The two parts where reze and Denji ended up in water had the most poetic music to suit it and are I consider them some of my favorite animated panels

Denji had such a nice group of people around him in this arc though they werent the main focus of the movie everything they had to say was clearly very impactful for our comprehension of the lore -

It's so sad we had to say goodbye to Reze - her character really had something to provide to denji that no other could - My understanding is that Makima knew how things we're going to play out so Reze's fate was coooked from the beginning ----

can't wait for s2 - haven't read the manga yet

Nothing short of a masterpiece. The tragic first love of Denji a story with no conclusion and no happy end The small portion of time they spend together in the beginning of the movie has them portrayed as 2 lost children finding happiness in each other both mistreated by the world. The brief moments they spend in each others embrace is magical we can see our 2 leads having fun with nothing except each other despite the world they were brought up in being so harsh and unforgiving showing that even 1 person in this world we consider tough can change our views and perception on the world around us, there's nothing quite like someone of the same mind. The chemistry between Reze and Denji is some of the best i have witnessed in cinema with both sharing a sense of humour and being able to bounce back off of each other it truly made me envious. There is not a single missed opportunity in the entire movie from every interaction to every little movement there is not a wasted second they take time to show you the chemistry between the two and also show Denji how love should truly feel. The subtle foreshadowing of future events that take place during the Swimming pool scene I have not had a movie be so obscure and funny yet so heart wrenching and tear jerking. The first half of the movie truly takes the cake but that doesn't mean the second half is anything to scoff at the animation and art style in this movie are breath-taking The references to other media my personal favourite being sharknado are ridiculous but so funny the voice acting from the Japanese dub were exceptional Reina Ueda absolutely stole the show with her performance of Reze and Kikunosuke Toya was amazing as Denji it wouldn't have been the same without either. The movie from start to finish was breath-taking the Pool scene being the absolute best scene in any anime in my opinion, every movement from the characters speaks a thousand words this movie truly tells us no matter how alone we feel and how tough our upbringings may be there will be someone to take that pain away (even for a brief moment) the scene showed us 2 people at their core being honest with one another and living in the moment it truly teaches us how to live with that I have to give this a 10/10 my personal favourite movie and anime of all time please watch it in the theatres if you can as it changes the experience so much def getting the Blu ray on release

I went in blind and have an absolute BLAST. I specially loved how the movie took its time to set up the new characters and tone and then it just hit us with the craziest set of action i've seen in theaters probably since Avengers Endgame, but it was even better.

The animation is beyond peak, it actually blows my mind.
Mappa becomes so good the animation outdone UFO's Demon Slayer.
Most of the super cool fight scenes are anime original too, and the camera/ combat choreography are super creative/ chaotic and unique.
I remember the manga don't have so many cool scenes, so I'd say 80% of combat against Reze are anime original.
Mappy really outdone themselves yet again, and no annoying flashbacks to disrupt the fight either.
Since Mappa owns the entire Chainsawman animation IP now, they really go all out on this one.

@StuartMckngTown I never said or implied that only action sakuga exists. You are putting words in my mouth, because you can't accept my opinion. Try to change that mindset before making fun of people. I will not respond to people who are not in it to debate in good faith.

@Ventus_S I can challenge this take because Demon Slayer has more animations than CSM in this movie.

Btw fun fact: This movie's romance is not that good, but most people, who watch shounen all the time here, would think otherwise which is normal.

@Anime_Skaddiel I believe people still don't understand what sakuga is... Because those scenes were as animated as the rest of the movie. The animation only switched up in second half. You are talking about beautiful scenes. Btw I "don't spew bullshit", and if you don't agree that's fine.

Btw If you keep trying to adding at the beginning, end or middle of your replies nothingburgers, I will take it as you want to annoy me into being triggered to respond stupidly. And from now on, try not to get this mad around this, because I could take the story apart with how much coincidences and plot armor it has, especially for this movie. I watched it twice to know where sakuga parts are, and where the story falls apart.

Legit delusional. You're the only one in this world to have a "different" sakuga. You're an absolute stupid baffoon or you're ragebaiting.

@Anime_Skaddiel Way too many nothingburgers in here without refuting my points.

Plus I noticed the word "ragebaiting" used wrong, since you literally did it with your nothingburgers labelling.

Finally since I get thrown with words in my mouth like ""different" sakuga", which I didn't say or imply.
Definition: Sakuga (作画) (lit., "drawing pictures") is a term used in anime to describe moments in a show or movie when the quality of the animation improves drastically, typically for the sake of making a dramatic point or enlivening the action. It's pronounced SA-ku-ga.

Your term however means that the whole movie is sakuga.

If you reply again with labels and nothing burgers, I will ignore you, or reply here.

I enjoyed the movie, the action scenes were cool and beautifully done and the build-up before them was also executed in a flattering manner.
But at the end, apart for some rather minor character developments, what the movie brought to the table plot-wise?
Do we now know more about the Gun-Devil and his intentions regarding Denji? about Makima? about anything vital to the plot?
Regarding the aesthetic, animation and tone, although they were good I preferred those of the first season.

These are my two cents, overall I'll rate it high 7.

@Nishinga This arc was also meant to be build-up, but we did learn things, actually.

The contract on the Chainsaw Devil's heart is INTERNATIONAL (pun intended)

Makima knows more about the Gun Devil than she lets on (The Aki and Beam interaction)

Character development for Denji, Aki, and Angel.

Reze's backstory implies you can "create" more people like her and Denji, and even Katana man.

@HajimeNozomiUwU You are right just about everything but it all sums up to only a little bit of information that is added into the main plot, I expected more honestly.
Anyway I did enjoy the movie and look forward for the next season.

This was sick!!
Reze was honestly such a good character, and her fighting techniques were so cool. Denji fighting her kinda of on-par was bs imo.
The animation and fight choreography was insane when they were fighting in the building.

Honestly wish it were longer, and I think I would’ve preferred the season one art style tbh but people gotta be complaining all time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think I’m a bigger fan of the series now than I was after seals season 1. Really looking forward to season 2 now!

Looks very well animated, nice pace. Denji is still Denji... but animated, he's much more edible. xD
Tbh, I was kind of surprised that they show the uncensored pool scenes in western cinema. I wonder if this is because the cinemas "grew up" to screen anime as it is, or they had no idea since animation "is for kids". xD
Happy to had experienced it on a big screen. Hoping for next Mappa show soon. :)

Season 1 elevated a painfully average manga into a bit of an art piece, with chilled out pacing and deliciously thoughtful shot composition across the board. The action was fun and dynamic, spoiled somewhat by overbearing, but realistically unavoidable CGI.

The movie takes what's borderline a filler story and does less with it. It's a massive visual downgrade in most ways. The fights are now all hand drawn, which is great, but a ton of closeups, visual clutter and smoke were used to achieve that. They also drag on for far too long, which combined with the lacking clarity makes them boring as hell. The person responsible for the audio mixing completely gives up too.

Pace-wise, the introduction of Reze is so sudden, it's impossible to think she's not the villain, and half-heartedly pretending it's some other jackass is borderline disrespectful to the viewer. Bits with Aki and Angel are the only ones that feel of any consequence.

It perfectly meets what my expectations for the Chinsaw Man adaptation used to be, before season 1 exceeded them.

They can show uncensored animated stuff in R-rated movies. Demon Slayer movies were rated R as well for the violence.

One word to describe this movie and it’s: incredible. I mean just absolutely incredible I mean the show was already awesome on it’s own but the Reze Arc movie for Chainsaw Man just mind boggling just the amount of effort that was taken to put the animation up to a high sheen is astounding, MAPPA you really have done it again. Not just the animation in this movie is incredible but the soundtrack, the action, everything is just big and loud and crazy just like how Chainsaw Man should be as a whole. I’m really glad I got to see this in my local cinema, at first I thought I wasn’t gonna be able to watch the dubbed version because the times just seemed to be limited but thank god I got one for an evening showing on the day I saw it. Reze was certainly the main focus of this particular movie and this particular arc for Chainsaw Man, I’m not a manga reader but I can imagine some of those readers were hyped for this and I will say MAPPA definitely did this arc superbly there.

I’ve said before that the voice acting in particular is amazing in the show proper, but Alexis Tipton as Reze was just the stand out for me in this movie. Good god, she was probably having the time of her life with this performance because not only did she make her peppy and lively when she’s putting on the act of being Denji’s girlfriend and when her true colours are revealed she’s sinister and chaotic when it calls for it. I feel Reze as a character was really interesting and her chemistry with Denji really sells it for me. The movie also has new characters that were introduced at the very end of the series with guys like Beam and Angel which I thought was pretty neat. Beam is just bonkers and just worships the ground that Denji walks the ground on because he’s the Chainsaw Devil and ultimately led to some of the best moments of the movie in terms of their dynamic. Angel is paired with Aki as his new partner but the latter is very reluctant to work with him because he’s a devil fiend but over time he grows to actually care about his new partner when he reveals to him about being bound to the Future Devil now and then which I would say is more down to him trying to cope with the loss of Himeno and considering the company Aki usually has I honestly don’t blame him for wanting nothing to do with Angel at first.

This was ultimately the first anime movie I have ever seen in a cinema and it’s saying something because most of my experiences watching anime movies have been on my lonesome at home or whatever but here it’s a brand new and unique experience for me and yes it’s worth every single minute of it and it’s like I say really fantastic stuff. Absolutely fantastic. So much to love about this movie and to think I only just about finished the first season of the anime and this movie all in the same month. It’s nuts to me. Otherwise if your a Chainsaw Man fan, go see this, especially at the cinema because there’s no way you can replicate this much frantic and chaotic energy anywhere else but the big screen. The only gripes I have towards this movie is just certain characters who I won’t name because for obvious reasons don’t really have much to do either cuz they have small screen time or they are just there for the sake of being there. Otherwise it’s a brilliant movie overall. I’ll give the Chainsaw Man movie a 9/10, a solid 9/10 overall.

@CrazyFrogz It was very faithful adaptation of the manga arc and at least in my opinion perfect in almost every way, greatly exceeding the expectations I had based on the TV anime. Soundtrack, animation, art/backgrounds/ambience everything was fantastic, so if you are a CSM fan you can really look forward to this one.

They even gave out some concept booklets here for everyone at the theater I went to:
