What I am really liking about this episode, and it is sort of emblematic of the series so far, is how far Ruri seems to have matured. I begin to wonder how Ruri from episode 1 would see herself now, or vice versa. We see the evolution in kit of course, but honestly when she gets excited now, it's out of fascination. I get that Ruri sometimes slides back into that immature slide, but from my impressions, her character arc is that discovering minerology has helped her mature much faster than before.

No better example than when she realizes the mistake in her research and fesses up right away after checking her own work. The typical trope in a lesser show would have had her go into denial or hide the truth, but it was really nice to see her come forward about it.

Really hope Ruri gets a second-author slot on whatever paper writes on this discovery.

I would be amazed if they even made her write a portion of it...and only because I am waiting for this series to depict the tedium of writing up research papers.

Ruri has evolved a lot in terms of knowledge: she is now able to come up with really good ideas. She has found her vocation. All her efforts were rewarded. Although she made a mistake in her notes, she was able to detect and correct it on her own.

It was a beautiful episode.

There's a lot of philosophy of science here.

It tackles myths versus naturalistic explanations without necessarily condemning the myths.

It's a great episode when you think about it.
