So did the slim down imply he took her own flesh where she had a little extra and used that for the missing parts or use the troll? I assume used her own body parts otherwise why would she be slimmer if she just had troll parts added? Maybe the teeth and bones, but also why would her hair change I doubt he had to do anything to her hair. Oh well I am sure we'll find out. Though this again proves he could have easily fixed Alicia's eye. Don't get why Alicia is so attached to the sword, she already had a magic sword and it didn't really do her any good. And did she really need to Darth Maul the fat guy? Didn't that really risk accidentally hitting the baby? Maybe just his head or a stab in the back would have sufficed? Overall great stuff, though I guess poor Alicia is going to go through unimaginable suffering every episode.

@Bio That doesn't matter as long as it makes sense within the story of why she is. Clevatess healed her using bandit parts and maybe the troll judging by the small white hair she has. The healing process mended all past trauma, including physical injuries, disfigurements, scars, etc... It makes sense within the story you just don't like it, making it a you problem not a story problem.

Lol… so what exactly made her lose weight? Why does she have no waist anymore? If Clevatess used body parts from a fridge shaped overweight bandit and a literal troll, why is she now an hourglass figure? This does not make sense for the story and is extremely corny. I’m sad cause I was really enjoying this.
@ArthurBedlam

I don't know what the real reason is, but I just assumed he took her "excess" flesh and used it to make the missing parts (why would he use pieces of a dead troll and guy? and if he did she should still be her same old size). So how much does an arm and leg weigh? And people saying she is "hot" uhh yeah no, she is no longer ugly but not getting hot at all. She is a young girl, so unless young equals hot I am just not seeing it.

@Bio Eh? She does look a bit better now, but she's still pear-shaped and scar-ridden. "Hot", she's not. I do like being able to understand her better though. So, huzzah!

Amazing episode. I likes the part when the bandit guy was like "haha they can't see me with my epic invisibility powder" and then Alicia just killed him because he was carrying a baby screaming at the top of it's lungs like what did you expect gang.

I see some people complaining about how they made Nell (or Nelluru, now) "hot" right when they added her to the main cast but like...she basically has the same body, just without the bruise marks. Also, do you WANT to have a character you can barely understand in the main cast? This just feels like a pointless nitpick to me.

Anyways, 5/5, can't wait for next week !!

I dont really get the hype, so far it just feels like a Mashup of older shows and tropes. Don't get me wrong its been pretty rad, but its nothing groundbreaking or all that amazing. Kinda funny seeing people complain about Nell's change, you saw what she ends up looking like already before the show even got to that point. Wouldn't call either of those chicks "hot" either they're both gored out looking haggard. So far this is a solid 6, nothing that hasn't been done and feels like it's "darker" just for the sake of it. Not a drop at all or any real complaints either.

Good episode. Willfully enduring the pain from constantly drowning is hardcore (Clen didn't tell her "how" to destroy the bandits, so going after the sword was her own solution to that).

My only real gripe with Nell's new look is the short hair. I liked the big wild poofy mane, but I'm guessing the change was made from a practical perspective.

How could he have never heard or noticed that Luna was crying out loud the entire time, and Alicia could locate him for this reason? Or did he think that his spell was also soundproofing?

Wow, it's impressive how some people can take a story about a physically abused girl who gets healed and given an attractive body as a reward for her kind heart and treat it as a bad thing.
@Dracom in-universe, not a bad thing. Out of universe, why did the author decide she needs to be hot in order to join the party? Why didn't Alicia get her eye back if Clevatess can heal someone to a better state than they had before?

There's no problem with healing someone who's hurt, but you do open a can of worms by healing someone to a state we've never seen them in before - and that's ignoring the fact that this decision strongly suggests the author isn't looking to do anything new or interesting with the characters when any physical harm they've faced in the past can be undone simply becuase it's convenient to the plot aesthetics of the show

Damn, being Alicia sure look painful.

@JorryRoger Alicia was dead and resurected, her eye was probably completely gone when Clev brought her back to life. Nell was dying but not dead yet and this time Clev took the time to patch her up with somes bits lying around.
Out of universe, there is almost no manga or anime character that are not hot in some extent. Nell looked bad because she was not healthy at all, now she is more healthy than ever so she's hot.

Alicia literally addressed this when he asked “how.” Not to mention the muffled sounds of the baby’s cries while he was thinking aloud.

The visual at 11:40 in EP1 show the eye under the cut being mostly intact, but that could just have been the animator not being fully familiar with the subject and story.

@Arguit Watch/read One Piece or Berserk - there are lots of unattractive characters in both those shows (good and bad guys alike in One Piece especially).

Having characters who are made attractive by their personality (or at least don't have being aesthetically pleasing as something they can lean on) is a big win in my book because it means you're capable of writing really good characters - something that Nell was pre-heal.

I'm willing to gamble on the show making Nell a dull/generic anime girl going forward, there'll maybe one or two more discussions/tear-jerker moments of her trauma but then it'll be like her background episodes never happened and she'll just a happy character who cares deeply for Luna + has comic gags about her boobs or food. I'd be really happy for the show to surprise me and treat her past as something serious that the gang/Alicia needs to work on helping her cope with, but the fact that she's given a transformation without any obvious justification (in-universe or out) makes me cynically assume the author isn't all that interested in properly discussing the heavy topics pre-heal Nell was brought in with.

And I'm gonna gently point out that a healthy Nell could also be fat and have wild hair - it's absolutely an aesthetic choice to make her slim and hot (instead of fat and hot if she absolutely needed to become hot for whatever reason)

I keep watching to either see if it will prove me wrong, kinda like the premise Clevatess made in the first episode (the only good one so far)

As someone who was recently certified as a beginner scuba diver, I'm mildly disappointed they didn't address the incredible ear pain that Alicia would've gone through while descending underwater roughly 100 feet or more (I'm only certified to dive down to about 66 feet), especially since she doesn't know how to equalize the ear pressure (hold your nose and blow, and the air should be forced into your sinuses). Also, she would've been in incredible pain when she ascended so rapidly. A normal human almost certainly would've died. The speed limit for ascending is 10 m (33 feet) per MINUTE.

But, I'm super happy that she left the bandits to die! Most shows would have the hero rescue the bad guys, but here, they got what they deserved!

So yeah, long term I'm gonna prefer a "fixed up" Nell 'cause she's just gonna be easier to listen to...but in-universe, the healing fixing her to this extent doesn't make any sense based on what has been said previously. The whole "can't heal what's totally gone" thing precludes fixing her teeth for example, and if years of abuse made her face permanently lumpy, it doesn't make sense that this healing would erase that rather than putting it back to its "normal" state of being all lumpy. Anyone trying to say it makes any kinda sense is grasping; you should just admit that it's nicer to have more attractive characters and move on. That's the long and short of why the author ignored their own in-universe healing rules...they introduced her lumpy and then changed their mind and decided they wanted a more appealing character, so they hand-waved it. Boom, done.

@popa910 One of my main complaints here - I don't care how much of an immortal hero you are! Humans feel pain, and the type of pain Alicia should be feeling should be extremely destabilizing!

Otherwise, amazing episode. Glad to see the show's kept going pretty well, unlike another fantasy show I'm watching on the same day that had a strong start and is in the pooper now...

What happened to Vroko is literally what happened in my D&D session. Invisibility spell? Good luck walking with your plate armor- wait, you carry the crying baby too. Stupid, but in a funny way.

I still can't wrap up how Nell/Nellele revived while Alicia is temporarily offed. I guess I missed out some lore logic here, but seeing that guy being humiliated while being invisible is satisfying. The plot is still too slow for me, but I'll keep watching it.

@MiaAyende When you look at Nell's mother, she was fairly pretty. The bandits seems to have treated Nell worse than they did her mother, years of abuse can literally change your appearance for the worse - when Clen patched her up - the damage she had suffered over years was also gone which i assume added to the glow up. He probably moved her weight around and add some troll DNA and bandit teeth, legs, etc... Alicia was dead and Nell was still alive, I think that had something to do with it. I think it made sense.

@R_sei_ I think they explained it decent enough. Clen can only use his Dark Ichor on one person at a time and so he had to take it out of Alicia to heal Nell. Alicia is a zombie so she needs it to stay alive. She died again temporarily to heal Nell and than the dark Ichor returned to her body to revive her again.

That could be explained if you really think about it. The extra fat could've been used to heal some of Nell's other missing portions, or she's probably only fat due to the unhealthy food and scraps she had to eat. If she had a balanced diet, this more likely than not would've been her body size. It all goes back to this being how she would've look if she lived a normal happy life. It's crazy how people love hot anime girls, but for some reason hate Nell looking normal. Like at this point yall are just complaining to be different.

@popa910 I had trouble equalizing my ears until I actually blew out my sinuses. Now? Easy as pie. Too bad about the easy sinus infections & bronchitis but I was warned, oh well. I consider getting rid of that awful pain a fair trade! ( I always had allergies that made this a real pain, no pun intended. Benadryl only helped a little.)

@ArthurBedlam She did not lose weight, she was probably swollen from all the beating she took over the years, plus all the hormonal alteration from all her failed pregnancies.

All of that was removed, and she became a normal girl.

I just don't get why is this upsetting people. Honestly. How is this the most important plot of this episode?

After the ep I was thinking about how her healing worked and being restored to a state as if she had never been through such abuse does make sense. Except one thing. Her pregnancies. Clen specifically wanted her as a nursemaid for Luna because she'd already had a bunch of kids and could produce milk. If she's reverted to a state where she's not been as abused, it seems likely that her ability to produce milk would be impacted. I'm sure the show/manga ignores it and she still can "because magic" but it would be an interesting plot point for something that Clen/Clevatess didn't take into consideration. Seeing how frankly uninformed he is about humans in general, it makes sense.

@LuZeke yeah i wonder whats next, i dont want to create any expectation because expectation is the killer of joy.

But this being a dark fantasy i bet there's something funky going to happen, and I bet it isn't magic, otherwise the hero would have been able to give the baby milk "magically" and as we could see, not even Klen blood was able to force her body to it...

This series isn't even that extreme, but at the end of the day it's clearly a dark fantasy. If one cannot handle the "dark" content and elements in their dark fantasy then it would be best just to stop watching and instead opt for another series, like watching the many many fantasy titles out there which are non-dark fantasies or huge number of series out there of all different genres and styles devoid of similar content not to their liking and sensibilities. It's not like they have to watch this one particular series which blatantly conveys that it's a dark fantasy and is probably going to have its share of scenes of death, conflict, and suffering straight from the outset in episode one.

And there are enough series which showcase the aspects of humanity more people would want to champion and celebrate, the noble aspects and heroism. Even in this very series it's apparent that a large part of it is over the dilemma of the duality of the uglier and more brutal and self-destructive side of humanity versus the heroism, perseverance, and altruistic self-sacrifice of a heroine like Alicia and then Clevatess/Klen likely having to weigh the two before rendering a final verdict on the fate of the human race. So even this series itself has plenty of that, couldn't have that sense of duality without it, and there are very very few series where it's not the case and humans are completely demonized (honestly can't even think of one off the top of my head). But the dastardly and cruel side is an extremely real part of human history and even reality today so deserves due screentime.

Nice to see that Nell, now known as Nelluru, was saved after all thanks to both Clevatess and Alicia. Regarding Vroko, that guy was so distracted by his excitement in finding the location of the 13 arcanacite weapons that he didn't realize that the baby started crying thus giving up his location, good riddance.

how tf is the hero alive at the end there? i'm so lost
@Zerity Apparently you can remain alive if the "dark ichor' is removed rather than reverting to dead, but you will no longer have its support, immortality, regenerative, and mid control features. So he can plug it into Nelluru temporarily to repairs her, and then put it back into Alicia, to control her and make her an unkillable warrior.

Seems vaguely lewd.
