any repertoire not requiring you to know how to play baroque. And 99% of the time it's Bach.

I agree with you on one part but I disagree with you on the other. Bach can be disliked, in fact a lot of people dislike (by people I mean students) but he is not under appreciated. One thing I came to realize, it is usually the greenhorns who are against bach (or the baroque era) in general. Kids who think that romantic and 20th century>all

Ive seen kids go through it, I'VE been through it. My teacher used to say that one either loves bach or hates him in the beginning. Lol

But that's not the point tho....

Ah, well. We really ought to stop derailing the thread now tho.

I definitely agree with you on the greenhorn part. To me, playing Bach is finger exercise on the piano. It's where I practice my accuracy and articulation. I appreciate its orthodox-ness and respect it. Amateurs can't play Baroque well because they don't understand it.

Yup. Always preferred Scarlatti or couperin over Bach. Always though his music was the on the boring side compared to his baroque contemporaries, BUT I never really played bach when I was kid. When I was kid I was introduced to him through the inventions and the 3 part sinfonia which back then I thought were pretty boring. When I started playing his prelude and fugues, his toccatas, partitas...oh god...it's like my entire views of him changed...

I can't stress this enough, those preludes and fugues should be a mandatory study to every single pianist. changed my life yo.

Now Scarlatti is someone that's under appreciated/not respected enough. Yes, Bach's prelude and fugues are simply so crucial in training. Without the right teacher kids just screw them up so badly and do whatever, not knowing the amount of technical difficulty in the pieces. Sometimes I see 12-13 y/os just slurring through, not articulating enough, or they aren't bringing out the right/third voice. It's abominable.

No, I'm not a virgin but losing your virginity should not be one of your priorities in your teen years. People make a much bigger deal out of it than they should. If you and whoever you're with are willing to go that far then by all means do it, but making it into a competition defeats the purpose and is not good for your psyche.
Agree, but i think that it's special, not a big deal but still a good part of life...
