Sinon all the way. Mother's Rosario certainly helped me like Asuna better, but it was too late to be honest.

Sinon was introduced from the beginning as a great character. From the 3rd episode she probably had more depth than all other characters in SAO combined. It's a shame she was relegated to just another member of Kirito's harem after GGO finished.

If you say favorite heroine I can understand why Sinon
But if you're talking about romance I don't see anyone better than Asuna.
As for me, I like Asuna more overall in-game or real life for both character and relationship.
Asuna is just more of my taste.

I just finished the Phantom Bullet Arc the other day and I instantly loved Sinon from the start! From her design to her personality to her background story, Sinon is definitely my favourite character in SAO!

of course asuna, and i am by no means a fan of her

sinon is just terrible and her trauma was really annoying. the only good thing about her is Sawashiro Miyuki as VA

I'll tell you why Sinon is my pick (I've only watched the anime, so I haven't read the novels.) In Sword Art Online, Asuna was (in my opinion) the best girl MC. Silica and Lisbeth were in only one episode (if I remember correctly), which doesn't tell you a lot about them. Sachi wasn't very interesting, so yeah.

Next is Alfheim Online. The only MC girl in that is Suguha/Leafa, which was a good character, but the whole "I wanna fuck my brother/cousin, but its wrong and he already has someone blah blah blah" thing kinda got annoying.

Finally, Gun Gale Online introduced Sinon/Shino. First off, she looks way better than Asuna, at least to me. I also feel like Asuna left the interesting parts of herself back in SAO. That is really sad because she was one of my favorites when I started watching it and now when I see her I think "ughhhhhh, Asuna has to speak or do something again? Why not ANYBODY ELSE?"

I could probably mention plenty of other things, but I've pretty much made my point. Sinon, as of now, is my favorite female MC in Sword Art Online. Unless Asuna returns to being her interesting self, then she won't even be close to being my favorite female MC.

Sinon is awesome as hell as heroine AND girl for Kirito.
While Asuna is the typical smiling , rich and beautiful person without any special aspect , Sinon is clever , very funny , the only person in SAO with an interesting background and beautiful as hell (especially Shino).
The relationship between Kirito and Asuna seems kinda forced I mean if you're a soloplayer who talks maybe once in a month with others of course you bang the maybe only female clearer because you see her often(there are only a few females and how many of them could be part of the in the end maybe 300 clearers?) The only thing they do when they are together is some klishee romantic I love you forever sh*t and come on how many teenagers have a daughter? Asuna seems also kinda obsessed when it's about Kirito. The only thing that she wants to do in future is to be together with Kirito. Hello, own life? And the most important part: they know each other for 3 years and one of them they life in reality so WHY THE F*CK DOES SHE CALL HIM KIRITO AND NOT KAZUTO? I think she only loves the black swordsman Kirito and not the high school student Kirigaya Kazuto.
Sinon and Kirito on the other hand share a real relationship. They have fun together , share a similar past (I know Asuna was also a SAO Survivor but I don't think it bothers her that much and I highly doub that she killed anyone (she even didn't want to sacrifice NPCS : da f*ck???)) tease each other and are attracted to each other: read the light novel Kirito always describes how beautiful Sinon is.
Conclusion: while Asuna is the perfect girl (rich , always smiling,bla,bla,bla) and probably only liked Kirito because of his strength, Sinon is an interesting and very sympathic character who wakes real emotions to the viewer and is the same as Kirito. So in the end.
SINON X KIRITO FOREVER , PLEASE DIE IN ALLICIZATION ASUNA SO IT CAN BE CANON!

1. She was in a life or death game where every move she did had to be strategic. Unlike Sinon, Asuna wouldn't have been able to die and come back. It was all or nothing.
2. Sinon is a great sniper. That said, she's always far from her opponent, unlike Asuna, who goes head to head with those morons who challenge her.
3. Instead on wimping out like Sinon whille Death Gun was chasing them, Asuna was able to protect Kirito and her loved ones by being a badass and having lighting fast skills.
4. In a game dominated by men, both girls owned them. However, Asuna literally became their leader and (technically) commander of the Knights of the Blood Oath (Heathcliff=Kayada=non player). That said, she had to take real life risks.

That is why she is a badass and I wish we could see a fight between them to prove it.

They are both good characters but still, Asuna.

In a different reality, I'd definitely ship Sinon with Kirito. They made an awesome team. Still, Kirito and Asuna share everything with each other, have endless faith in each other and act the way mature couples should.

Come on guys, this shouldn't even be a question. Kirito x Asuna forever. Best couple in all anime series ever. Just rewatching season one, and damn, season made me cry a couple times from the interactions between asuna and kirito. Simon isn't even an option.

I'm just waiting for yui's reaction to her father indirectly cheating on asuna. Sinon is awsome! Personally I love her buuuuuutttt. If you think about it asuna is basically meant for kirito! Ok!ok!ok!! Hear me out! Sinon knew kirio for like what? 2 days? ASUNA KNEW HIM FOR 2 YEARS! Yes I may sound like some sao fan girl but I can't help but feel irritated when people say sinon is better. There's a reason why asuna and kirito where first paired together.

Sinon easily: dat ass + nice design (I like her RL aspect too) + cool gun + Miyuki Sawashiro = awesome combo.

Although I like Asuna, I prefer Shino.

After watching both Sword Art Online and Sword Art Online 2, I pick Sinon over Asuna. I like both characters but Sinon is more interesting to me and I actually relate to her better. Plus I like her cool headed and serious personality.

Would have definitely said Sinon especially due to the fact she has an actual story line behind her. That is until I watched the Mother Rosario arc.

Say what you will about season 2 of SAO, but the last arc shed a ton more light on Asuna as an actual person. Equally she was actually shown as her bad ass old self from the Aincrad arc and put up more of a fight against Yuuki than the "all mighty" Kirito.

I honestly think that when we got more insight on the type of person she is + more a view of her personal life, she developed into a more appealing character.

Sinon is so badass and is way prettier! She fits Kazuto as a GF way better too! Kirito x Sinon forever!
