Why do people rate even when the series is not finished?

I usually rate the anime when it's half of the total episodes or something like that unless they are long running series like One Piece or Black Clover. That's like representing my first impression of the anime, and when it doesn't stray too far from the first half of the story or the animation, I would leave my score as it be.
Even if I'm alone, I'll go, even if I want to die.
I can hear your voice, saying I shouldn't die.
Even if it's difficult, even if I cry from loneliness
I can feel warmth from deep inside my heart.

Going round-and-round and flowing, time is ever-changing.
I can't remember what happened anymore, but
If I try and close my eyes, I can hear someone's laughing voice
For some reason, now, that is My Most Precious Treasure.

I must say I am not a fan of rating an anime before watching it completely. However, sometimes I feel it is necessary. There are times when you drop it because you see a lot of episodes, and it is like "I am not wasting my time though this". Or just because something happened, and you said "this ruined the series". Yes, there are personal opinions but that can happen and is normal to rate it at that moment.

This happened to me with some animes, but also with non anime series as well. So, I guess that's the reason.

Basically I rate it after I watched at least 2 episodes, then I'd change the score if it improves or whatever.

I rate it after every episode so that I don't rate on impulse just because an anime has a great ending. I've seen shows that have a good ending but is riddled with plot holes in the middle.

It's not like the ratings are fixed. Why don't people understand that?

Yeah good question I don't get that too, I never rate it until it's finished airing.

I change it after every episode . AOT ep 6 made me give the show a 7 . Then EP 7 was great which made me change the score to 8 .

seems kinda dumb to rate something when you haven't even seen the whole thing imo.. its like saying a song is a masterpiece/trash after listening to 30 seconds of it. but its not like its a rule or anything, people can do what they want.

Rating a series while it's airing just seems so weird. For example, AoT Final Season I have watched and I currently think It's in 8-9 territory but I'll wait for the rest to see if it can get up to a 10.

Is it just manga readers? Am I tripping? Someone explain.
For me it is kind of a prediction. I gave it a 10 because I know the coming manga material is gonna be really good. If that changes and the anime goes original and stops making sense or something then I'm lowering my score

Because then people can see their initial thoughts on a show and then they can change it later

I have OCD when it comes to rating anime. If I don't rate it after watching 2-3 episodes, I begin to itch.

Exactly!! Just need a number next to it honestly.

I'm quite surprised that most users who replied admit to rating things before they finish them, I was NOT expecting this O_O

There is NO WAY, that I would rate something before I finish it. In fact, I can even take a while to rate EVEN after I have completed it so that I can be 100% sure about my rating.

I CANNOT bear the thought of giving something an inaccurate score in my list. Which is partly why I'm re-watching some Anime.

1. Do you literally think you're the only one that doesn't rate until the show is over? I think that would be a new level of tunnel vision right there.

2. Let's say you read chapter 1 of a book, and someone asks you, "So, what do you think of the book so far?" And you say, "I don't know, I literally can't think anything about the book because I haven't finished it yet."

Or you're in the middle of dying of cancer, and someone asks, "How are you feeling?" And you say, "I feel nothing, no pain, nothing, because I haven't died of cancer yet. Once it's over, all the pain will hit me at once, and I will be able to rate the experience."

Or you're in the middle of taking a course, and someone asks, "How hard is the course?" And you reply, "I don't know... I just don't know... I did the homework yesterday, but I have no conception of how easy or hard it is, my mind is just drawing a blank."

And that's when your friend goes, "Okay, you do you, sis" and walks away. Face palms. Grabs a beer. And goes off on his merry way.

I only rate when I finish a season how ever long. I dont currently watch anything like One Piece that is super long and on going so I can wait. I dont care when, what or how others rate anime...I am more annoyed by being told a season is the greatest thing ever after 2 episodes in 50 forum posts a day.

This is why sometimes the ratings of an anime drop after the last episode but honestly it is a natural occurrence.

No, It's more like

You listen to a song halfway and then you stop to rate it a 5/10.

You watch a movie a quarter in and give it a rating of 10/10.

Imagine if the NFL, NBA and NHL stopped at halftime completely and the entire match was decided by half-time but you still have to play.

Or the best, You put on your pants halfway and rate the pants overall.
Plus look at all the posts above, it appears you have tunnel vision. I'm just asking why people do it, No need to be so aggressive.
