Oh wow. I didn't know you were a Gundamn! listener, but hey, I should have guessed with Gaia Gear in your list XDD
Hope you enjoyed our show =DDD
And just to have some constructive criticism, how do you find our podcast??
As you may have noticed, I'm french (and it really shows with this ridiculous stiff accent XDD) so sometimes my english can be a little bit off, because I'm still learning.

Your own show!? That's freaking cool!!
I just have some little advices: be sure to have good hosts with you, have your topics prepared, be sure to have some little editing skills in your team and always look out for improvements =DD

BTW: Send me the link to your show once you guys actually started it. I'll be happy to check it out. Oh and one last thing:
When you are gonne listen to your first episode and if you find it horrible, don't give up. Your first episode is always the worst one, because it's your starter. You'll improve after only 3 episodes if you keep up the good work. Hope you guys will bring an awesome podcast to the Internet =DD
Looking forward to it.
XD

That's good to hear. Lighthearted Tomino is my favorite kind of Tomino (Brain Powerd, Turn A Gundam, so i'll be checking out this series pretty soon for sure. Also you had me at '80s Glam Rock hairstyles', which you know is one of my weaknesses. :3

Bubblegum Crisis is so so awesome, i mean if anyone asked me for an opinion on the 80s culture and music, then i'd just tell them to watch the opening scene of the first episode, Kon'ya wa Hurricane~. I can't believe it's taken me so long to watch what could easily be a show with the best score ever. Plus the insert song placement rivals the Macross franchise!

LOGH is epic, and that's all that needs to be said. Doing an episode a day watch, which is turning out to be loads of fun.

What's your thought on both of these shows? :)

How's Heavy Metal L-Gaim?

Watching is a pretty strong word for what I'm doing with Togainu no Chi--I skipped two episodes and have it playing on my second monitor while doing MAL stuff. I played the game, so I'm just skipping to the stuff that amuses me--the 2 seconds Midorikawa Hikaru speaks and I wanted to watch a certain character go batshit insane because it's hilarious (and I wanted to see how far they'd take it). Even then, something like that appeals to my tastes more than an unappealing art style with mecha.. although art style isn't everything, as in the end I didn't *enjoy* watching Mononoke. I liked looking at it and watching Kusuriuri, but the stories... just not delivered the way I like it.

I need to read more of Hakushaku to Yobareta Otoko (Takaguchi Satosumi!), but it's very wordy and my attention tends to wander/eyes get tired with that. I'll probably end up buying Saradinaasa when I see some decent copies of it.

Some authors/works I've eyed a bit, no clue if good or not--

http://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=758
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1488 (not sure if I read this back during the ShoujoMagic days!)

I dunno, there's a ton more, but with the strong yen, I don't see myself buying many of these even compared to a year ago. The exchange rate+proxy bidding fees I'd have to use to get the titles makes it too expensive.

I've heard a lot about Basara, but it's more of a question as to when I have time to tackle something of that length. Sounds like a summer project to me.

I don't read light novels in general, but I'm sure they are better than the manga form of Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru. I felt like I crashed a party mid-way when I read that one.

Oh, that is fantastic--good to hear you're going to read more Silver Diamond :D I absolutely love it and her work. It's definitely worth owning! I can't decide if I'm excited or heartbroken that the story will be ending soonish.

Ah, not sure about Star Driver.. it looks so over the top, but not in a good way ^_^;;

Well, being done well is subjective.. I mean, there was an episode where he literally SAT DOWN a character to explain to her what happened. I just find that highly awkward :( I prefer things more blended and natural. Hence, a general incompatibility.. but at least Midorikawa Hikaru was there to distract me.

80/90s shoujo is good stuff! I've been looking into looking more lately, although it almost always ends up being raw and out of print, meaning I have to pay more to get it :-p I just want a HUGE stack of the Hana to Yume comics from that era.. they were paricularly top-notch. Shimizu Reiko is fabulous.. even Hagio Moto likes her! As I'm still working thru her backlog, I haven't read much of Himitsu yet. I feel you though.. I got bored of Kimi ni Todoke myself, right about when the anime came out and everyone got excited lol.

Hey, how's it going? Been busy here. I've tried watching some anime lately as it can be an amusing distraction that I still find easy to pull away from :3 I really like Kuragehime.. entertaining characters and I'm curious as to where it's going. I should pick up some manga volumes. Panty & Stocking was starting to lose interest with me, but ep 6 was good at least. I'm most torn about Mononoke--I absolutely love Kusuriuri and the style, but in general... I hate exposition. And the show is basically about a character gathering exposition before he can take care of the problem. There is a fundamental incompatibility there! I'll probably finish it out, just to watch Kusuriuri.

80/90s shoujo hmm. I do love that stuff, although Banana Fish is hard to follow (and I see you've tried some Yasha too). From that time period, Shimizu Reiko is my favorite--I don't see her titles on your list. I absolutely love Jack and Elena. Jack first appears in 22xx. Follow the manga relations from there. Ryuu no Nemuru Hoshi was fantastic.. but these can be a bit harder to find perhaps. Her short story collections like Noa no Uchuusen, Magic, Mou Hitotsu no Shinwa, Yume no Tsuzuki, etc are all good. She's the master of shoujo sci-fi to me.

Other than her, hrmm... I wish list tags weren't broken! I started reading Cipher a while back.. seemed pretty decent. Miriam was kinda cute (shoujo with cowboys, haha). I just bought Yakumo Tatsu 1-19 too.. I'll see how that is eventually. :3

Thank you, It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I look forword to conversing with you.
Shiroth May 8, 2010 10:51 AM
The anime was a fun ride just because of how damn silly it is, along with the overall homage to the super robot genre. But yeah i've been told how superior the source material is, so i shall start reading it very soon.
Shiroth May 6, 2010 10:41 AM
Seeing Linebarrel on your favorites really makes me wanna read the manga.

This animu season actually looks good? What shows are actually worth watching, apart from Durarara? And obviously Nodame~

I'm not watching any TV shows atm (apart from House), I'm more into books, manga, and anime, though I really should be more interested in studying atm. XD
My sis has been forcing me to watch Merlin, but I told her I have no time for it now. >_> So I have only seen like 9 or 10 eps so far. It's ok, but waaaay too predictable. At least Uther has a very nice voice (I know the actor is in Buffy too, but haven't seen it, just one or two random eps o TV).
Monochrome Jan 6, 2010 11:35 PM
Well other than Spike~ I really like Faith, Willow, and Buffy. Drusilla is very amusing with how strange she acts lol and also Cordelia, but more so in Angel. She's a little more...independent/less annoying. For me Buffy is all about the girls, Angel has more interesting guys :P

Btw I forgot to ask what season are you at for Buffy?
Monochrome Jan 4, 2010 1:04 PM
The years been good so far :D
Yeah I think I'm done with DtB. The 2nd season had it's enjoyable moments, but just killed the series for me.

I love Detective Conan so far~ I already watch the first 50-ish when it aired on adultswim a while ago and decided to pick it up again to finally see Kaito (love his attitude :P) and Heiji. The length stopped me for a while as well, but then I was reminded how much fun it is (plus I discovered that not all the eps from 200-500 are subbed). Though most of the anime-only episodes are crap or just boring so I started skipping them lol. It's not like they're important anyway.

And thanks for telling my about Giant Killings! I don't really like the art, but it looks interesting so I'll definitely check it out :3
