 Ah well, I actually enjoyed Highschool DxD despite it having a dumbass protagonist and all the obvious 'plot' hanging everywhere. About to start watching the 2nd Season, so why not? One can't have enough of Rias and Akeno. |

Well, DxD also portrays not only Christianity but also Hinduism, Buddhism, Norse, Greece, Irish, Welsh, Egypt, Persian, old England and a bit Slavic. Read the novels if you want to know Complex world building is not always an advantage per comparison though. Its how it mix on the plot. As for the Valli's group, sure I forgotten about it but most of them are all character development only so I don't so it really added well to the plot. As far as the plot is concern, DxD plot is about the growth of Gremory group. Valli's group was included as it is related to Issei and Valli tandem if what I recall is right. And I still stick to my idea that T7 does that part better due to what I mentioned. Also, if you are wondering why I think like that, I think that its wrong to compare the two title in the beginning but I did that to share my opinion. DxD is shounen oriented but what about T7? It's harem and comparing the 2 by basic definition of genre is useless. |

Read the novels if you want to know I think that the world in DxD is done in a better and superior way,I do agree T7 has better art and animation,but come on DxD aired in 2012 and 2013,and T7 aired in 2014,that's a nice difference in art style over the years.T7 is a great harem,echii anime I do agree,but what I don't like with T7 and other harem's is that the MC get's his harem in like 5 episodes or so,but Issei in the anime after 2 seasons has 4 girls.With that I say that DxD has a lot of better character development,where T7 has some character development but I think that it's kinda rushed with it.(With that I mean the development between the girls and the MC). And now to talk for what I'm here for,Cant wait for the Spring season!The first scene will be worth a laugh! And just watched the PV and Rossweise!!!is it two cour???Oh the hype!!! |

I also disagree. If DxD was just 100% fanservice I would have dropped it and never would have read the novels. In comparison, I couldn't watch past the first episode of Trinity Seven despite it not having that much fanservice in the first episode. What makes DxD really worthwhile is the slapstick and self-aware over-the-top humor that is always present. The actual plot follows a very classic shounen plot (yes there is a shounen plot) and introduces a shit tons of characters and mythology every arc. Neither of these elements alone would be sufficient to make the series good but the combination of all of the above + fanservice makes this series more entertaining than it should have been. This proves there are shitty fanservice-oriented series and superior fanservice-oriented series. Not all fanservice-oriented series can be put in the same bin just because it has fanservice, a common mistake people often make. |
