| Reading through the comments and seeing that this episode was made in a another low budget studio. This show is getting passed around and no one's improving it. Seriously this episodes quality was absolute without a doubt, dog shit. So many off model characters it looked Kyo had a stroke in the beginning of the episode. I was slogging through this episode. Oh well, RIP Naoufumi's iconic green outfit. |

| After the last few Episodes I really had hopes up for the Show to get back to at least somewhat as good as S1 .... but now I'm even scared to rewatch S1 because i'm starting to feel like I might wrongfully remember it as amazing.... L'Arcs Group has had potential, Kizuna hasn't been uninteresting at first too.... (not as some other costume wearing girl.....)... there were just soo many things i was curious about in S1 but instead of going any of the interesting ways i could've imagined or surprising me with something... it's just a bunch of nothing.... its not bad, its not mid. it's just.... nothing. almost everything that happens seems... random in a predicatble way?! if that makes any sense... like a story an elementary school kid would write... the characters i came to love in S1 get no development (or real Action for that matter) what so ever... its just plain... stupid... i wanna cry. that was my favourite isekai? Am i stupid? Granted: the cutting in half part came unexpected (only somewhat interesting what? 2 seconds? of the episode).... but it couldn't get me much interested because it was clear from how casual they did that that it wouldn't have any longlasting impact and guess what -.- Kizuna.... wow... the girl who can't fight is looking for a way to not fight.... what a character... and now they even gave Filo a bs costume. it wasn't enough that they had to taint the show with one side character having that stupid gimmick. no. now the main cast gets dragged into the dirt too... for Real... i know that i won't be able to drop it because - as i said - S1 was my favourite Isekai (i know that there are objectively better ones but it played a huge role in me getting into anime so...) but it simply hurts. it's painful. i somewhat wish, there wasn't those few better episodes after Spirit Turtle Arc, so i would not have gotten my hopes up... i can't even really find words to accurately describe my disappointment... so sorry for the long Text... it's so sad. |

Yaggamy said: TigersAndDragons said: Yaggamy said: TigersAndDragons said: I swear every time Naofumi mentions the name 'Ost' as if she mattered in the least is infuriating. She was a nothing character. If the only reason you jumped through that portal after the turtle died was to avenge Ost, the writers have heinously failed with establishing a reasonable character motivation. I've said this on other posts, so I'll simplify it here: • Ost was destined to die regardless since her death stopped the turtle, thus stopping it's rampage • Kyo didn't even kill her, she killed herself. You can argue that him taking control of the turtle caused her death, but I'd be more angry at the many other lives the turtle took. Being angry at him for Ost's death is like being angry at Darth Vader for killing the random rebel soldier aboard Leia's ship in New Hope • It is shown that post-turtle death, the Wave timers in Naofumi's world are paused. Naofumi's life as of that moment just became infinitely easier, the Waves are effectively neutralized. You have no reason to jump into the portal to fight Kyo if it has something to do with the Waves. • If chasing Kyo has something to do with that vial of soul-fuelled power he took from Naofumi's world, who cares? The turtle expelled it's remaining soul power and it just turned into a bunch of plants. Why would you want to retrieve that, unless Naofumi is planning on taking up gardening? • To build on the previous point, if Kyo is somehow keeping the Waves paused in Naofumi's world, why. would. you. try. to. stop. him? Any argument for "well, he's plotting to obliterate the multiverse or some shit", that's conjecture. Meta knowledge from the manga/light novel/who cares is irrelevant since Naofumi can't exactly predict the future. • To build even further on the previous point, even if the Waves continued at some point while Kyo is on the run (like he turns it back on or something), L'Arc and his party are after him, and are therefore occupied. Those three contribute massively to the strength of the Waves that are trying to destroy. your world. Their distraction chasing Kyo actively helps Naofumi's world, so why, why, why would you help them? • If it's implied (it isn't at any point) that some great multi-universal crisis is abound due to Kyo's meddling, and thus "he must be stopped or all life is doomed", let's presume that Naofumi knew that (he didn't, we didn't either). We've then we've established that Naofumi abandoned his world to be obliterated by said possible crisis with no idea how he'd stop Kyo. He essentially pulled a Holdo Maneuver and the writers tell us it was the right plan. I'm this close to dropping this from the 4/10 it deserves to a 3/10 the writers clearly designed it to be. You're right because the bad adaptation makes the story look like it was written by an idiot. But some corrections: - The waves are not paused after the turtle died. - Kyo is extremely dangerous. He's going to use the souls he stole for something horrible if left alone and he'll come back and take revenge he said it himself. That's why they went after him to his world instead of waiting for his revenge. - The Spirit Turtle was sending out familiars that were turning living things into parasites. It was killing people around itself in like a 200km radius. Also the 3 looser heroes went missing inside the turtle. Naofumi couldn't sit back and not investigate. - Also the turtle was destroying cities. There was already a plan by the countries military to attack it. With, or without Naofumi. They had a higher change of survival if Naofumi joins them in the attack and he knew this. Fitoria didn't want to help until she found out that someone was controlling the turtle. Fitoria knows more than anyone else on the world btw. - The Spirits Turtle's purpose is to save the world by sacrificing the people in it. Not many people want to sit back and let it do that! Thanks for confirming for me it's a bad adaptation, no way this'd get adapted as is. Just a couple of points I already made but I'd like to reinforce in response to things you've said. Yaggamy said: - The waves are not paused after the turtle died. TigersAndDragons said: We've then established that Naofumi abandoned his world to be obliterated Yaggamy said: - Kyo is extremely dangerous. He's going to use the souls he stole for something horrible if left alone and he'll come back and take revenge he said it himself. That's why they went after him to his world instead of waiting for his revenge. As for the last 3 points, I feel like you're misunderstanding, I never said Naofumi shouldn't defeat the Turtle, I was specifically referring to going into the portal to 'stop' Kyo. The Spirit Tortoise "eats" souls and uses it as an energy source. Using those it builds a barrier to protect the world and the waves are paused while it's doing that. There was a Dragon Hourglass with blue sand in it that showed how many it collected so far. Once it is full, that barrier would permanently protect the world. But it wasn't full when Naofumi's group saw it. Also Kyo wasn't only after the energy, he wanted to analyze the weapons of the three loser heroes. The weapon Yomogi used this episode was a copy of Rem's. Naofumi had like a minute to decide to go after Kyo or not. His whole team wanted to. Ost's dying wish was to get the stolen souls back. Also Naofumi wanted to know more about the waves and about the otherwordly heroes. The anime cuts out a lot of content but Rishia was actively researching things in both worlds about the waves. Something is causing them and Naofumi wants to get to the bottom of this. Yeah again that doesn't really have anything to do with what I'm saying, but I don't have a problem with Naofumi and co going through the portal, it's the fact that with the information they have they shouldn't want to, and it being a split second decision doesn't make it any less silly. The bit about Naofumi wanting to 'know more about the waves' also isn't stated unless it's meta-knowledge from the source material which is really unfair to project onto anime Naofumi. |

I just reread a little bit of chapter 1 of volume 6 and even just that meeting between the four heroes and Queen Mirellia after returning from Cal Mira could’ve been so much better! When Naofumi punches Motoyasu just to show how weak he is in the face of the other heroes’ accusations that he is hiding a secret to getting stronger just so he can be overpowered gives fans what they loved from season one which is a hero that has to fight against persecution and hate but it also shows that Naofumi needs the others and can’t actually do this on his own. I dunno I mean that’s just one example but there’s so much skipped content this season that would’ve helped improve the quality imo. And I say this as someone who is caught up in the LNs and loves this series. I’m still enjoying it well enough but it definitely has flaws and missed opportunities. I just hope that we can make it through season 2, it gets renewed for season 3, and they take the time to do it justice. While the next arc that would begin season 3 wasn’t my favorite in the LNs (still good mind you) i would love to see some of those fights animated! |

Sorry for intruding on the conversation, I just want to help with the discussion. most of your points and questions are answered through the explanations of the mysteries of the waves and the spirit turtle that should have been in this episode, but it looks like it will be left to the next episodes or the writers cut it. As far as I know: When the turtle is activated, the waves stop. When the turtle dies or is deactivated, the waves return. And yes, the adaptation is bad, with few episodes. Ost should be remembered as "the enemy who became the heroine for her life" and the anime destroy it. and it's also strange the idea of the hero waiting for the enemy to come back one more time. the one about kyo's revenge is basically in that bottle, and as you can see, that bottle managed to create a wave. yamaggy is wanting to tell you without giving spoilers. No need to apologise my guy it's an open forum after all. I honestly wish Ost was never brought up, she was such an unimpactful character, using her death as motivation is just so weak and uninteresting. Naofumi doesn't know that Kyo will come back, and didn't know the effects of the bottle, Naofumi and the gang jumping into the portal after Kyo just comes off as just 'protagonists chase antagonist because that's what they're supposed to do' kinda stuff. |

Another waifu for the collection, babe! Like the good ole childhood friend who showed up this episode and decided to attack 6 people with cardinal weapons. Good one. The jank animation really didn't help. It's kinda wild how release dates a S2 are so far past when S1 ended but the production is still a clown fiesta. |

| As an anime-only watcher, I’m liking it and appreciating the small moments we’re getting to see between characters in this “isekai within an isekai” arc… Kizuna is so great as a new character! The L’Arc/Naofumi banter was perfect this episode! But most of this is overshadowed by just how ridiculously rushed this season feels. I’m sure LN readers have mentioned already how much material they’re speeding through in this adaption, because I haven’t read them and it’s still giving me whiplash. Idk, I just can’t help but think how much more I would have enjoyed this season as a 25-epi one, like season 1. I know what’s done is done, and we got what we got, but it hurts to see season 2 in this state, with 2 episodes left. (And episode 13 being a recap, I believe?) I just really wanted more time. |

| Boy, that was a bad one. The animation has reached new lows and characters were off-model more than I cared to count. The plot was atrocious too. Kizuna takes a liking to Kyo’s child friend because reasons? Then she shares almost no useful information and completely changes her perspective just because Naofumi was angry at him. Her conviction must not have been very strong despite being his lackey for who knows how many years. There’s more I could rip on, but idc. |

Originally Kyo summoned a wave to teleport half of Naofumi's group away in the middle of the fight because he couldn't beat them. The anime is rushing things so much that they're cutting out half of the Kyo battle by summoning the waves before the fight starts. Also by doing this the studio has to animate fewer people, so it's a budget decision. Kyo's endgame is season 4 content. |

Like, turtle arc was boring af because it was out of nowhere plot and you had no idea where it was going if you didn't read LN, and it was way too long. I guess the entire first half of S2 was basically that: they kept dragging you through plot points and you had no idea where is anything going. StallionXD said: If Raphtalia has the Vassal Katana, then why she didn't got teleported at the end with Kizuna & co.? I don't get it. PD: Kizuna is by far, without a doubt, the best character on this. Naofumi and Raphtalia isn't registered to the local Dragon Hourglass, that's why their team didn't get teleported when the wave started. |

Animation was ass and also looks like they’re skipping the assault on L’arc’s castle so they can end with Kyo fight. Kinema really fell off. And we all thought "Seven Deadly Sins" got the worst of the "terrible animation". Shield Hero has the budget, but not the heart. At least you could write off SDS as not trying... I still have flashbacks to the "sperm blood". Shield Hero S2 never gave a damn right from episode 1. "Gets better after the Turtle Arc!" They all said... BETTER WHEN? THE EPISODE 13 RECAP?? The story does get extremely peak but the anime has done an awful job of adapting it The Animation quality really took a down turn cause this whole episode was mostly outsourced with DR Movie rather than Kimetra Circus. IT is extremely apparent everytime that studio takes over the production the quality drastically drops. I swear they should of never let them get their hands on it as it is clear their wasnt any real communication between the two. I guess with both Covid and Made in Abyss s2 they had to get someone but they are just bad man. I really hope they dont get involved with s3 production. I pretty much made my peace with this adaptation as it will never live up to s1. If that was a 9.5 this is a 6.5/7. Not too bad but certainly not great. Well at least most of the scenes i wanted from the book made it in so i can always read those again with the scenes animated. |

| The animation quality dropped, the dialogues were so weird and unnatural, the writing felt contrived, Kyo is the worst designed villian of this series, Glass's power scale has been nerfed without a reason. And having the waves feel so underwhelming, generic, and boring. 0/10 |
