The problem with GTA IV is that there's nothing to buy, so that makes earning money pointless. At least in SA/VC you could buy property, and it looks like you'll be able to in GTA V too. I agree that the gameplay is better though, especially the driving. |

| I liked Max Payne 3's combat. I'd also put in the carrying system, but I guess that isn't what most people want in GTA. |

What I want from a GTA is to shoot something, explode something and destroy everything and myself in hilarious ways, the emotional engaging story from GTA IV wasn't all that interesting and Nico had the charisma of a potato. That's why Vice City was much better, Tommy Vercetti was a raging psychopath and the game reveled in that fact. |

The only good thing about them is multiplayer. Only Vice city was somehow original. The rest of them are just hollywood cheesiness and south park level comedy to its fullest. I own GTA IV on Steam and I have never finished it. It was a mistake to upgrade my PC for that bullshit. |

The whole point of GTA was to be a self-referential crazy parody of "gang movies" that were so common in the 90's. The first three games are INCREDIBLY self-aware and the gang stuff is just a backdrop for all the craziness, like killing elvis lookalikes or stealing a tank. Its not supposed to be "realistic" nor "emotional". You are not even supposed to like most of characters for their actions. THat's what was attractive about this franchise. No one plays GTA to be all srs. No one plays it to play gold minigames or play stock market. No one plays it for "realistic driving" that GTA4 tried to push. That's why a week after GTA4 came out I found myself just uninstalling it and buying Saints Row 2 instead. At least that franchise knows what made GTA fun and great. |

| Well, only a couple more days till release. I said it once and I'll say it again, I hope V remembers that GTA is all about fun and over-the-top situations. I'd take creative and memorable missions over a serious story any day. |
| just saying, having now beaten this game a few minutes ago, this is easily my favorite in the series, it had the best writing both in how the plot went, how the characters were fleshed out, and just how clever it was both comedically and seriously, it went down paths i never expected gta games to go down. And gameplay wise it was just so ridiculously fun to play, hell im still planning to play a hell of alot more of it just to explore the massive world, its so huge i feel like even though about 90% of the map is filled out that theres still so many small details in it that it'll take me numerous hours to explore. also all 3 endings were great, even if 2 of the 3 were quite.....messy to say the least. Not in execution i mean literally messy |
