wow this was an absolutely amazing first episode, super interesting premise and production quality looks quite decent too, was a bit of a sad start but really can’t wait to see where ’it’ goes, what people and locations 'it' meets, and how ‘it’ develops.

I'm going to be honest here, I can obviously see that the first episode seems to be setting up something greater and that the story can develop so much further down the line.

But please be honest with yourself, this first episode was not was good as everyone makes it out to be, even if there is a lot of foreshadowing or other stuff going on.

I'm not saying that the series is gonna be bad, or that the Episode was overly bad, it was "good" in most aspects, but please don't overhype this shit for no reason.

(Again, I can see the potential, but the first episode here is just not that good compared to the praise it's getting already)

This is one of the best first episodes I have seen. The soundtrack is amazing and was enough to destroy me by itself.

I told myself I wouldn't cry when I knew what was going to happen to the boy but when those 2 last minutes happened I couldn't control myself. Damn.

I can already tell this is going to be FREAKING amazing.

Never EVER have I cried on a first episode, and now here I'm, a sobbing mess. I'm not even sure what did I just watch but it was painful, amazing, beautiful and I'm absolutely marveled. I was so not ready for this. I had no idea what this anime would be like, and it actually was so overwhelming that I'm feeling the need to just stare at the wall for the next couple of minutes and calm down a bit. Best first episode ever?

It's so good when art can hit it us right in the chest like this episode did, isn't it?

Amazing premiere. I don't remember the author's name, but it's the same mangaka who wrote Koe no Katachi. She's brilliant as a storyteller.

What a premiere.. It gives me the same feeling and atmosphere, if not better, compared to when I read this part in the manga. This series always give me a "different feeling" when it comes to entertainment. The feeling which leads this series towards the word "Masterpiece".

I have only read a few chapters of the manga because I kept on delaying it. Why? Because I know it's going to be good. And if I want to read it, I want myself to be in the best situation possible to absorb whatever's coming from Fumetsu no Anata e.

The first episode was a symbolism for the spirit of mentor and disciple.

"It" is the 'disciple' seeking a clear purpose and direction, until "It" meets the nameless boy who became his 'mentor'. In the very end, when the nameless boy passed away peacefully, "It" inherits the boy's form and spirit, thus establishing a new legacy after taking its very first steps to chart new frontiers and encounter new 'mentors'.

A really strong start from a series I've never heard about before.

It reminded me a bit of Somali and the Forest Spirit, or actually, how Somali failed to deliver a good story. Now that I look at it, Somali is more of a slice of life in a fantasy world, rather than a show trying to tell a bigger story.

To the eternity managed to make me feel attached to the introduced characters in just one episode, and Somali couldn't do it in twelve episodes.

This series is pretty deep...

I already felt

___ ___ ___

What I am not sure is... who the hell kind of "God" or "Alien" or some sort of Isekai maker? was that at the start of the episode... (it's partly Isekai as the Orb doesn't look like it's from "this world")

Sending a "orb" that reacts to other things to "Earth" so he can observe it.

TBH that sounds like a plot where Aliens send life onto a planet that doesn't have much life and see how it grows over time. (something like "Alien Reality TV show")

And why did the others leave the "village" (more like a Tribe of 10-ish people) and only the boy left living there? Why didn't the boy leave with others, or why does everyone leave at same time but the boy? hmm...

___ ___ ___

And that next episode preview... wtf man... now we gotta feel sad for the girl too even before episode 2 is out.

As much as I like a lot of Isekai shows, this is a 100% not an Isekai show lol.

And as explained in the episode. Joan bit the boys leg when they are about to set off, so his parents decided to leave him with the elders as the elders and the boy(cause of his injury) could possibly not survive the harsh journey to the south.

I knew this was gonna make me cry but damn - they did such a good job of adapting this that it tore my heart to pieces. It was heartbreaking watching the boy try to stay positive and just slowly, slowly fade away.

The soundtrack really elevated the atmosphere of each scene and the animation & artwork were beautiful. My only concern is that the boy's voice didn't suit the serious tone of the anime and I hope that isn't going to be a thing with other characters cause I feel like it'll take the audience out of some of the deeper moments.

I think the casting for the boy's va is on the spot. Since its elevates the boys optimism despite that optimism contradicts the feeling of the negativity episode one is presenting. And his character is the type to hide his negativity away so the voice makes sense.

Looked nice. 7/10 (3/5 for the episode). But I didn't care about the "thing" that becomes the main char. Also not abou the nameless boy we do not really get to know.

Narrator was a bit cheap: He just throw ni the sphere that turned into a stone, moss, wolf and then the boy. And no explanatoin why this happened.

Not really interested in more - especially after reading a bit on some wikis about the future plot. This likely will be too much adventuring for my taste. I prefer a straight plot or good episodic stuff with chars I like. And a normal approach would have been better. (Instead of just creating such a "thing" when you also can stell story normally.)

Well if everything is thrown out in episode 1 then there will no mystery left isn't it. Like knowing the fact that Its Grisha's previous wife was the one who ate Eren mama wouldn't be impactful if it was revealed early on episode 1. I might just laugh and say wtf if Isayama did that lol.

Also the top ranking adventure series with episodic stuff really is far from being categorized as setted in a normal setting. Most has a gimmick to it e.g.
COWBOY Bepop - Cowboys adventuring in space(far from normal isnt it)
Samurai Champloo - Samurai adventure in a quasi-samurai ghetto esque setting.
Kino's Journey - traveling a world (specially fit for travelling) with your talking motorcycle.
Violet evergarden - delivering mails in a somewhat steam punk setting (in the LN Violet even dons a big ass Axe weapon)
Space Dandy - can ve taken literally

What a sad and tragic but beautiful episode! It's very rare to fall in love with a show just from its first episode but I just did. I have not read Yoshitoki Ooma's manga but judging from the first episode alone this looks like it's going to be the strongest new anime of the season, if not the year. It's great that we're going to get 20 episodes of this and not just one cour!

"I think I wanted to attack something. Like betraying people or hurting people. And, well, it's not exactly nice, but hurting the readers too... In all honestly, I feel that's what I really wanted to do. For me, as a reader, when I think, "this manga will remain in my heart," it means, for example, it phenomenally hurt me: It's those kinds of experiences I'm after." - Pajime Hisayama (My favourite hurting author).

Wow that was an absolutely amazing first episode. The composition was really nice and emotional. Definitely the adaptation I wad hoping for. This has the potential to become one of the best shows this year. However, within the next 2-3 episodes we will see how the studio can handle action scenes and more complex scenarios. I'm really excited!

I just feel like a more 'realistic' (for lack of a better word) voice would've made more of an impact as far as emotional scenes are concerned.

The first ep was quite good tbh. Liked this gloomy atmosphere and sense of desperation. Hoping the whole show to be something dark, mature and wise.. Perhaps building up around the search of remnants of past civilization and survivors and interaction between them and the alien form.. Well, something post-apocalyptic dark sci-fi stuff...

...until I saw post-credit scenes of the next ep...
wtf is this?

Is it turning into a just another wannabe-emotional slice of life show stuffed with comedy and fanservice?

I want to start off saying I havent seen anything on this anime before hand, other than watching the trailer. I've got to say im already fully in love with this just off the first episode. I think this is the first anime to get me to shed so many tears with just the first episode. Without even knowing anything about this character before hand, I just felt so much towards him and his journey. The human emotion displayed in this is just all around amazing, the sense of hurt he hides behind his smile, just makes me sad and feel for him. All I got to say is I look forward to watching more of this anime, and round of applause to the studio and the creator for this amazing piece of work.

At first I thought, is this going to be a Wolf's Rain recap? (The wolves there also looking for the paradis ;)

Because the wolf was resuscitated by the "stone", it was clear early on that the boy would likely die too. Still, it was sad and well well done. Many series don't even create such strong feelings in 12 episodes!

The first time I saw this anime cover image (I think last season or last year.. they just moved the airing date of this anime) I already know that it's good just by looking the cover.. I don't know anything about this anime, only the cover image and watching the first episode now, it didn't fails me.. this is sooooo good!!!! it makes me cry so much :(

I know "it" can copy anything but I really really want the boy to be alive.. I'm hoping that "it" can heal him but it didn't :( "it" can copy him but it's still not the same person :( I really want him to go to that paradise place or meet with his other tribe.. but no :( that scene when he fall on the chair, broke my heart!!!

I think this anime will make me cry every episode.. the preview of episode 2 makes me cry now already T-------T

I knew that boy wasn't gonna make it, and somehow it made it even sadder, as I watched him chase after something he would never reach. I bawled my eyes out, but I love something that can successfully blur my vision so much that I need to go back to see what's actually happening.
Can't wait to see what's next.
