| I thought the ep was alright, but I definitely hated the fact that they eliminated Kamina so early on and then kept reminding you of his contributions for the remainder of the series. |

| NUUU. TT________TT Lol, late watcher is late. I accidentally had this spoiled for me, so I delayed watching this episode for a while. But it still was successfully effective, though. Anyways, I thought that this was the best episode of Gurren Lagann from what I've seen before this. This episode was like an emotional roller coaster-even if GL brings to mind a lot of anime cliches, there's some great writing if you really emphatize with the characters. Especially with regards to Kamina's death. When he was fatally hit, I literally started crying, then when Gurren Lagann combined which resulted in an EPIC battle scene I was cheering for them to win, though I eventually knew that Kamina was going to die later, anyways (and resumed in sadness). I liked the imagery with the rain after Kamina dies-you just hear the sound as you see everyone else in agony, then Simon says solemny, "We lost something important that day." But anyways, I'm looking forward to the next episode-I see Simon's growth is going to be a pivotal point in the series, assuming that Kamina fills the "mentor" archetype, who is supposed to help the hero realize their own potential, then passes away so the hero can actually reach their own potential by instigating internal change within themselves, you know? And I'm also interested in seeing how Yoko will grow through this as well, considering that she just confessed her love for him before he died. And previewing the next episode, looks like we have Nia emerging as part of the cast now! |

For the past 8 episodes its been the same: (Excerpt from IRC) [03:30] <Rani> Simon: "im so scared!" [03:30] <Rani> Kamina and/or Yoko: "keep it together! Be strong!" [03:30] <Rani> Simon: "Ill do it because you say so!! RAWRRR!!!!" [03:30] <Rani> (they win the battle...THE END) Maybe we might get some decent episodes starting now... EDIT: yes wini did spoil the crap out of this and therefore postponed my viewing of this so far decent show but my hatred for Kamina was so large i still remember that stupid spoiler. |

| I cried...A LOT, after seeing this episode. I seriously called my friend and I was just bawling. The whole part with Yoko before the battle was COMPLETELY adorable, and I was wanting so much more of that after...but I guess not. T_T I'm just hoping that Simon becomes so much stronger from this. I know he can do it! <3 |

| That really was a phenomenal episode. Perfect blend of all the emotions you can get from an anime, and dam i feel bad for Simon having to see the Kamina x Yoko. But now he's supposedly dead, and all i can do is furiously continue the series. Truly a fantastic anime. |

| Okay, I'm one of those people who cries quite easily during movies and tv shows. I'm just really emotional about certain things. But I don't think I've EVER cried as hard about a fictional character as I did during this episode. And I even KNEW before I started watching this series that he wasn't going to make it. But yeah, it was so hard to watch. T_T I have to take a (short!) break from it now because I'm not ready to watch it again, knowing he's not there anymore. DX |

| Friend: What episode are you on? Me: I'm not sure... 7 or 8? I think I might drop the show soon. The only character I really like is Kamina... Friend: No! Don't drop it yet. Boyfriend: Which episode are you on? 7 or 8? Me: I don't know. 8 I guess. Friend: Well, what happens in it? Boyfriend: Yeah, cause something important happens in 8. Me: I'm not really sure. I don't remember. Boyfriend: Did Kamina die? Friend: Yeah, Kamina dies in 8. Me: .......no....no he didn't die yet. And thats how I was spoiled! xD It was a pretty sad death. I expected more dramatic music though. I really hope what everyone says is true, and that the show gets better after this. So far, I've been bored with it. Think I'll give it a couple more episodes though. Not too sure how good is going to be without Kamina. |

| To be perfectly honest, it now becomes a slog of samey battles. So it depends on personal preference, it was exciting enough to keep me watching. But it's not for everyone. Then something else big happens. |

I might be in the minority but i will not like it if Kamina was somehow still alive after this. You do not build up the emotion and then have it all taken away. I'm glad that it's not like one of those anime where a main character never seems to die. It was really an emotional roller coaster this episode and I can't wait to find out what happens to everyone else after this loss. |

| Holy crap, I didn't expect Kamina to reach the final curtain so soon. He was kind of annoying, but I didn't want him to die, he was good for comic relief. Poor Simon. First, he was crushed by his crush (something which is aptly named, see episode for details) and then he loses his 'brother'. Damn. On a completely different tangent, that fortress thing and the Giga-drill seem to be continuing the phallic imagery. There sure is a lot of it in this show! |
