I watch sub unless I'm watching anime with a friend of mine. She can't keep up with the subtitles and I mean they can be pretty fast sometimes. I'm used to them after years of watch sub, but I want her to have fun so I watch it dubbed with her. I also don't mind it much. I just prefer subbed that's it.

We shouldn't hate on other people, just cause they watch dub, it's pretty stupid lol

This! Not everyone always enjoy watching the anime subbed, and some people even prefer the dub over the sub
for some shows. I don't insult other people just because they don't like subs or dubs on specific shows that I like.

That's sub elitists for you, never expect them to consider this.

A little of both. I happen to watch subbed more often because of Crunchyroll, and my preference depends on the show, as I think some of them actually have better dubs than their original subbed version:

I'm more likely to watch 90's anime dubbed, though, mostly for nostalgia.

As long as none of the voices are too grating or don't fit the characters at all, I can live with dubbed anime.

'Dubbed and watch subbed episode if dub are not available.'

Honest to god I have no idea how y'all can be so toxic about a personal preference. I'm not criticizing anyone who says they like subbed better than dubbed or vice-versa. Like, I can understand the argument that the voice actors are not as good or that dub sounds strange if you're used to listening to the voices in Japanese, or that you might have a difficulty reading or just not want to do it when you watch something. I'm not saying that you can't have valid reasons for liking or disliking one or the other.

But straight up saying that a preference is trash or cringe is just...so unnecessarily antagonistic. At the end of the day people have their own preferences and trying to invalidate or shame someone for that is just incomprehensible to me.

I've always loved both! Each version is great, every voice actor, no matter the language, always brings their A-game. I usually listen to a little bit of the sub and dub and then just watch whichever one I like better.
This^^^

I really like that you take the time to listen to both before you watch something, and I think that's a really good approach.

When I'm starting a new series, I have a preference to watch it in dub, but I have no problem watching it in sub if there isn't a dub. Almost all the seasonal anime I watch is usually in sub, because there sometimes isn't a dub for a show and if there is it can sometimes be a few weeks behind.
The only strict rule I follow when it comes to language preferences is that I don't switch languages in between a show cuz the difference in voice really throws me off. So often when a new season starts there are a few shows that I have to wait for the dub for because that's how I watched the series originally.

Completely agree. I do have a reason to watch dub, but even if I didn't it would still be my preference. This whole thing is funny to me. No one gets to dictate how I enjoy my choice of entertainment, that's just childish and silly.

Dubbed but not for the reason listed in the poll. Dubbed is better because you can take your eyes off of the screen every now and then. Besides, I grew up watching cartoons dubbed in English anyway. Why am I listening to a language that I don't understand and have zero interest in anyway? Subbed is only good for if you want to read but don't want to open a book.

I only watch subbed when there is no dub available.

Ah, misclicked. Meant to say that I only watch sub when dub isn't available.

It's not a preference, really. It's genuinely difficult for me to focus on any sort of reading when someone is speaking thanks to ~Audio Processing Issues~. Watching subbed series takes a long time and I usually end up having to rewatch scenes if I'm not in the right headspace going in, it's awful. I can usually deal with it if I'm fully prepared and awake, but even some series like Kaguya-sama or Mo Dao Zu Shi are impossible for me because of the speed or if multiple characters speak at once.

I prefer subbed from the point that it preserves the original audio.

Apologizing for my bad English.

I think sub>dub just because japanese voice acting has its own rules and dub just can't do the same, characters in dub quite often sounds complete opposite then their original voices. I didn't see much dub, like I know dub in Code Geass or Naruto, but hell no, I can't watch this.

For example let's take the moment in Naruto, when ressurected Madara on 4th war trying to call Hashirama to fight when he reached the battlefield: "I've been waiting for you, Hashirama!". Just listen to Madara's passion and excitement in his original voice when he meet his eternal rival, this is a real masterpiece, this line gives me a goosebumps.
And now take the dub and this line really was ruined and killed my excitement as a viewer.

Or take the Nunnally dub in CG, especially on Zero Requiem, goddamn it, what a garbage.
Maybe there are dubs that makes sense, like Black Lagoon, but I think this is an exception

And idk why, but watching dub makes me feel like I'm watching some Nickelodeon stuff

definitely sub. I think dub is kinda cringe, and most of them are hard to sit through. But there are some exceptions. Take death note, the voice acting was good, but it never gets as good as the sub i.e. Light's laugh. Less reading, but the original voices seem to fit better, and the translations are more direct (I know because I've learned a bit of Japanese). It doesn't matter. But I think sub is better because episodes can be watched almost immediately after air and the CV's fit perfectly (most).

On my side I just can't focus if I hear anything else than original voices.
Dubbed version give me so many wrong vibes and it make me awkward-smile and so many eyes-roll. Ugh !

Imagine watching dubbed. Subbed is obviously best. The English language does not fit anime, usually sounds really cringe.

Depends...anime like EVA are dialogue heavy and with alot of symbolic imagery, so I dont like to read while watching, you can lose alot of important info.

I kinda prefer dubs, but I don't have any reservations about watching something subbed. If the dub isn't good enough, then I'll watch the anime subbed instead.

I would say I watch 90% sub, 10% dub. Some shows I prefer dub to sub on are Kill la Kill, Death Note, and FMAB. But I can usually only count on really good shows to have good dubs, and I'm not waiting longer on the dub for a currently airing show.

Well, obviously the vast majority of people prefer subs. Feels like there's no point to even asking this question as if one day English dubs can get good enough to actually rival Japanese voices. Maybe it'd be better to ask how many people have at least one English dub they truly enjoy.

I watch dubbed anime nowadays simply because of the convenience. Plus, when I'm tired and want to watch an anime at night I find it easier to listen to the dialogue instead of having to read it.
