Torrents are always faster then DDL for me, the ddls go at like...a couple kp/s the torrents go up to about 2 mb/s. I'm just wondering if I'll get a $3000 lawsuit in my mailbox if I do it, not for licensed series but just the on-going ones. Ya know now days with the end of the internet approaching...it's hard to do anything nice.

In all honesty I don't know. I have been downloading anime torrents for years and knock on wood I have yet to receive a cease and desist letter, fine or threatening lawsuit for any anime. When ever you download torrents you should always use peerblock or some other similar program. The only time I have ever got a cease and desist letter from my cable company is when I downloaded a south park episode and that is due to the fact I failed to turn my peer block on when I downloaded that episode.

I've gotten so many viruses from those bitch-ass sites. If you misclick one thing on those sites, your pretty much screwed. Just use Netflix or Crunchyroll

Only if you're an idiot. Nine years of torrenting, 0 viruses, 0 malware.

You're more likely to find them elsewhere.

Torrenting is quite safe, and actually better than ddl's for me personally.

But don't double bag it!

Seriously, could please stop making stupid torrent related threads? If you torrent then torrent, if you don't know how use google, if you have to ask then its probably illegal. Can we have mods locked these threads from now on?

I have personally been torrenting anime since 2004 and I have never had a problem... Though I am pretty picky of what sites I get my anime from.
Not Found (aka 404)

You're looking for something that does not, has not, will not, or must not exist ...

... but you're always welcome to search for it.

Geez, you mad bro?

I was wondering as much as the OP, and I'm sure this thread has answered dozens of other's questions as well(whether they've posted here or have just looked over it.)

Sometimes, a company holding a copyright may put fake peers onto a torrent and send a threat letter to your ISP to forward to you. I heard that many ISPs won't even forward threat letters to you. (They don't care how you use your internet, as long as they are getting paid to provide it).

(My ISP has sent letters to complain about the amount of data that I download, but never complained about what I download and how I get it.)

I use Forced encryption in uTorrent to prevent my anyone from spying on my traffic, and that's it. I have never received any complaints or legal threats.

If you're going to panic, you can use a program like PeerBlock to check peer IP's against a database of IPs known to belong to these companies and block them.

I think these companies would rather shut of the source of the torrents (original pirate) and/or sites tracking them than go after individual users. (that way they actually halt distribution rather than just scaring random downloaders).

That being said, No-one gives a shit about unlicensed anime, since no-one holds exclusive rights over the content to sue you for obtaining it elsewhere.
That's why fansubs and sites like BabaBT have not been shut down by the police. (as opposed to thepiratebay that seems to have everyone on their case.)

One more thing: When IPv6 becomes the standard for the internet, Every PC in the world will have it's own unique IP address on the internet without any NAT devices. Companies may no longer have to contact your ISP and could possibly track you directly to your own PC. (not just to the connection, but the device itself.)

The only real concern you should have is getting viruses because some torrents contain viruses.

Yes, be very careful; my Naruto download once caught a virus that turned it into shitty filler.

Bloody enormous lol.

Most anime I watched, mostly torrent them. Now that most download sites are gone, I had no choice but to look for a batch for a certain series. Had to wait several hours for it to finish but it's worth waiting.
I never had any trouble for torrenting anime before.

You always seed, if you want or not.

By law torrent is not safe but the chance you'll get sued for torrenting stuff is around 0.000000001%.

Seeding barely even works for me. My upload speed maxes out at something like 10 kb/s.

It is dependent on the actual site you use to download the torrents from.

DDLs are much more faster to me. I only torrent when I can't find them in DDLs. I seed but I noticed it is always 0.1 kb per second. I didn't customize anything though except I have PeerBlock now

i never hard of anyone getting busted for using a torrent from the feds it would not be worth their time to track down the millions of people downloading when they have real criminals they can barely handle.

but if u r a little worried, like on my university internet i do this cause they will fine you. just DONT SEED thats how they would catch you

o, and i also think those that said no might have just thought you were talking about getting a virus or spam or something like that without reading your post, now i would say a virus is a real risk you take, just make you have atleast a decent virus scanner

I'm pretty sure it's safe outside USA and Japan. At least, I've not yet heard of someone getting caught because of anime in my country.

As for seeding, I seed only bakabt related stuff.

They are, don't worry. It's just that they're prioritizing their targets. You probably are on their lists, as everyone who has ever downloaded a thing illegally is. They're just waiting for you to do some serious shit in order to take you from your country and put you in prison.

Nyaa is probably hosted in Europe and Bakabt in China => SAFE

All that means is that they don't have the jurisdiction to take the site down. That doesn't mean they can't charge the uploaders with copyright infringement.

Indeed, but if they're charged, new ones will appear. Unless they take the websites down, they can't do much damage and I think they know that as well. That's why I think that even for a couple more years, bakabt and nyaa will remain safe.

Of course it is! At least here in the Netherlands. I have never heard of anyone getting fines here because of downloading torrents. I'm not sure about other countries.
Why don't you just move to our beautiful little country? We have weed, we are neighbours of Germany and we have Geert Wilders! :D

Geerd wilders is not something to brag about. But yeah the Netherlands does almost nothing against any pirating. You could be pirating something with the police watching you and nothing would ever happen

You're torrenting Anime, not nuclear launch codes. Just playing the odds but its probably unlicensed Anime and you don't plan on redistributing so unless you live in Japan ain't no one gonna come for you.

Go crazy, get yo hentai on.
