Nice. Good thread here. Time to check out some of these aforementioned series. Been in quite a drought in terms of watching "intelligent" and/or "thought-provoking" shows.

As for my own opinion, immediately coming to mind are GitS: SAC, Texhnolyze, and Ergo Proxy.

For various definitions of intelligence, I would say Mushishi and Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood. Perhaps, even Gintama. Comedy is as good for intelligence as drama, after all. And for emotional intelligence, I'd say Chihayafuru.

This.

I'd say Code Geass to an extent just because of the whole ideal surrounding the chess pieces and the game of chess.
Also, FMAB is fantastically enriched with the science of alchemy. Absolutely fantastic to watch.
Please, dream some good dreams for me, Lloyd.

Not really too sure... but if I had to venture a guess, I'd say Kara no Kyoukai, Serial Experiments Lain, and Aria.

If Liar Game was ever adapted into anime, I'd go with that (assuming it's a faithful adaptation like Death Note was.)

Other than that; steins;gate.

Would listing Miyamoto Musashi: Souken ni Haseru Yume and Hijikata Toshizo: Shiro no Kiseki be cheating? (They're both documentaries/biopics.)

Kara no Kyoukai.
Psycho Pass hasn't ended yet so I can't tell, but recently it's being so damn twisted too.

I would have to say Monster. I just loved the way how the plot advanced, every character has so big part of the story line and it was very well thought out how they put all the pieces together.

He's got to be trolling. Trying to give Naruto fans a bad name or something.
