Holy crap did this episode ever borrow from anime and video game pop culture. I was dying of laughter when I saw that Saint Seiya skit and then Snake's patented box infiltration (LMAO! They even got the type of box right with the orange box!). But the pièce de résistance was "Aku. Soku. Zan!" ROFL! Saitou from Rurouni Kenshin's utmost principle still lives on today ^_^ (LOL, they even got his stance right for the Gatotsu)! After this I thought no more but then when Nagi was explaining everything that had happened you just know this is a play on Akira Takano's character from School Rumble LOL. This was definitely the funniest episode in the series so far. Oh yeah, on a side note that Hinagiku girl seems like an interesting character as well, I would like to see more of her in future episodes. Anyways, I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode.

yes this ep was amasing LOL... no the show is amasing =P

you missed the Star Trek reference. It's barely noticeable but it that one made me roll on the floor LOL. There was also a reference to genshiken or to the fans of making gundam figures. and there was another one that I don't know from where it is from > "this school is as big as Vana'****" any clue?

The thing I most enjoy on the show is trying to find the all the references =P

No, I haven't figured that one out yet (this'll drive me crazy until I find out want it means)! But yeah I remember the Genshiken one. Yeah, finding the references is half the fun :D.

EDIT: Nevermind I think I figured it out, I think they're referring to the world of Vana'diel in Final Fantasy XI.

Yeah I don't know that Vana one either :S

But the rest was funny; I noticed Saito, Akira, Gundam, etc

and wow, 100% "5 out of 5: Loved it!" so far for this ep, keep it up

jeez, soon there's gonna be a wiki on Hayate as big as haruhi's wiki.

i'm not sure if it was my compter or my bad subs, but a lot of the subs in my HD .mkv SS-eclipse episode overlapped a lot (using VLC player), and that ruined a lot of the fun for me >_<

anyone else have that problem?

No I'm not having any problem with SS-E's files. But then again I'm not using VLC player. That sure sounds like a weird problem though.

Very funny episode. I especially loved the Rurouni Kenshin and Metal Gear Solid references. I used to play Final Fantasy XI for over a year so I caught the Vana'diel reference right away.

I haven't had any problems playing the files. I've been watching them using Windows Media Player.

No problems also. I started to avoid using VLC 'coz I had a lot off problems with the subtitles along with crashes for no aparent reason.

ahah nice, I wouldn't have figured that out =P.

I forgot another one. right in the beggining there was a reference to pokemon done by the talking tiger =P

I put together this pic for the startrek reference xD. It's on minute 15:33. She also says "Peace" "Peace" from what I could hear lol XD

Yeah, I noticed that but it didn't click that it was from Star Trek. Funny nonetheless!

Awesome episode. They really portrayed Hinagiku and Yukiji well. Especially Hinagiku. They surpassed all my expectations. Now that Hinagiku has made an appearence, i guess it time to put her in my top ten especially since she's my fave in the manga and i'm sure it'll be the same for the anime. Looks like they are gonna introduce Sakuya and Izumi next episode. I'm looking forward to it.

Another reference not mentioned yet was the Pokemon one near the beginning. So i think that pretty much cover all the references. Though i think there was also a Utena reference but I havent watched it in a long time and it could've been just a coincedince.

I did mention the pokemon one in my above post. the other one I can't tell 'coz I haven't seen Utena :) .

I also did like Hinagiku and the other new introduced characters. Judging from the intro there's still a lot of them missing, looking foward to it too. I need to get my hands on the manga ^^

Yeah, Hinagiku was great. Very funny episode again :D.

@kei: The SS-Eclipse sub has subtitles for lines several characters speak at the same time, they're displayed at the same time but above each other so you don't mix them up. And since VLC has no ability to handle softsubs properly (MPC FTW, and I mean it), those overlapped lines are what you get. Why not use the .avi file? It's smaller in resolution, yes, but you will have more fun with that than with the HD subs viewed in VLC.

actually what's happening is I gave up on my shitty lappy and just watched it on my friend's compy. his only has VLC though, so that's what I watched it on. I'll have him download MPC or something soon.

Man, this show is hilarious. It's a nice break from the seriousness of Ghost in the Shell and Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Metal Gear Solid Snake reference made me laugh, an excellent episode!

The future looks a little bit brighter for Hayate..

so, we got to meet alot of new characters today, but the one that got the most attention was probably Hinagiku, I've known her for a while as "The most popular character in HnG"
Nice Design~

Couldn't have made this a good episode without the energy weapons and shipuu slashes

HAYATE GAINED MY OFFICIAL RESPECT WHEN HE SAVED YUKIJI WITHOUT QUESTION OR THOUGHT FOR HIMSELF

Nagi was good this episode for not making a scene about the bento being messed up, GOD She's so kidnap-able!!~

If Hayate keeps this up, He'll undoubtly be one of my favorite characters and one of the best male leads that I know of, He's just...so COOL and such a good role model!!

It looks like Tama really can talk. Nice Saint Seiya & Metal Gear Solid reference.

A new character (Katsura Hinagiku) is introduced & I really like her character design. LOL at those birds (they just like Hayate's parents)

Great Saint Seiya reference, they even changed the art style of Hayate, then Katsura does Hyoga's pose xD Cardbox sneaking with Snake was good too and they even nodded at Final Fantasy XI with Vana'diel, I'm watching the no beep version or else I wouldn't have gotten that one. Must have missed a lot of references but thanks to the comments I found the wiki :D

Holy damn, that new girl, Hinagiku, was freaking hilarious xD
She's like a mix of tsundere and a bit of an idiot. Those comedic faces she was making were priceless.

The sister is one crazy tard. She also seem to have a complicated relationship with her Hinagiku.

The MGS cameo was great, headband and beard. All he missed was a eyepatch :3

No worries Tama, I definitely see you as a Pikachu-role in Pocket Monsters but now based in Hayate no Gotoku, pffwhaha.
This episode, we get the introduction of Hinagiku and I would say best girl. Then we get those 3 musketeers girls that are breaking the 4th wall repeatedly which is way too funny.
