So it's not going to be a Shirobako ripoff, but just an isekai?

Honestly, I was expecting more than just another isekai anime, I really hoped that this anime would be about drawing and animating, the processes in it and about the anime industry, but i guess it's not, I hope I'm wrong. The animation is fire though.

Animation's beautiful, the story is something that has been done before so not as original as first seen. Sound's alright and characters are unusual, kind of look like plushies from Walmart but okay. Overall, a decent start.

Hopefully, the romance is limited and the MC actually learns something from being in this other world so she can take it back to her world and fix her storyboard and make her movie. Show us the power of anime or something idk...

If it's a full blown isekai throughout then this may be dropped but 4/5 so far.

Another original anime from MAPPA except this time they are doing their own take on isekai fantasy. A famous animator gets isekaied into an animated fantasy movie after eating an expired bento. While being in the new word she discovered that she can change the outcome of the story by drawing whatever she wants after saving the heroes from a void attack. The animation was well done in big moments. Hopefully it will be better than their last original anime in BUCCHIGIRI?!

just like buchigiri I am witnessing another lukewarm starter to a mappa original

the animation may be there but the writing, characters and whatnot is annoying

this studio is truly a phenomenon

This is a very interesting concept for an anime. I'm not really certain if I'm going to enjoy this one but I can say for certain the art looks good, and it's quality. I just don't know if its going to manage to keep my attention with the plot.

This Unicorn can die for all I care
The hero is meh
the robot is probably going to be annoying IMO

Some questions that this episode brings up for me; are the things she write going to the real world, and how are the things that she changes going to domino effect and change the rest of the current world she is in? Will it end up better or worse and will it get published in the real world?

That Nausicaa sequence is awesome, whatever form it takes.

What if every episode has Natsuko draw another reference to an anime legend to save the day..? That gimmick could be enough to carry the show for me.

I’m kinda tired of isekai now, and an isekai with a female mc is even less entertaining imo. Maybe if it were more realistic of a setting with a real rom com plot line I would continue, but I think this will be a pass from me.

The synopsis had me totally fooled into thinking this was a slice of life/romance. A story called "A Tale of Perishing" being so grim checks out. But since Natsuko really loves the story, it might be a great opportunity for some artistic inspiration.

I think the isekai element here is pretty tame so far. I'm kinda interested now, since we saw some anime studio scenes in the PV that don't show up in the first episode.

Natsuko in the alley, the guy begging a higher up to do something about her, about being past the deadline.

..Which means that she's probably gonna go back to reality at some point, most likely by the 3rd episode.

I think episode 3 because Natsuko has scenes in the real world, and most anime PVs only show scenes up to episode 3.

Sooo....is this an isekai story or is she just dreaming the whole thing for a couple of eps, then wakes up and gets inspiiration to star writing her script?

Not really sure what to feel about that yet.

Wow. That really wasn't what I was expecting based on what I read in the synopsis. I really don't know what to think. It might be my own fault but based on the trailer, this was probably the seasonal I was most looking forward to and yet, it's completely different from what it passed itself off as.

Having said that, the first episode still intrigued me somewhat, and that animation in the scene against the void army (or whatever they are) was gorgeous.

I'm confused, let down, but....I'm still here, and I'm still interested. See you next week, Zenshuu.

@Suginami85 i doubt it's actually another isekai, i bet she wakes up the next episode in the hospital/switches realities while sleeping, slowly falls in love with the knight, & finally finishes the project.

While Isekai is not exactly a genre that I enjoy....at all, it's interesting that the girl still retains everything from her reality and the others pretty much find her very strange. Can't say much more since it's more of an introduction and the description is very misleading but coming in blind it is still very entertaining with the characters have some personality and so far it feels lighthearted.

Gave it a 10/10. Just as expected, people coming out of the woodwork and jumping to conclusions about where this show is going. I don't even think it's a real Isekai, nor do I think she's actually dead. I might be wrong but I feel some big twists coming.

PEAKKKK

This girl is literally Maomao the second with her action and reactions lol. love her

Also I was watching this anime in Dub and I can confidently say it's also PEAKKK. I was comparing it with its Sub counterpart and some lines were definitely delivered more cleverly and funnily. 10/10 episode. Looking forward to the next one!

It's a bit bright but the animation is gorgeous. From the synopsis, I didn't really expect this to be an isekai, or at least this seems to be an extended dream.

The synopsis says she does not know the feeling of being in love.

I reckon that in this dream, she will fall in love so by the time she wakes up, she can draw her masterpiece.

Looks like a fun anime with high production value. Chill out about the score, Edgerunners released with all of their episodes out to a score hovering around 7-s for a week because the haters of the game were the first ones to rate it. Here you have a bunch of self-proclaimed moralists thinking they are making a social statement about the irony of MAPPA doing an anime about makings of anime... despite it not even being that and being an isekai instead. It has to make them mad that they were double wrong.

The animation looked crazy good! The transformation scene blew me away!

That said, I hope the story will take a hard left turn, because otherwise it'll be a generic Isekai with a MC with unlimited OP powers.

In the trailer, there were other scenes from reality, so I guess, she'll be able to jump back and forth between worlds?! But this would lead to truly episodic crap, that doesn't matter...

Let's see where this is heading. I'm definitely intrigued!

I was going to skip this based on the description, but some people were gushing about it so I gave it a look. More interesting than expected.

No idea why the description was so useless though. Maybe they were trying to pull an Oshi No Ko and lie about it for the shock value? It was a dumb idea then and it's a dumb idea now. It's just going to attract the wrong audiences who'll then be pissed off that you lied to them.

It's hard to tell from the first episode. You can see that the artwork is great. The sound is okay too. But the plot... It's an isekai. And again in a world that mc-chan knows. And right from the start, mc-chan has a superpower capable of causing a local Armageddon. As usual, no training, no practice, no tries. It's all instinct. Mc-chan is, as always, a genius.
Maybe in the future the plot will compensate for this or it will be something like "Jujutsu Kaisen". Lots of action and little thought.

The plot is good, but they started to blow it with her hyper focusing on the "anime food", instead of realizing the benefit she can make being knowing the future in the anime.

Then they continued to blow it by having her say "I can't do anything to change what is supped to happen".

But they gut their butts in gear and did a overly drawn anime graphic to have her change the story with her power of being an animator in an anime.

Good question "Would I be Isekai-ed, if it is an anime or would have a different name?"
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

MC seems like the other MC to some degree...

Kinda dislike the anime-ception MC; only pays attention to the horse, doesn't care about others. Hopefully the guy himself doesn't call himself hero lol.

I had wanted to watch this episode because I really loved what Mitsue Yamazaki had done for both Sleepy Princess in the Demon castle, as well as her many episodes of Attack on Titan season 4. She was a really good director and I wanted to see what she was going to do.

For me, the first episode felt like I could have seen it coming based on what the third trailer showed, she goes into the world of what inspired her as a child, and she wishes to create a happier ending to a series, and experience the love that she never did as a shut in Neet.

Also, the director here, Hirose Natsuko, is literally Yuichiro Hayashi, which makes it even funnier that in the first 10 minutes, female Yuichiro Hayashi dies with Food Poisoning.

The direction for the episode, though... it kind of reminded me of Oblivion Battery, where despite the director involvement, I didn't feel a strong director vision in this episode, which made it come across as okay/decent, rather than good/great, which I expected from Yamazaki. But Oblivion Battery also had it's strongest episodes in the later parts, so I'll have to see.
