I was just wondering like since most animes follow a manga, how long would it take to produce one episode if anyone know??? Take Bleach for example, best example probably, since they are so close to the manga, since they release it weekly, especially when they are following the manga, would they be releasing the episode they have just finished off, or would they be ahead a few episode of the one they have released?? mind my english, its hard to make this coherent!

Considering that you need like 60 frames (as in drawings. Or more) to generate a single movement, plus colour. Even if you have a giant studio with a person to work on each frame, it still takes its time.

I assume they have a few in advance, in the sudden case that the key animator gets hospitalised or something. With weekly shounen series like Bleach, the animation is not that sophisticated. Recycling frames or keeping the effect to a minimum reduce the animation time quite a lot.

I thought that for 13 / 26 episode series, a great deal of episodes are made in advance, if not all. Hench the overall better quality of animation.

Averages would be difficult to work out, since it can vary a great deal from project to project and studio to studio, and most things are, as has already been mentioned, usually produced in advance to airing. Not to mention production teams tend to be rather secretive about the processes involved, so it's difficult to find any solid information.

I do recall reading a couple years back that Naruto and Bleach are produced week to week, though I'm not sure if it's 100% true -- for generic episodes I can imagine it being the case, but some of the higher quality key fight episodes would probably take a while longer. Plus there are other factors such as the seiyuu being busy with other projects, and only being available to record on certain days meaning they'd have to record a few episodes of dialogue at a time, to mention just one.

But there are far too many variables involved, and the industry is too secretive to make any accurate assumptions. Though I think it's fair to say a couple weeks. A single cours project (12-13 episodes) probably has at least six months of production involved, not counting all the pre-planning and budgeting etc involved before any animation is started or recording begins. That's why some stuff is announced well over a year before it airs, because it can take a while to get everything rolling.

I think that one episode takes, more or less, 1 month.

anime is done in 24 fps and most of the time it's only done in 12 or even 6 and strung together

Anime is good, fucking deal with it.

TL;DR: It takes 35 weeks (around 8 months) to make a 1 cour show. Doesn't apply to all studios or anime though.

This was really helpful, more helpful than most of answers i found online, the time seems reasonable but it seems like it takes more planning than i thought
