In terms of animation and pure visual spectacle? Nah. But in terms of narrative weight and writing? Fuck yes, this is one of my favorite episodes of all time!

The happy Gon we once knew is gone and it is truly sad. This series has really turned dark and that is something that I like but I can't avoid to feel sad aswell.

Will gon be able to survive after the sacrifice he made? I hope he will pull through somehow, think about Killuas felings man!!

I guess I'm weird and in the absolut minority, but I feel sad that Pitou died and feel it was totally contrived how gon was able to beat her. She had a lot of time to kill gon before he became a JoJo character, and that he was able to just pull power out of his ass because he felt upset instead of some clever ploy feels really cheap. Every one of the less interesting guards got like 2-3 Episodes with great fights, while Pitou just got annihilated.

Its still an amazing arc, I just feel sad that Pitou died this way.

Man, this episode had me tearing up because of the conversation between Gon and Killua. Also, the beatdown that Pitou received almost made me feel bad for it.

It was not a victory for Gon. His objective was to restore Kite, while Pitou's was to nullify any threat against the King. It's clear who is victorious here: Pitou. Gon, not only did not achieve his objectives, but he also lost himself in the process, in mind body and soul. Gon knew he lost as he launched his final attack, looking back to Killua with tears in his eyes. This wasn't a victory for Gon, and he knew it. Because the anime had shown us SO many times when battles are won through compromise and diplomacy. Gon lost his way.

What a beautiful scene!!

This episode gave me a mixed feelings.
I'm glad that Gon finally able to release all the emotions and tbh, Pitou deserves to be punished after everything she has done.

On the other hand, I was kind of curious, what if they resolved this with talk no jutsu, and Pitou became an ally of Gon & the others 🤔 Because I'm kinda curious about Pitou since she started to grow human emotions.

Spine Chilling Transformation!

It's been a long time watching this show, but even today GON vs PITOU is the first thing that comes to my mind, and then I don't fail to watch its reaction mashup on Youtube.

I was transfixed by this episode, every moment was incredible. Gon summoned all the power he'll ever have to take out Pitou, that's amazing. The emotion and the action was excellent. It's one of those episodes that will stick with me for a long while.

This episode in a way felt like the ending to The chimaera ant arc, it's not but the next episodes are more calm, emotional and mainly ends the different character's arc. It is a truly marvelous arc!

The greatest anime episode I've seen so far in my life and I'm not joking. The direction of this episode was some of the greatest I've ever seen. The music, the animation, the fucking feels during this whole episode. Gon's anger and emotions were too overpowering. Poor Killua had to see all of that. I can't imagine what these kids are going through.

Rest in Peace, Pitou. This episode had me crying and goosebumps all over my body.

My god, this episode was incredibly raw. Under Gon's ever-smiling face was hidden pure hatred, vengeance and bloodlust. I feel very sorry for Pitou because Gon's attack on them in the end became more than acting vengeance. The way he kept punching them over and over even after there was no head. That was sick, Gon lost his mind.

Pitou says Gon's power was equal to the King's once he transformed, but Pitou did not see the king after he was "reborn", so perhaps Gon was still weaker than the king.

Now here's the thing, I don't get why Gon felt THIS strongly about Kite. They did not spend that much time together. When Killua gets hurt Gon doesn't even show any worry (Greed Island arc)and Killua is his BEST FRIEND. I think Gon was full of guilt because he felt like the culprit for Kite's death, but to me it doesn't make sense that Kite would be the trigger for Gon to burn his life force this way. Honestly I wish Gon would have acted as violently to Killua sacrificing himself in previous times, but whatever.

Will they explain why Gon is able to use his power to this extent?

Even if it felt like an overreaction and a bit of an ass pull, I got chills from this episode, it was genuinely disturbing and incredible. I want to see how Gon will act from here on, there's no way he can go back to just being happy and silly all the time.

Gon's transformation felt like last minute asspull. I love Pitou as a villain. I know she has to die but, the way they did it was very disappointing. Was this even a fight ? I hope this transformation costs Gon something in upcoming episodes.

this is the worst garbage I have ever seen in anime, I thought the rose bomb was a big deus ex machina but this tops it all, pitou was so hyped yet he didn't even get to punch, this can't be a fighting anime, why was the nen explained in such detail if it's being ignored now? there is no way gon can get a power up like that in nen system

Gon is an incredibly complex and well-developed character that grows and changes significantly over the course of the series. He starts out as a naïve and innocent child, but quickly matures into a brave and determined young man.

Gon's development is largely driven by his relationships with other characters. He starts out idolizing his father, who is a legendary hunter. However, when he learns the truth about his father, he is forced to confront the dark side of humanity. This experience matures him significantly, and he becomes more cynical and jaded.

Gon also has a very strong relationship with his best friend, Killua. Killua is a skilled assassin, and Gon looks up to him for his strength and skill. However, Killua is also troubled by his past, and Gon helps him to confront his demons. This friendship is one of the most important things in Gon's life, and it helps him to grow and change in many ways.

Overall, Gon has one of the most complex and well-developed character arcs in all of anime. He goes through a tremendous amount of growth and change over the course of the series, and his relationships with other characters are a major driving force behind this development. If you're looking for an anime with great character development, Gon is definitely one of the best examples out there.

This is obviously shown in Episode 131, as Gon uses up all of the aura due to his guilt and lets it all out, in order to kill Pitou and to avenge Kite.

No explanation is given as to why gon went so far

He and kite have hardly spent any time together

The audience doesn't even have time to get to know and care about kite

It's either bad writing or rushed writing

This episode standing alone is amazing, but in context is awful
