Summarized: I was disappointed with this season because the action and dialogue seemed especially poor and off target. I speculate that this is because the season is shorter and the creators felt rushed. This is just my opinion but it's based off what I've seen, my argument is much more fleshed out below.

Has anyone else found this season to be seriously disappointing? I mean that it deviates, at least how I see it, in two major ways that made the original series great. I haven't read the manga so I don't know if this is the case in the source material, but in this tournament, less and less plausible shots are being hit, ridiculously so. Sure boomerang snakes and disappearing serves may seem a bit far fetched, but if you look at the paths of the balls these new shots are just absurd, and the thing is that they don't even bother attempting to give an excuse for them. And not only the shots, but their power is now being changed by these auras that we've never heard of before but that now apparently EVERYONE uses. Not only is it different than the original, but these abilities make the experience less fun because it's no longer about sports but some magic trick competition. Anyways, the second point is that the quality of the dialogue seems to have dropped significantly, which is a problem evident in several different places. The first place it's noticeable is on the side dialogues, because as mentioned earlier the shots are getting crazier and wilder but the matches are also being given fewer episodes so they have to cram more into a smaller time slot, this becomes a problem when these crazy moves happen and we have no explanation as to what the problem is, so that we are unable to look forward to a solution because the problem isn't specific. If the shot is just hard to get to, there isn't a single way to respond, there are so many things you could to do to fix the problem, so when this happens we don't think the opponent is strong we think the protagonist is weak. One other problem with the dialogue is that they use more useless repetition in this season meaning that not only is there less time for each match but more time is wasted. The final problem with the dialogue is that it changed the characters personalities unnaturally, the Ryoma we saw grow over the last 178 episodes is now just some cartoon character with a stereotypical attitude, even the supporting characters have started saying "Oh, that's so Echizen" much more often, but it's not the same Echizen, the characters are being forced to say that to the viewer but it is not at all what the viewer is being shown. In conclusion, there are many problems with the action and dialogue of this season and they seem like the natural results of trying to force too many ideas and concepts into to little time and not effectively using that time. This sequel leaves the viewer confused and wondering why they watched 178 previous episodes, no matter how great they were, only for it to end up like this.

I agree for the most part. I especially disliked the last Akaya match. That shit wasn't even Tennis yet everyone treated it like it was.

I gave it 7.
7 episodes before I dropped it.
Stop the sequels high-ranking stupidity.
Group franchises in Top Anime page.
Because Gintama is just "one" anime and not 5.
