I loved how Char was introduced in the red Zaku as being a total badass, but almost instantly he got his ass smacked down by the Gundam!

Better than the first episode. Amuro really has a huge responsibility to pilot the Gundam and that tense moment with Brightwas quite well accomplished. And finally, Artesia/Sayla is reunited with her brother in person after many years. The kids driving the ship makes sense since most are injured. 4/5
BANZAI NIPPON. Nippon is the Land of freedom. Nippon is the Land of Peace. Nippon is the Land of Justice and Prosperity.

In Nippon, we trust.

We love Nippon, we love Anime. Anime love us, Nippon love us. 日本

I believe in freedom of expression.

The trained military men die, and the White Base falls under the command of kids and those like Ryu with little training. I liked how the different characters were introduced. Char's dodging serious gunfire was kind of weird (though also the shooters are basically untrained). This was a great second episode though.

Clearly the federation is the underdog in this fight right from the beginning. I can see the appeal of this series and I can see how future gundam series were inspired. Though maybe starting here would have been a better introduction into gundam instead of gundam wing

It's said that every 1000 years one napalm becomes a super napalm.

Some good stuff going on in this episode. Char being a reckless dude who just charges into the enemy base on his own while dodging everyone's shots, him kicking the gun out of the hand of a person who looked like she was standing 5 meters away... Ship repearing glue bubbles... Pretty entertaining. It's nice to see that the villain is pretty likable and skilled on his own right. Or rather he seems like the only skilled one so far.

Classic genius technician vs genius commander(Char is also kinda hot, please don't be another Gary Stu and show actual flaws).

It's not even that slow compared to likes of Naruto/One Piece and Ashita no Joe, you people are even more spoiled than elitist like me and that says something.

Cool 2nd episode. I like the female leads Sayla Mass, Miari Yashima and Fraw Bow. Strong women that can stand up for themselves.

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

they really got the super upgrade on gundams, way better offense and defense. Char realizes they're super outclassed here.

Yeah, go Sayla! People jn the Origin sub said it was weird seeing her be badass there but it fits perfectly with how shes depicted here imo. Also, didnt expect her meeting Char face to face, their relationship as siblings being revealed and her being called by her real name Artesia to be happening in episode 2.

Seeing Char play Red Faction was fun and after seeing him in Origin it was nice and a bit cathartic to see him be humbled here.

Seeing Mirai again was great, and Dozle's dub va is incredibly amusing as Origin went for a very different take on his voice. Almost polar opposites really.

Man I really love how Amuro's story/character starts off here. That moment where he's confronted after stepping out of the mobile suit was brilliant, you can see how surprised and conflicted he is to suddenly get orders barked at him after his regular life was just ripped away from him in ep 1. And despite that he also totally understands the position he's in and has to accept it.

I'm glad I saw Origin first, it gives a lot more context and stakes to Char's sister confronting him.

Great episode. This series is so grounded and weighty. The first two episodes hold the event-like atmosphere and quality of a masterpiece science fiction epic. So far meeting and exceeding my expectations.

It's so interesting to see how each robot/war anime deals with the whole "kid must pilot the robot and save the world" thing. I guess normally you have a mini arc of 1 or more episodes where the protagonist ends up taking the role of hero and savior (aka child soldier), like in Gurren Lagann, but sometimes you get more depth in the writing regarding this whole thing (NGE basically). I don't know how Gundam deals with this, but just seeing that Amuro reacted negatively to being forced to pilot the robot makes me hopeful that they're not gonna idolize this trope

This show is delivering. Amuro is facing the realities of war and we get to know the personel of White Base. The music in this is great. Char is a wonderful antagonist. Again tone and writing are just superb in this.
