There's a pretty self explanatory theory that says every event is DIRECTLY influenced by the events before it. If this is true, isn't free will an illusion and the World, along with all humans, fated to move along a certain path towards a predetermined destiny. Mind = Blown. If my great great grandmomma would've had eaten her broccoli, i would have been born much smarter. Cursed fate. *cries in a corner*

according to science like neuroscience free will is an illusion, but physics says their still free will because of randomness like chaos theory and quantum mechanics uncertainty principle so science is in conflict with this

if their is destiny/fate then the universe is about determinism

personally i change my mind now that i think the reality is not deterministic like how come a lot of children die at random times, babies that died in the womb never reach their potential? or that people with a random event/situation meet their death

I don't buy into strict determinism.

Taking the concept of fate in a less rigid view, most of the good things in my life have just appeared without work from me. Actually thinking about it, if I start going against the flow so to speak everything goes to shit.

My pastor describes the combination of freewill and predetermined paths like this. (You might not know the street/city used in this example. Also of course this is a Christian version and that path being to heaven.)

"If you're on San Pablo (God's plan for you and your walk with God) driving to Berkeley (Heaven) you're on a predetermined path to Berkeley. But you can turn off of San Pablo onto any of the side streets (False idols, addiction, sin etc.) those are wrong ways to get to Berkeley and you wont get there unless you go back on San Pablo."

So you do have freewill and you can use it to follow the path God has laid out for you or not.

I don't believe in fate, but it sounds cool when you tell people that was the reason of you meeting them.

I hate the word “fate.” Birth, encounters, partings, success and failures, fortune and misfortunes in life. If our lives are already set in stone by fate, then why are we even born? There are those born to wealthy families, those born to beautiful mothers, and those born into the middle of war or poverty. If that’s all caused by fate, then God is incredibly unfair and cruel. Because, ever since that day, none of us had a future and the only certain thing was that we wouldn’t amount to anything.

There's no such thing as fate in my opinion. Though there is something called chance. For instance, I'm not destined to meet a lion tomorrow because the odds of me actually seeing one due to a number of reasons are very low. I'm on the other hand "destined" to watch some anime, because the chance of that actually happening judging from how I live my life is pretty high.

It depends im in two minds. If im going by total logic the idea of a predetermined fate doesn't seem right but then again its possible. Depends if reality is running on a loop and restarts every few trillions of years or whatever. Now if that were true then it would mean everything in the universe is repeated over and over albeit in a very long cycle. If the universe expands, slows and begins to come back together then maybe it just repeats, explodes out again and so on like a big ass yo yo.

i don't think life repeats , i mean when someone says fate don't mix things like im gonna watch that today and do that tommorrow it's not like that it's simply like the date of your death or way you are gonna die or who are you gonna become , etc...

Not really , i mean if i'm opposite my religion then why getting into it from the first so no i'm just asking myself little questions ,

i didn't change my mind now i changed years ago , anyway i'm a Muslim so if you read the Quran you will know ~ it really tells a lot of specific details every single thing happened in this world was meant to be by god and even god said this to the prophet mohammed and you can find it in the holy quran

If that's what you believe then it's perfectly fine. Just remember to take everything with a grain of salt and prioritize rational thinking while still staying true to your religion. It's not dangerous to question things remember that.

I don't believe in fate. But I don't believe that we're the ones that make our destiny.
It think everything it's random. Shit just happens. There's no reason behind it.

You might say this is the very definition of ignorance. I know, but remember the saying - ignorance is bliss.
People who think too much are not happy. I'd rather live like a fool. It's easier this way

I always wonder when someone has a child if that same child would have been born if the mother got pregnant to someone else, yet just looked differently appearance wise. I think if my mum never got with my dad my sister or I would have never been born, and I wonder if it was fate which lead my parents together in order for my sister and I to be brought into this world in the first place. Something tells me that there's something about fate that's true. Even if you go through bad situations and during the time you feel horrible, usually if that situation never happened you wouldn't have ended up in another particular situation which is good.

More so than not. No matter the awareness you have about whatever choices you do make I find it harder to argue that whichever 1 you did pick wasn't all but sorted already. Kinda depressing.

So it's like, given a specific situation, our reactions would be always the same, but still fate doesn't exist because the situation themselves are random.
Therefore reality is free from fate, yet we aren't.
