| For some inexplicable reason, I really like Ringo. Maybe it's because she looks and sounds like a typical loli, but her personality avoids the stereotype. She's cute and uses it to her advantage at times, but she's clever and mature (though not without flaws). So, yeah, I really liked this episode. Was it cliche? Yes. Yes it was. From who and when did you learn CPR? o_O; First, the compression:breath ratio is 30:2 (IRL, anyway; in the anime, yes, they did skip a lot of compressions but watching all that would be boring). This can be found in the American Heart Association's website and/or any CPR guideline. Second, yes, the force you need to use when compressing is enough to break ribs. The point of compressions is to create enough pressure in the chest to simulate blood flow temporarily. This ends up requiring about 100-125 lbs. of force. Of course, you're not trying to break ribs, but it happens and ultimately, creating blood flow is more important than cracked ribs. If they have cracked ribs because CPR is being done properly, they have a higher survival rate than if CPR was done improperly. Third, CPR guidelines have been updated for laypeople. Chest compressions are to be done at the nipple line, NOT the xyphoid process. Go re-watch that part of the episode - Ringo's got it around the right area. |
