| With his death we have lost one of the greatest animators in the industry, the world of animation will not be the same without him. Though I did not know him personally, I am sadden by his passing. I take great joy in knowing that his influence has shaped the industry, the fruits of his works will live on and that he is missed by soo many. RIP, You've earned it... |

| I won't be there. O.O This news topic is very "pink magazine" like. My deepest respects for this gentleman, who had such a great influence in the world of anime, but it's just irrelevant who is going to attend to his funeral. It's a funeral, after all. Not a party. |

| So, who is he? I can't even find him in the MAL database. I was able to find his profile on ANN, but I have barely seen anything of his works (I don't like oneshot movies). Also, shouldn't he be on that list too? Or won't he be on his own funeral? |
| Man, it's like a who's who list of anime/game industry people. He really must have been an influential person to a lot of the people in the industry (although I think out of all his works I've seen only a few). RIP, you've earned your rest. |

Anime directors and artists in their 40-50's were all influenced by his unique animation style. Kobayashi, Osamu said: I liked Kanada-san so much that I made "Kanada Yoshinori Fan Club" when I was a high school boy. Okano Hidehiko (the animator of AKIRA) said: Kanada-san was a man above the clouds. Umetsu, Yasuomi said: Kanada-san's style was an epoch making. In Genma Taisen, I tried hard to catch up with him, but I couldn't. Akahori Shigeo (the animation director of Porfy no Nagai Tabi) said: When I was a student, I was deeply into Kanada-san's art style. His animation taught me the true fun of dynamic arts. English databases are helpless regarding animators. The name "Kanada" and "Kanada Perspective" are well known even to Japanese who don't know much about anime staff. I hope non-Japanese anime fans pay more attention to animators as well as voice actors and main directors. |
