And you have to realize that there aren't really any anime that are actually dead-on scary.

It's all relative. I watch several shows with my 11 year old son (Another is definitely not one of them). I watched Scrapped Princess last year and figured it would be something he might like, so last weekend we started watching it. He enjoyed the first three episodes. Last night we watched episode four, and the part where the church had started a purge of the town and the blob monster started mind controlling the people freaked him out - he ran up to his room and shut the door. (sigh)

I know for sure he'd never make it through the opener for Another, never mind actually watching any of the show itself...

THIS ANIME IS FRIGGIN' AWESOME!

My inner sadist loves the death scenes, too. But the mystery... WHOA. Just... WHOA!

AND MAN, DO I WANT SAKAKIBARA AND MISAKI TO GET MARRIED AND MOVE TO TOKYO!
AND HAVE LOTS OF BABIES
LOTS AND LOTS OF PRETTY BABIES

...but I have a suspicion that one of them's going to die at the end! :(
THAT WOULD MAKE ME SAD

If anyone that knows of the novel could tell me what happens at the end, I would appreciate that! (With a spoiler alert for the rest of the people on here, of course! :3)

I honestly don't know why I put myself through shows like these...I really can't handle blood and gore very well. xD

But this was actually a really good episode. Also I keep getting the feeling that there's something strange about Kouichi's dad, especially since he's never been shown once so far.

I have a theory - there's obviously something odd about that doll, and I think it signifies something about Mei.

Notice it has a green eye, but its hair is covering the other . . .

at least they aren't ignored anymore. the dream sequence was way more creepy/disturbing than any of the deaths so far.

eh I still don't like Misaki.

I also had the idea while watching that he could have been dead, with the mother pregnancy theory but yeah it's not him.

predictions: that guy's sister is the next to die.

another random prediction Akazawa isthe dead one. just have a feeling for some reason.

What I really like about this show is that eerie feel that corpse party has. Like some huge plot twist is going to happen, characters that are cared for will die, and then that twist is going to be twisted again and become cliched.

The whole thing about Mei not being a ghost or some kind of spectral form kinda killed it for me. Although I think I'm being biased because I'm a supposed spectrophiliac.

Personally, I think it's going to be a whole suzamiya haruhi thing where the main dude is going to think the main chick is the some kind of something but it's actually him who's really the dead one(dude in haruhi made haruhi to be the creator, masochistic existentialism). All that stuff about him not being a ghost is some kind of red herring.

The instructor's suicide was a little over the top, considering he could have done it at the comfort of his home, downing a lot of sake, and committing seppuku instead.

Me and my sister also had a feeling that Akazawa might be the dead one. She goes around checking everyone, right? Shaking their hands etc. But who checks her? This will be my theory for now, at least.

Good episode, good show. I really love it. The teacher's suicide was beautifully gory and I loved how realistic everyone's reactions were, each student reacted differently.

At this point I'm leaning towards Mei being the dead one. The fact how the naming of the episodes tie in with the whole doll business, there is just too much connection here. It could also enhance the romance aspect. Kouichi and Mei falling in love, but Mei has to move on and we get a bittersweet ending, could work I think. Wouldn't be surprised if Sakakibara-kun was the dead one of course, lots of hints on that one. Now that I think about it, what if there are two dead people this time around? I'm not sure the possibility is excluded.

I have a feeling they left the body at the excursion that year when the phenomena stopped. Next up, the obligatory beach episode, I wonder how they will handle it. The dream sequence was a nice touch to this episode. 4/5.

So, they're back to existence, huh? No more "we don't exist, so we can do anything we want" opportunities. That was a freaky nightmare he had. I think it would be too... cheap/easy if he were to be the deceased person, though. I can't believe next episode is a beach episode. Hopefully it has important information in it too.

LOL at all the students just standing there! I would be getting the fk out of there the instant he pulled out the knife or if anything, pick up my desk and throw it at him. Knocking him out is better then him killing himself. =p

Anyways, as for the episode, that "Sakakibara's dead" assumption sure got derailed quick.

Great episode,crazy suicide is crazy.

The teacher suicide was soooooooo good,i really like it the Gore was to the MAX and the reaction of everyone was even better one scene cant wait to see in the BD's.And ya the no reaction of the class is normal the impact of the scene will freeze pretty much anyone....seeing someone suicide is no a cute scene to see.....

So now everyone acknowledge them again kinda nice, also Yuuya sister is cute and i want to try some hawaiian coffee.

The dream scene was also great probably the most creepy moment so far in the series....I LOVE IT!!!

So that guy stop the curse somehow and probably left a clue in the shrine, this is getting interesting.

The ending was creepy and warm at the same time, also if Mei can tell with the "eye" who is dead then...wtf she use it but maybe we dont know something yet.

Next episode looks like the necessary beach episode....cant wait!

My exact feelings! loved this episode <3

I actually like that their classmates started treating them as humans--I want to see more of Mei's social, human side.

I'm glad I knew that death was coming. It was better than I thought it would be though. For some reason I thought the dream sequence was hilarious LOL why did he melt. I prefer his breakdown in the manga lolol.

I quite like Akazawa's theory. It would've been cool if it was true.

Why are they going to the beach... another surprise... lD;;

The only way Misaki can be confident that he isn't the dead one is either she knows she is the dead one or she can tell that he isn't the dead one/has inside information.

I had a similar theory about Kouichi that Izumi mentioned this episode. But would that explain his family? If I use an example from the movie "Sixth Sense", the dead do not know they are dead, and see the world as they did when they were still alive. Although this may explain how Kouichi can be dead, but what if he only dead for a little while during birth. In which case his half-death and Mei's half-death = 1 whole dead person?

Anyways I'll figure out what really happens when I finish the series.

Wth? There's seriously a BEACH episode coming up? I sure hope someone's going to die, even if i's outside of that town.

Also, I get the feeling they sacrificed those 2 "dead by accident" students at that shrine back then. Maybe that would explain why the people involved deny and thus can't remember it..? I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to that in the end.
In any case, it seems like those students were killed by their classmates rather than died because of the curse. But maybe it was not the sacrifice itself that pulled it off, but the fact that they killed the "dead one"? Maybe that guy didn't know for sure who it was, so he went ahead and killed two people, one of which was "innocent"?

Things feel a bit rushed though..Mei and Kouichi regained their existences pretty quickly. oO

It has to be Misaki's eye that lets her tell if he's dead or not. She pretty much said so herself earlier, when I still thought she was a ghost.
Besides, she only told him that she knew he was alive after taking the eyepatch off.
But, that raises the question, how can a doll's eye see that sort of thing? And I assume they rigged it up so that it would move in keeping with her neural signals, and that has to be a scientific feat.

that is alot of blood, but aside from that this isn't gonna end well, feel like Mei leaving the town will not end well, also I was wondering can Mei see who is dead and who isn't? Cause if she can shouldn't she just check all the people in the class and report it, also does finding the one who is dead stop the calamity or does it do nothing, cause they haven't said anything about what finding the dead person does.

Ok, so I was thinking maybe Kouichi was the dead one, like Sixth Sense or someshit. I mean they never figured out who was the dead one 15 years ago. What if his mother was the dead one? Can the dead one die in the accidents? If there is no identified deceased one for that year does that mean the dead one is still walking around living a normal life for 15 years? Then Akazawa says it probably isn't then she says shes definitely shaken hands with him before. Is she the deceased one remembering a time when she shook his hand while she was still alive? She also shot down my idea of checking everyone's body temperature. I can't find any plot holes that isn't addressed the next episode. And why can't they remember how they stopped the curse?

I don't feel creeped out anymore, the first 2 episodes were giving me the serious heeby jeebies. The falling doll and music made me pause the episodes and the umbrella and elevator deaths were spine chilling. The suicide not so much.

Another thing to think about. Since the memories of everyone is altered, do the parents of the deceased one raise their kid for a year, go on summer vacation with them, then at the end when they get their true memory back they realize theyve been raising their dead child for a year? That's scary as fuck.

So I suppose since no one has ever stopped the phenomenon with the exception of one class, no one has figured out who the dead one is? Is that how you stop it? Get rid of the dead one? Unless I missed something because I was a chicken and not looking, they only find out at the end of the school year when their memory goes back to normal. I wrote a lot this time so I'll stop here. Next episode...
