Well, this was kinda re-telling.
Kinda like the flash animated IMO.

So, basically, this is Keroro Gunsou without the witty humor and gags that redeemed the original series. Wonderful. The episode ended before the punchline started.

It felt to me like a reboot rather than a sequel if anything.

It doesn't seem that you need to watch the first series before this. Even though I've never seen the first series I can kinda tell this is a reboot. However this is only the first episode so it might just be a quick recap. Either way I'll continue watching it.
My signature is lame...

Felt like a kiddified version of the show... The animation was pretty much horrible as well. And Fuyuki now has an iphone!? Ugh... Let's see how this keeps up!

10 year anniversary? Since the first show aired exactly 10 years ago.

The complains outside of visuals are kinda silly. Was the first scene of the original show full with references and parodies? Iit's exactly the same as the first show, except poorly animated. And of course the length might kill it, because it's not really a gag manga. Maybe 6min could do a thing, but 3min really are too short.

I've seen 14 episodes now, and there's not been even one refference to any other Anime. The parody genre is gone. Pretty understandable due to the extremely short running time (2 minutes, excluding the OP and ED)

I think the animation is fine -- compared to the original series. Flash doesn't hold up to today's level of technology, but the character designs of Keroro Gunsuo don't exactly need them. The flash animation of the humans doing normal things like walking are the weakest. Mois fans should be happy to hear her character design has been improved (I think!).

IMO, The best eps in K are the over-the-top comedy ones, such as eps 7 and 8. I find it odd that we start with eps that basically copy the first ep of the series, then suddenly inject the several main and secondary characters, like the middle of the series. It felt like K was designed by committee. Then, in ep 9, we're introduced to MORE characters, none I'm familiar with, although I "only" saw 150+ episodes of KG.

Overall, not a bad series for KG fans, if the alternative is no KG at all.

EDIT: They do have pop culture references! Except... you have to wait until ep 20 for the first one, and ep 21 for the first *good* one...

Nah, there are pop culture references much earlier than that, it's just that they're often obscure ones. Viper like aways is based on Cobra (Space Cobra manga), but his new outfit colors are based on Cobra's first appearance. In the same episode the Keroro platoon does a dance inspired by the Super Sentai Toqger, the newest one back when the series aired (the scene in the manga was originally a Goranger homage, the 1st Super Sentai). Powered Momoka in episode 8, which is using the original design from the manga, unlike in the first anime, is actually a Saturn (as in the Sega console) girl.

The stickers episode actually had some pretty easy to get ones too, with obvious Sailor Moon/ChibiMoon and Dragonball inspired stickers, although the Dragonball one also was mixed with Ogon Bat, a really old and now obscure Japanese super hero.

Anyway, yeah, this show's structure is kind of odd. The first episodes make it seem like it'd be a remake, but it soon jumps ahead until after the point where original anime covered the manga, and adapts new stories with some late manga characters. The choice of stories is odd even after that though, like how they include Kaneami but never adapt anything actually related to her, so she's just there without doing anything throughout the show.
