I've seen a few of the ones mentioned in this thread but I dislike most of them, like Maison Ikkoku (yikes!) and Akira. The only one I like is Dragon Ball and Touch.

I always thought that I was the only person who hated "Maison Ikkoku," lol.

It was the first time I saw an anime where all the characters were so annoying, it ruined the whole anime for me. There was nothing funny about it. I didn't like "Urusei Yatsura" either, for the exact same reason.

I highly recommend "Tokimeki Tonight," and that's an 80s romcom that most would enjoy.

Vifam. One of the underrated mechas.despite most character being kids, it is a well written series.

Superb taste.

After seeing about 175 of them I would say that Angel's Egg is the best one overall.

- So 1990 is in the 80s? Maybe different definition than mine.
- He only partially worked on it.
By the way the best part of Nadia is the initial one where they worked with the concept of Miyazaki.

No mokkori in the TV version as far as I know

What do you mean by that?
He does ecchi stuff and says "Mokkori" a lot. Are you talking about certain arc?

Ai no Wakakusa Monogatari (Little Women), 1987. Dubbed into English. Probably best animated 19th century shojo-slice of life of the decade, by later Ghibili director Y. Kondo as animation director. Attention to detail is incredible. I had seen in in Japanese with subs

Little Princess Sara, 1985,another masterful novel adaptation, fully fansubbed too.

Story of the Alps:my Annette, 1983, not as good as the series above but it has its unique moments

Lady Georgie, one of the best shojo titles by TMS. Notice that the dubs are edited compared to the Japanese version.

Vifam. One of the underrated mechas.despite most character being kids, it is a well written series.

Aoi Blink. Tezuka's last directed series, which makes it a must watch.

Attacker You! Not as good as Attack no 1,but an enjoyable volleyball series. Dubs are heavily edited again.

Plawress Sanshiro. Pre-pokemon, Digimon series, only much cooler.

Spaceship Sagittarius. One of the best scifi series out there, adapted from an Italian comic.

Ashita no Joe 2.sequel to the 70s series, just as good.

Nadia:Secret of Blue Water. H. Anno best work after Evangelion

Nice! I've been meaning to watch City Hunter since i'm currently reading the manga that it's based on.

Georgie is so damn cute and also beautifully drawn. Anne of Green Gables was also a pre Ghibli product but by Miyazaki and Takahata, just like Heidi.

Probably something Ghibli; it's just the question of which one. xD

Legend of the Gaylatic Homos is both a blessing and a curse. From My Little Nazi, Reinhard, Can't Be This Cute to Ying-Yang Wenli. How to make an innacurate fictional history book with lots and lots of spatial innacuracies. And a worldbuilding that is weak but fallaciously looks like a complex one. "Mary Sues in Space" and "Gay Men Drinking Tea" couldn't be more beffiting parody titles. As I said before and I'll say it once again:
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu in favorites = Confirmed sgumbag.

I havent watched the TV series but I read that certain parts were edited like when he is shown having a huge hard-on or use his tool for various uses, from wall breaking to woman's hanger or seat. Reading the manga, I found those moments a little extreme for a prime tv series. Unless I am mistaken.

80s and 90s seemed like the time of overly edgy and incredibly manly anime. I mean, I have seen parts of Fist of the North Star and what to say... it's comedy gold, as much as Dragonball. ^^" as much as some others short OVA.

But from what I've seen, my favorite is Castle in the Sky, Grave of the Fireflies and Nausicaä.
Also, I liked Totoro and Kiki.
Akira was a bit too much as well, but I really liked it.

I'm watching sometimes a bunch of episodes of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku too and might continue with Ranma.

LOGH began in '88, so if it counts that's my favorite (even though it continued through the 90s). If not, I pick Rose of Versailles. Nvm, that's from '79.

I suppose there is also mecha like Gundam and Macross but I thought the former felt too repetitive with all the battles and I never managed to get into the latter to begin with. Ranma is a good one too, but I mostly read it as a manga, so I haven't seen the majority of the anime.

I actually had the anime adaptation of Little Women on VHS years ago, but that was before I even knew what anime was. I did like it though.

Pretty much just Venus Wars, Macross, Hokuto no Ken, Ramenman and Ghibli stuff during the time. Other than that, not a big fan of the 80s in terms of anime considering the fact that I grew up with mostly 80s kids shows like ThunderCats, Flintstones Kids, BeetleJuice, G.I. Joe and Inspector Gadget.

Not a big fan of the 80s except for its great aesthetics, but If I had to mention the ones I like the most, I would start with Legend of the galactic heroes.

It´s followed in my list by Ashita no Joe S2, Dragon Ball, Rose of Versailles (finished in 1980), Dragon ball Z, Macross and Devilman OVA 1.

Watched Akira like a decade ago, I remember having a good time but I should probably give it a rewatch. Also, I remember watching saint seiya when being a kid, but never finished it.

Last, but not least, you have Daicon III and IV, two short specials. the first one is cute and nice but the second one is a super fun spectacle
