There are a lot of things I would like to say about this anime and it's story but I can't be really bothered. Simply saying this was one of the worst anime I have ever seen, mainly thanks to the main character Yuki. I've had enough watching depressed kids who don't know what they want to do with their life, that they cannot make a simple choice. The story was so predictable, boring and lame...

That bloody Yuki, I would kick his ass and break his face badly.
Peace!

It's a pretty nice show, but I didn't really like the ending. It didn't feel right.

I've only read the last chapter of the manga but for me the endings were the same and I am sure it was meant like that in the anime, but they didn't want to show you hammertime? LOL

This is my favorite anime. because:
- It was just exciting every episode again
- The story and how it plays is just so mainstream
- One of the first anime's with such different patterns in it (special)
- The art, quality, sounds, effects and everything that played in, played effectively
- I've never seen an anime like this before and maybe, because I like the slightliest bit of romance in it even tough it's exciting, questionable and full of action
- YANDERE FTW?

Only thing they could really do better was the ending, it was happy but it didn't feel complete as for the main characters.
(How did Yuno find him if the game ended, what happend after they met)

And also for the next project, I don't like it.
To much difference from the anime and I think their acting is not that well + I already quited after the first episodes (too boring)

EDIT: I watched it for the 2nd time xD

This anime's ending was asinine and completely ignored any sort of character development whatsoever.

That said, you have to give Yuno props.

She started as a psychotic b%&&^ and ended as one.

Well, I'm glad this anime is over. Never read the manga, so I don't just how bad the manga's ending was. Anyway, overall, I give this anime an 8/10. Some parts were awesome; others didn't make sense.

I kind of enjoyed the ending. I was happy to see Minene end up with Nishijima, along with her quarter-god, flying babies (LOL). Also, good to see all the players alive and doing well. Even got to see Akise alive. Huh. I was glad that Yuno is normal and living a happy life with her parents instead of being a psychotic yandere that everyone (but me) seemed to love. Not to mention, I never thought Yukiteru would end up with his crush.

Meanwhile, Yuki from the second world seemed to be sulking (lame). Honestly, it's been 10,000 years; get. the. hell. over. her. You're a god now; you can do what ever the hell you want to. -_-

Now here's a list of things I don't understand/agree with/like:

  • There are two Minene Uryu's in the third world now - one a terrorist; the other a demigod.
  • How is it Nishijima is in love with Minene? O_o I mean, what are the chances that this Nishijima would also fall in love with Minene without turning her in? *Sigh*
  • If the Survival Game never happened and the world is (obviously) still peaceful, who did Deus choose to succeed him?
  • How is Deus still alive? -_-
  • How can Yuno visit Yuki? He's a god living in a different plane of reality. Which Yuno is this? World 1 Yuno killed herself, World 2 Yuno was killed by herself, and World 3 Yuno is utterly clueless about any of this and living a happily clueless life. So how in the hell did Yuno meet up with Yuki? A fourth world, maybe? (Unlikely) We even see Yuno and Yuki creating a new world in the end. Yuno (obviously) has some godlike powers too.
  • What's with all the Murmurs in the end? O_o

As for the first two, the story just wanted to give everyone a happy ending. It's kind of dumb though, isn't the game just going to start anyway? LOL I didn't even think of that, they didn't do anything that would have stopped the game from taking place. The ending was utterly stupid and not even worth devoting a conscious thought to. Their were multiple Murmurs from different timelines, one from the first world and one from the second world. That's perfectly plausible, nothing wrong about that one.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Just finished it.

I'm not sure how anyone can call this good, in all seriousness. Every character contradicts themselves at one point or another, every plot element is inconsistent, and it's just a mish-mash of elements from other popular series.

The whole Yuno character is just absurd. I was okay with her being a crazy psycho because it was amusing, but then Yukki started actually falling in love with her and that's when I began to pull my hair out. She's EVIL. This is seriously just Elfen Lied (Lucy) and Higurashi (Reina) all over again- "Oh she's cute sometimes so she's really likeable! Never mind the fact that she's a murdering psychopath that would kill anyone near me in an instant in a fit of jealous rage or just because!"

I tried to find a reason to give this series even a 5, or something, but I can't in good conscience give it higher than a 4- I think that might even be too generous. It's an amusing series, but it's so laughably bad.

WOW. I just finished it and added to my favourites. I really liked this anime. I almost cried when Yuno saw Yuno from the third world with her parents. It was so sad. And poor Yuki, being all alone for thousands of years.
There is only one thing that I don't understand. Why Yuki wanted Yuno to kill him? Why did he say that when he die he would create a happy world for Yuno? If he died Yuno would become God. How it would make her happy?

You are asking for an explanation from a series that does very little explaining at all, and when it DOES explain, it's either very convoluted, stupid, makes no sense, contradictory, or somehow involves gang rape.

The author probably thought it sounded romantic, and it's a generic line used in hundreds of other (better) anime. Don't read into it or, well, ANYTHING in this series.

3, 4, and 5 are all explained in the manga. Deus in the ending is the third world version of himself who is still alive because it is almost two years before the survival game begins. That part is pretty obvious in the anime. There is not a survival game in the third world and Deus finds a less apocalyptic to choose a successor. Blah blah blah manga stuff blah happy end.

Lol at Yuki still being a loner after 10,000 years or something.

Like seriously, for the majority of the series he hated her because she was a crazy bitch. Near the end, he decides to have sex with her ONLY so he can experience it before he dies. Then in the 3rd world(probably took less than one days' time), he changes his feelings and can never get over it?

Yuki's actions throughout the series imply that his feelings for her changed a lot.
- Early in the series Yuki coldly uses her to survive the game because he can't survive otherwise.
- After a few episodes Yuki begins appreciating her dedication to protect him and tries to reciprocate them. This is shown for the first time in the fight with 6th when he tries to save her from getting raped.
-After that Yuki starts to grow out of his antisocial ways a bit by making other friends. Yuki also begins taking a more active role in trying to survive the game.
-Yuno kidnaps Yuki and they split up after Yuki escapes. Yuki acts more independently after he escapes because Yuno isn't there to do everything for him. Yuno still follows him around and helps him survive though making it impossible to stay away from her completely.
-Yuki and Yuno bond a lot during Yuki's evil phase. This can be shown when she is there for him after his parents' deaths. They also act much more natural around each other when they are talking about the script for revealing the 11th's identity and even during missions.
-After Yuki finds out Yuno was using him and couldn't bring people back to life he does not lash out at her the way he did against everyone else. He doesn't trust Yuno at this point but he still spends his time with her. He could have killed her, he could have questioned her, and he could have committed suicide but he didn't. Yuki was confused about his feelings for her and especially her feelings for him.
-When Yuki finally makes sense of those feelings he becomes determined to save Yuno. After entering the third world he tries to save it from Yuno to make up for everything he did in the second world. Everything else is Yuki trying to have his cake and eat it too. He failed and lost Yuno, his lover and the only thing left from the second world that he cares about.

This was a very fun anime to watch 10/10. I think a lot of people here are putting too much thought into plot holes and flip-flopping characters and aren't enjoying it as a whole. The only plot hole that really bothered me was why Deus of the 3rd universe is fine and dandy; changing the futures of the players shouldn't change the fact that there still needs to be a new god.

It was a pretty good ending, the whole sulking for 10,000 years was a bit much, but otherwise I really enjoyed the series. I guess I'm one of the few people that really liked Gasai Yuno, the crazy shit she did so that she could be with Yukki was what made her a great character in my opinion.

TL;DR May not be the best anime out there, but its still a better story than Twilight.

Third world Deus is still fine and dandy because it's 2 years before the game starts for his successor. In the manga he apparently chooses someone sane without the game.

-Now here's my theory as to why we can hear Yuno call out to Yuki. Deus selects Yuno to be his follow up god, she discovers about the other two worlds, and tries to seek out the Yuki from the second world.

Here's what's wrong with my theory though; The third world Yuno would have no feelings for Yuki because none of it ever happend to her.
The only two who had feelings for Yuki were the first and second world Yunos.
So because she has no feelings for Yuki she would have no reason to seek him out.

I don't know any more to be honest, I guess all this will be answered in the third season. And we're definitely getting a third season the way they left things, it couldn't be any clearer. I mean they even put a "next project" sign at the end.

Deus selects both, Yuno and Yukki to replace him in the Third World. Murmur gives Third world Yuno First Worlds Memories. Third world Yuno has memories of how Yukki made her feel in the previous other worlds. When she obtained her own memories from the previous timelines, it's as if she's experienced them, herself.

I got a lot of this from the Manga as the Anime doesn't explain it as thoroughly as it should have.

The worst example of this for me was the one eyed purple haired girl with the escape diary. She blew up a whole school, and is frequently called a "terrorist" but everyone seems to forget that near the end.

I liked the anime for the most part, but the end and the last few episodes pretty much ruin the whole thing for me.

I still have mixed feelings about this series. It was a great story, at its heart. But Yukiteru's character was so poorly executed. The ending was okay. The fight between Uryu and Murmur was pretty damn epic too.

But I do like the overall sort of moral of the story. It's not really a moral, I'm just not sure what to call it. Anyways, here is my explanation:

Yuki was encountered by this love-crazed stalker girl, with whom he had an extreme aversion to. Then he decides to "use" her to survive, and is assured by Yuno that it's okay. But slowly he loses the initial aversion he had. Then he decides to choose his friends over Yuno, with extreme anger towards Yuno. However, Yuno doesn't show any change in her demeanor afterwards, and Yuki begins to lose his aversion again. Eventually, he begins to love her, the girl he called a stalker. When faced with the choice of trusting Yuno or his friends, which are sacrificing everything to try and save him from Yuno. He trusts the stalker he fell in love with, but doesn't fully understand how much he betrayed his friends, because he still thinks he can bring them back. Going insane from not knowing who to trust, he goes "all in" with Yuno, killing all his friends. But even after he realizes what he lost, he doesn't seem very interested in it. He is now infatuated with Yuno. Then Yuno decides to give up Yuki and kills herself, making him the god. But he was so in love, that he simply sits and does nothing for 10,000 years, and says "a world without Yuno is pointless."

So basically, he fell in love with the girl he didn't like because she was a stalker and was obsessed with him, and he became obsessed. Then after she kills herself, he is so obsessed that all his friends that sacrificed their lives, mean nothing to him. He just sits and mopes for 10,000 years.

Sad...

It's not so much that Yukki trusted Yuno more then his friends as he was in denial. He wasn't thinking "I love Yuno, so I'm gonna trust her." He was thinking, "Oh God! They can't be telling the truth. If they are, that means I'll never see my parents again and I murdered all those people for nothing." Then he uses Yuno as an excuse to disregard his friends' warnings because he isn't willing to accept the possibility they are telling the truth.

Also, Yukki did not fall in love with Yuno because she was obsessed with him. He fell in love with Yuno because she has been protecting him since the beginning of the game. The obsession and stalking scare Yukki throughout the entire series. Even in the final battle Yukki does not like Yuno's stalking and obsession with him, but he still tries to save her.

This Anime. Is the best anime i have ever watched. I just finished the Anime and read the end of the Manga and all i have to say is wow. This is amazing. I've never witnessed so many sad/happy feelings and plot twists in any anime.

The last 4 episodes were the episodes that really really made me think about this and after seeing the last episode i feel the post anime depression kicking in. Despite Yuno being super crazy, she was an amazing character also. The same goes for Yuki crying all the time. BUT, i'm glad that Yuno was unable to make the Third world's future become like the first world Yuno/Yuki's double suicide since Yuki changed the future so everyone lived happily in the Third world.

Cept that the first Yuno killed herself. Making Yuki god so that means, Yuki is lonley in the second world while the first world is destroyed and since the future is changed the third world is normal and perfect and the third world Yuno is god and has her first world memories?? And Lastly, The first Yuno actually did all that just for Yuki?

The hammer isn't here from the future chapter 1? :( God damn it Murumuru.

Still, 10/10. Someone give the writer a huge huge huge award.

From everyone's comments it seems as though you either love or hate it!
Anyway, I liked this episode, it was quite emotional and wrapped things up with the other diary owners, especially Minene. I wasn't happy with Yuki just wanting to be with Yuno after everything...he's unbelievably pathetic and I never knew I could dislike a fictional character so much. Towards the end of the series it seemed like some bizarre romance which was just..well, bizarre. All in all I enjoyed the beginning up until Yuki's parents died, from then on I think it went a bit downhill and there were a lot of loose ends that were never explained or poorly explained. I really hated the way the characters constantly contradicted themselves, Yuki especially. I felt that in pretty much every episode, he would change his mind about Yuno. I disliked the episodes leading up to the end but the end episode itself was much better (despite my hatred of Yuki and Yuno). The bits I liked were the action scenes and the beginning was intense.
So yeah, crazy anime that completely fucks with your head, in good and bad ways. I doubt I'll rewatch. 7/10

I hope the OVA continues the manga ending

7/10, it was good but certain scenes were just too frustrating to watch.

HOLY SHIT. That was outrageous. I fvcking love the execution though some of the viewer may disagree but who cares? It's should be done the way the series should be executed. The bad-assery of this show makes me all pumped up to do something, Not to the extent of killing though lol. This show was done the way it should be done. I really love the way they controlled the feelings of the viewers to the extent of hating and putting up harsh words against them, and i have to admit, im one of those viewers who were greatly affected by this presentation. Good Job Staff! I Salute you all for giving such a masterpiece wherein people can actually enjoy themselves. I have never been this happy yet sad at the same time after i finish an anime and or marathon it. The post sickness is starting over me. I have yet to find another anime to fill in this hangover.

I should read the manga for any closures that i want to know though. BTW, Ninth was the best Character in this series. Ninth > Second (Yuno Gasai) ALL HAIL URYUU MINENE. She was such a good character. Yukiteru was very annoying though. I hate how his idiotic mind work.

I'll never ask questions though regarding on this series 'cause it's quite idiotic to do so. I know the show had it's flaws, it has so many inconsistencies, holes and so many other forms of defects but who cares? As long as the one watching it enjoys, then whats the matter? The purpose of anime is to make a recreation and to let people enjoy themselves right? So, I guess some people hating it are just overreacting a bit. THANKS MIRAI NIKKI FOR GIVING ME SUCH A GOOD MINDFVCK. I love it!

10/10, MASTERPIECE.

Finished it myself, and really loved it, then i read the last chapter of the manga, to bad they didn't put that also in the ending of the anime. Would be alot better.

Anyways it was really a good anime and hopefully there will be a new season^^

These animes who end without any sense...

At leat become a god don't make anything special because Yuki only repeats the third world time by time...

Wow, I had chills in the scene when he broke out. I also really liked the soundtrack playing when it went through each participant in their new future.

So, in the end, I was a little confused still, but I will give it a lot of thought and hopefully it will make more sense to me then.

I haven't read the manga (seems a lot of people have), so I read the last chapter (heard a lot about some hammer), and I think I like the anime's adaptation more so than the manga's last chapter. It makes me laugh, hearing everyone talk about the hammer, because yeah, it was kind of lame or cheesy or something of the sort.Anyway, the anime seemed to have more impact on me because it ended so mysteriously rather than a concrete, happy ending. With that said, I generally like watching anime more than reading manga, for obvious reasons such as the animation, music, voice acting.

Well, marathoned this in a day, all the feels. I missed out on the feeling of anxiety after each episode (which I actually kind of like), haha.

So, I've seen a lot of mixed feelings on this series. Although I really loved it (9/10 or 10/10), I haven't read the manga so I can't compare what was done well and what wasn't (I guess that's good for me, to enjoy it so much). New series to add to my favorites as well.

Some other thoughts:
I liked the first OP the best out of the sequences, it was very catchy and had that feeling of insanity like the series (Yuno especially).
When I need a definition of yandere, I'll think of Yuno. When I think of Yuki, I think of a dependent and selfish person.
I kind of have that feeling of emptiness or depression now, haha. Such a good series.

A good ending for the people of the 3rd world but a sad one for Yukki. The only one thing that i couldn't agree is the difference in the ending of manga and the series.
But the idea of giving Yukki and Yuno the position of Gods of time might have been a better solution.
Since i enjoy more watching then reading I decided to stick with the ending of the series. I was thinking of giving it a 10/10 but when i saw that moment when the diary updated and it was written that Yuno is coming to see Tukki made me change my mind.
This part makes me feel like the story is left open and hasn't reached its total end. So i will give it a 8/10.

If you carefully watch the ending you get hits of the ending in manga basically they become both gods.

I have question tho.Whay did Yuno wanted to stay and die in the 3th world i watched it twice and i am not 100% whay and some tell me?

And after 40 animes watched so far(not much i know watching anime for about half a year)this is still my favorite anime 10/10 for me.

..........THAT'S IT? What the fuck? Its great that there's a nice happy ending in the third world, but.....what about God Yuki? I am quite disgusted with that ending. It was a great series, but what the fuck is up with that ending? Just complete and utter despair for God Yuki? That's IT? No second season? Fuck this shit.

According to [this post], a new "project" has been announced. No idea when it's coming through, though.

Rumour has it that it's going to be a live-action adaptation of something related to Future Diary.

Very touching ep.
Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.
The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck.
