I like the way how Akane was portrayed in this episode, the ending was sad and depressing but I loved it nonetheless!

I honestly have nothing else to say. The reality is truly dark, and people(including me), please think that when u post something online, remember that there's someone on the other side that reads it.

incredible, it started off kinda so and so, I was thinking it was just gonna be them filming, but by the end it was just an amazing emotional rollercoaster, the subject matter was handled with care, and the directing was perfect. beautiful stuff, touched me deeply

I remember how hard-hitting these chapters were in the manga, and this episode somehow managed to make those moments of despair even more intense. Akane's suffering is sadly relatable to many people, which just goes to show the darkness of social media. Luckily our hero Aqua is here to prevent her from committing suicide, and save her from this torment.

Still very pleased that this story doesn't sugarcoat the enormous pressure these young people are under. Ruthless pressure from sick loser fans and management alike. Poor Akane.

That said. I ask myself, Is she important to the overarching plot? Is she relevant as to finding out who the father/murderer is?
I dont think thats what the author was going for, in a general way, the anime is trying to expose the reality of the industry and how it really is behind the scenes, things like Akane's story shown here is part of what he's trying to tell us;

This episode alone speaks about the ill-fetched, egotistical-filled echo chamber, and gruesome place that's the internet and especially the prominent social media platforms. To many, this episode could be a wake-up call for themselves--whether they themselves realized it or not.

Damn I love how well the Internet is portrayed in this, both the good and horrible sides. Like the scenes with her bedroom and being absolutely distraught to the point of losing the will to live even though she's able to fulfill her life dream due to the constant and seemingly endless criticism is so well done.

Memorable lines from this episode: "fans are the content they consume, they are in a state of mutual surveillance and in showbiz, we ourselves are the content." It reminds me of Shanspeare's celebrities aren't people YouTube video essay. It's good that this anime isn't shying away from stuff like this.

Every time I watch a new episode of this anime, I think that it is the best single anime episode I have seen, this episode is no exception. From the brilliant juxtaposition with Akane's actual life with what people say about her online, to the perfect suspense that leads up to the final scene. Oshi no ko as a whole does a masterful job of showcasing the dark side of show business and this episode is the perfect example of that. and the best part is that I know that it will only get better from here because somehow this show always does.

Wow, incredible episode, so much to reflect on regarding Akane's situation, just shows how heavy comments that people nonchalantly make online can HURT.
Even as a manga reader and already knowing what Akane goes through, the studio and staff portrayed the scenes so incredibly, I felt so immersed and I'm so glad Aqua was there to save her.
Such an incredible adaptation so far, 10/10.

The last half of the episode, was... something else. I can't put into words how terrible the reality show fanbase is, but really putting everything into aspect of how the real world effects others, how the internet kills others. I can't believe that you made the viewers think with their make-up that everything was going to be alright, but death threats sent and everything. It was so hard to watch this poor girl get comment after comment, until attempting something no one should ever do. This was rough.

A very important episode.

If you;ve ever said any negative thing to a post, chances are you've hurt someone, and highly likely already developed signs of depression.

Give feedback but dont ever wish for death, torture, or any hurtful words just to get them across.
But since this is Twitter/internet we're talking, the behavior is uncontrollable.
Stay safe, and keep in contact with friends/loved ones.

Remember to take it easy when comsuming content. It's all fiction, and its okay to feel things. You're loved.

Never would I have thought that I’d almost shed a tear watching this show (except for ep1). I felt sorry for Akane, the whole time I’m thinking even she unalive herself only like 2 ppl would actually mourn her.
Those twitter posts were pissing me off lol like it’s someone I know. This episode was top tier tho

PS - S/O to the creators for putting the S. Hotline number at the end of the credits

Absolutely excellent episode, so emotionally gripping, this was one of the best chapters in the manga and they somehow made it even better; it's so rare to get an adaptation like this that takes top tier source material and somehow elevates it even further.  This episode should be required viewing for anybody who actively uses Twitter, the world would be a far better place if it helped a lot of these people stop being such utter human garbage and actually develop a sense of empathy.  You guys will see as the anime continues to progress through the manga and covers more and more various topics but I never cease to be impressed by Aka Akasaka's thorough understanding of the entire Japanese entertainment industry (including all these different little bubbles within it) as well as the social media influencer space.

As someone who has been severely bullied online, and someone who has previously attempted twice...yeah. This episode is accurate, and it hurts. This also may or may not be the only non-questionable thing Aqua has ever done (If he doesn't try to recruit her, that is.)

I'm glad this show isn't afraid to show the more fucked up sides of internet culture. Someone give Akane a hug.

(And in case anyone working on the show ends up reading this, although I doubt it: Thank you for putting the suicide hotline number in the credits. It means more to me than you know.)

Ah, this episode is too painful. Never have I been so glad that I'm not using Twitter anymore. Ego search is just so bad. People always say whatever they want on the internet because there are no consequences. What's worse is that those who read take them so seriously, like what Memcho said.

Setting that aside, Akane's so cute! It's "Otonari no Tenshi" Mahiru's voice! I feel so bad for her, so glad that Aqua came to save her. Memcho is also cute but Akane is just perfect.

And wth, I got goosebumps, the ending always comes in at the right moment.

So far it is the best of the season (opinion)
Oops, this episode has something that really happens in the series that take place today, it depends on the community, but it is true that people go too far and start insulting the actors without caring about anything else or about how they really should have done it It was very interesting, we'll see what Aqua's objective was to save her or simply not to waste her life because of some comments from people
Good until the other week 😸

What the hell was Akane thinking, did she somehow forget that none of this is personal? If that's all it took for her to assault someone who wasn't even paying her any mind I'm suprised this hasn't happened before lol. Like yeah she's getting in your way but come up with different strategies

Not defending the cyberbullying because none of that was necessary. It's crazy how cruel people get behind a screen though, geez. She almost took their advice and ended it all, but somehow MC was at the right place at the right time and used the super effective "hug from behind". Real smooth lol

The last 10-15 minutes felt like a short film of its own, of Akane's breakdown and just how godawful social media can be, especially towards people in showbiz if they make one mistake. Her life and her reputation crumbled and went down in a spiral that nearly led to her taking her own life if it wasn't for Aqua saving her at the end there. The whole thing was really well executed for the most part and made the industry just look more and more disturbing in the process, especially when it comes to anonymous fans on social media that can just insult her blatantly in every way, shape and form on their devices while people who knew her in person, would make up rumors about her and assumptions just because of the reputation crumbling online without defending or backing her up.

The montage that showed her working her ass off with the comments being shown and heard in the background was really good too, it showed how much effort she put into and how one mistake and social media apps could easily throw that effort in the bin. This kind of thing has resulted in many celebrities in real life, wasting their lives away with substance/alcohol abuse, further controversies or even committing suicide. People are humans too and these tiny mistakes can lead to insufferable amounts of damage, mentally and physically. Way better and more engaging overall than the previous bunch of episodes for sure, I would argue the Akane portion on its own is better than the first episode too for me. God this industry is just so shit to watch behind all the fame.

Glad that the anime staff included the suicide hotline info and number too at the very end as well.

It's the hidive release that added a warning at the end.

Damn dude this was definitely a darker ep :(
It's brutal how true this is unfortunately. I'm sure we've all left comments online that we think nothing of.

I think to be in the spotlight, you really have to learn how to either ignore or not let criticism affect you. Because it happens to everyone with an online presence no matter how good they are!
"Water off a duck's back" is an excellent ideology imo.

Anyways, Aqua coming in at the end was great!! Loved it. I'm really glad she didn't end up killing herself.
